I have been supporting this business for years. Today, I phoned in an order and when I got to the walk-up window, it was SLAMMED in my face. Not closed but SLAMMED! I supported this business when it was Dairy Queen, Dairy King and thru all the renovations of El Sabrosito. I am extremely disappointed in the level of customer service today. Don't know what the issue was but you don't take out your frustrations on your loyal customers. Shame on you. There are many other options in this area for Mexican Food and I will be exploring them instead. read more

My husband BIG DOG SAL has been taking me here for 18 yrs or so . They have excellent food , excellent prices & excellent customer service he also gets it tacos here before going to work . Came here on a Sunday. It's a pretty restaurant. Service was quick, and our waitress was polite and friendly. Overall, we were really disappointed in the food. We felt it wasn't fresh, and really really low quality. Prices were cheap though. We tried the following: Steak and shrimp - 1/10 - steak was over cooked, gray, tasted old and not fresh. Shrimp was fried, it was okay just wasn't expecting them to be fried. Steak & Enchiladas - 1/10 - steak was gray, tasted old and not fresh. Beans were chunky and tasted canned. Enchiladas we're bland. Rice was okay. Beef burrito with cheese sauce - 1/10 - was mostly chunky canned beans, beef tasted old. Menudo - 7/10 - was the best thing we tried. The flavor was really good. I appreciated how small the tripe was cut up. My only complaint about this dish was there was obviously fresh pieces of tripe mixed in with older tripe. Kids plate with Piccadilo - 7/10 - meat was flavorful, and rice was good. Beans were chunky and bland. Salsas we're good. read more

Best breakfast tacos I've ever had. They are big and fat. When. It's a messy taco like a chicharon or chorizo and egg it's double wrapped. Never have I come home with a leaky bag. Lemonade is great. This is the only place I buy tacos now. read more

The food is really very yummy, made fresh to order. Tortillas are our favorite from anywhere else. Their Barbacoa isn't full of weird, unrecognizable stuff that make it pretty unappetizing, not greasy either. If you like Menudo, it's really good here. Carne Guisada is the best around as well. The cost is really reasonable. We have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. We prefer "Sabs" over any local Mexican restaurants around. We have known most of the employees for years, including the owner Joyce and her sweet husband, and they know our entire family as well. The staff are very friendly, Joyce. The owner really helped us out when our eldest daughter passed away recently. She volunteered to help us with anything we needed, and she did just that. We thank you, Joyce. Teri, you've always been our go-to when we needed some help. Maria and Isabel, we love having you wait our table. The staff from the time we walk in, seat ourselves, order our food, eat the delicious food we receive, and then pay at the cash register. They're all fabulous!! I'm not saying you may not get someone who's having a bad day, but it's rare. A VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT FOR SURE. Delivered the wrong food. I even called and told them. She said she'd get it correct. They have a Mexican plate with a #1,2, and 3 option. When ordering online it won't let you specify which one out of the 3 choices available. They need to fix that. Other than that the food was good. Just not the food I wanted to eat. read more

If you like cheese and picadillo in your chile rellenos then this is your place!! The picadillo had chunks of potato, sooo delicious!! The plate is a big chile relleno, rice, beans, lettuce, a tomato slice, salsa, and flour tortillas. For a Friday they provided fast and friendly service thru their drive-thru. read more

I used to eat here once or twice a month when I lived in that area. It's been nearly a year since we've been and since we were in the area, we had lunch there today. It's changed a great deal and not for the better. The service was spotty. We ordered homemade corn tortillas, and when the meal arrived, no tortillas. When we finally asked our server, he returned nearly ten minutes later with flour tortillas. Wrong! Ten minutes later he returned with the homemade corn tortillas but our meals were nearly gone. Regarding the food, it had changed for the worse. The red salsa lacked a kind of spicy flavor and the cheese enchiladas were tasteless and boring. We will not return. San Antonio and the surrounding areas have Mexican restaurants about every few miles. I'm being very generous giving this place two stars. read more

Order Ahead & Watch Out For Bulging Asphalt at Exit One Fajita Taco w/ guac was a 35min wait in drive thru (stuck behind other cars with meals). Even if they bought it early, I couldn't leave. I'm in the drive through and ordered 3 meals chips and salsa and tortillas and it came out to 44$ plus a fee to use my card which they always charge to make more money. So 46$ total and some change. I give 1 star only because the last couple of times I came here, food was good and service was great, not only one but multiple servers were very welcoming and attentive. This time was a big disappointment, especially during a visit where I'm introducing my husband to this restaurant. Older female with the long hair had nothing but a straight face and negative attitude. She kept rushing my him as he was trying to decide between 2 meals, she also gave me an attitude bc I asked for something while she was waiting on him. All because she obviously couldn't multitask. One of the best places to eat Tex-Mex cuisine in the northeast and converse areas, the breakfast tacos are very good and always hardy and the lunch and dinner plates are just as good, this place is always busy but the staff is always friendly and very helpful. A couple of times during the week I go here for the breakfast tacos. We get the potato & egg, or the steak & egg. They are good and come out hot..reasonably priced. You can go into the restaurant to sit, or the walk up or drive thru. I'm normally at the drive thru..sometimes it can be a line in the mornings, because of how awkwardly placed the thru drive is in location of the street when you turn in. After kayaking on military drive, my daughter opted for Mexican​ food and she also coerced us into trying this place. Since​ my daughter and wife tend to stick to 'their" places to eat, I was interested in trying this restaurant that had historically been a Dairy Queen. The restaurant has been tastefully decorated to resemble the Spanish​ influence, but the Dairy Queen "ghosts of the past" were evident in the structure, but were carefully hidden behind the aromas of standard Mexican​ fare. I entered and sat by my wife and daughter who had ordered before I arrived. The waitress promptly took our orders and served some chips and salsa. Within 10 minutes, the plates arrived and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount that was given. For starters, my Carne​ guisada plate was filled with tender beef tips in a seasoned gravy with homemade Spanish​ rice and refried beans. My wife​ ordered a puffy taco plate, and she was impressed with the filings and the texture of the tacos. Now, my daughter surprised us all by ordering chicken, mole enchiladas. She let me try the sauce, and it was delicious, rich and embodied the chocolate. The enchiladas were loaded with shredded chicken, and there was just enough cheese to balance each enchilada. Finally, El Sabrosito is a "must" if you are looking for great service, and a delicious mexican, hearty meal in the Universal City/Converse area.
