An improvement would be closing. The food is sub par and is in no way authentic Mexican food. Not mentioning the prices they charge, outrageous for the petty amount you get let alone the quality. Service is terrible. The girl at the counter ( I hesitate to say hostess ) could care less that you ordered over the phone or came in to dine. The building itself is one f the stupidest decors I've seen. I think they bought out several bundles of siding left over from Previous jobs. Black white and grey mixed up in no order. There wasn't enough lettuce or tomatoes in the taco salad. It turned out to be okay, it just needed to be tossed inside the shell before moving on. Our drink refills arrived without asking, you don't see that much anymore! Quesadillas platter was better than expected with the BBQ pork and rice on the side! I would recommend trying the Quesadillas here! They got us a soda to go for my wife's beverage. They weren't busy at the time of our visit. The waitress was timely in her visits to the table and friendly! For dessert, the churro was good, but might have been done too quickly and had a soggy center. This restaurant is in an unassuming house by the roadside. Inside was busy but we were greeted warmly by the staff and told to sit anywhere so we chose a picnic table out on the upper porch. Our server was a charming young lady who checked in with us a number of times to ensure we had everything we needed. My husband had chorizo and eggs and I had a burrito, both were fresh, tasty and decently priced. We enjoyed our visit and will be sure to return! read more

Overpriced, under prepared, doesn't match descriptions, charged heavily for what should have been free chips and salsa , quesadillas looked like naked tortilla with a sprinkle of cheese that was only evident when I peeled it open, (and nothing else!). I have heard mixed things about this place but had to try for myself. So glad we did! We went on Valentine's night. We started with guacamole, which was good! My husband got the steak chimichanga and I got the taco dinner with the Coca Cola chicken. His was perfectly made and delicious. My two taco dinner was plenty for this big eater. The Coca Cola chicken is very spicy so be advised (I like it that way!). We each had a margarita (yum) and split an order of flan for dessert. Was there for the grand opening today. Food was excellent and service was pretty fast considering they were packed. Our waitress was very attentive, and the manager along with owner came by several times to check on us. Very family friendly atmosphere and prices are compatible to other Mexican restaurants in the area. They have an outside deck for those who enjoy eating outdoors. They have a full service bar and a somewhat enclosed eating area for a little more privacy. We will definitely be back. read more

I want to like this place. Family run. Decent food. Quick and friendly service. But they are becoming a victim to inflationary costs and may have priced themselves out my comfort level. All of the steak costs have spiked and a small carne asada is now $23.50 and steak fajitas are $21.50. I'm not sure if chips are free, but to add a $1 avocado for guacamole is now $8. Prices are marked on the menu, so pay more attention than I did. As others have mentioned, they are adding 3% to your bill if you debit or credit. I'm just not a fan of this practice. A place near the tracks in Lake Villa does this and I'm kind of avoiding them now. A family dinner for three checks in at $90, which I just can't justify paying for a place like this. It's a tough and expensive market out there these days. I'm just going to sit this out until things come back to reasonable - if they ever do. read more

Have been driving by this place almost daily on my way to work and finally decided to stop in and so glad I did. Surprised there are not many reviews yet! The margaritas were pretty good, wish they had a few more flavors to choose from though like "jalapeño margarita"??? I had the burrito Suezo and it was great, and very large. I got just the burrito and passed on the beans and rice, and it was HUGE, and still had half of it left over. My husband got the 4 tacos and tried the Mexican sausage, coca-cola chicken, and rib eye. Felt the coca-cola was by far the best, I've heard a lot about coca-cola chicken but never tried it, definitely had a depth of flavor! The service was great, staff were at our table often asking if we needed anything. Ambiance was also nice, I look forward to visiting when it's warmer so we can sit outside on the patio! Pretty yummy eats! There are many options and some unique specialty items as well. We went with a group and basically created a table buffet. Drinks seemed watered down and unflavorful in our opinion (we got margaritas). Service was not overly friendly or efficient, but they were busy and it's a pandemic right now with being short staffed, so rating is based on the food/drinks only.... The service was good but didn't feel personal. I noticed they chatted amongst themselves more then the customers. Other then that we were pleased with the experience and the food. LOVED the back patio!!!!! As we walked out my grandson was talking to the little girl feeding the chickens out back, I enjoyed seeing that. A woman came out of the restaurant and helped her. Definitely not ready for the amount of business that is here. Had to wait 15 minutes just to place an order to go.

Ordered take out form here twice and this will be the last time I order anything from there. Both times they got the order wrong, the food is less than mediocre bordering on bad and their prices are way too high for the portion size and especially the quality of the food you get. Figured the first time was was it was. Today was strike 2 the same exact way. I'll go to Taco Bell first before I come back to this place and Taco Bell sucks. Even after calling them to tell them they got The order wrong the girl on the phone could care less that she took the order wrong and no apologies given or offer to make it right. $40 for a cheese enchilada dinner, a taco dinner and 2 horchatas. What a rip off. It would have been even worse if they didn't forget the missing taco dinner. Would have been over $50 then for a small load of what I would consider garbage. The Tacos were inedible there was so much fat chunks they couldn't be eaten. The enchilada dinner was ordered with mole sauce but whatever sauce that was on the enchiladas wasn't mole. Both dinners went outside for whatever comes along to eat them. The horchatas weee pretty good but they didnt do anything to curb the hunger. I don't understand how there are so many good reviews. The menu prices don't even reflect what they actually charge. I am now on my way to Taco Bell. Literally. read more

This is my favorite place. Shrimp tacos and they have a Diablo sauce that is excellent! However, pay very very close attention to your receipt. Twice now, when we've not accepted or received guac with our chips they've put it on anyway at 7 or 8 dollars. They take it off right away, but it makes me wonder how many times we haven't examined our receipt and paid for something we didn't get. Prob just an innocent mistake but be careful.
