We had Alejandro from El Taco serve food for our pool party! This is the best taco bar I've had! Some taco bars skimp on the sides but not El Taco! 3 kinds of meat (Chicken, Beef and Pork), rice, beans, both corn and flour tortillas, a lettuce and tomato combo, cilantro and onions combo, nopalitos, pickled onions, radishes, red cabbage and Roasted Jalapeños. Plus chips and two kinds of salsa. Everything was cooked to perfection!! I especially loved the Al Pastor (Pork)! I was sooo delicious! STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS SCAM OF A BUSINESS!!! They arrived over an hour late to our party. They only gave us 1 hour of service when they contracted with us for 3 hours of service. Give your money to actual hard working people who deserve it. Not these people. Carlos is so unprofessional. You basically have to beg to get an invoice. GET YOUR INVOICE. Please listen to the other reviewers who did not have a good experience. Unfortunately, I was also one of them. I originally discovered El Taco at a friends party. I thought the tacos were decent but had noticed that they ran out of cheese, guacamole and chips by the time I went to get my food. I thought that maybe I was just late getting in line and everybody beat me to it. Fast forward 6 months. I decided to hire them for a huge 115 person party I was throwing in Santa Barbara because their costs were more reasonable than anyone here. Well...you get what you pay for! 1. I explicitly told them traffic would be bad coming from Oxnard to SB on a Sunday afternoon and to leave in plenty of time. They did not and were at least 1 1/2 hours late. It then took them another 30-40 minutes to set up and cook the meat, etc...This almost ruined the party since it was only 3 hours long. 2. Though there were plenty of tacos, they did not bring enough chips, cheese or guacamole for 115 people. Ran out after about the first 20 or so. This was extremely embarrassing as a host. I should have taken heed the first time as this seems to be a recurrent theme from what I previously experienced and from other Yelpers. 3. Correspondence is minimal and by mostly by text. No confirmations, etc... I was not kept updated on their arrival on a timely basis, just that they were running a little late. No apologies for lack of food. I was told that at least everyone got fed...Seriously?? Bottom line, El Taco knows their downfalls as I and others have stated. However, Carlos continually ignores the complaints and provides unprofessional and untimely service. The lack of enough chips/cheese and guacamole is unacceptable as they are all part of what is included in the price. Obviously, they do not care. Save yourselves the headache and find another caterer. read more

I will be transparent as possible. My family and I booked their catering service. My mother had contacted them to verify and they confirmed that they would be providing their services. To understand the bigger picture, this party we were having was for our Little sister who was turning Six Years Old! Everyone who were attending were family members and we were counting on El Taco Catering Service to feed our guest. On the day of the party, not only were they an hour late, but they canceled on us!!!! While on the call with One of the owners, Carlos, we heard kids screaming and chattering in the background. We automatically knew what was going on. We were SCAMMED!!!! They threw away our reservation for a bigger party!! NEVER EVER, in a Billion Years, EVER use El Taco Catering service!!!! After a call saving he was 1/2 away he finally got here and left to pick up something. So at 6:20 finally got here. My family had to help him, Everything was dirty.... after he cooked he had no rice ... didn't serve beans cuz they were cold... no quesadilla, no flour tortillas no lemons, no guacamole, no jalapeños, no radish, no lettuce, no cheese and the condiments Tortilla chips ran out after 20 people! During the time he was servicing tacos he bitched out his personal life. Then he packed up his stuff at 8:30 We asked him about the 3 hours he got a attitude Do the total I owed if I received what I order was $540. Since we already paid him $100 my husband paid him $500 since he didn't know I gave him money already. . The 15 minutes later he came back and asked for $50 . He wanted to argue n fight with my husband. . I gave him $50 so there would be no fight. Just to get him off my property!!! I found this business online. I spoke with Carlos on the phone over a week before the event. He said he was available for the day and time (3pm-6pm) we needed. He said to text the number and he would detail everything, letting me know they come 30 min prior to set up. I texted him the morning before the event to confirm for the date, location, and time just to make sure everything was set in place. He responded yes. The following day of the event, none showed up at set up time and so I called to make sure someone was coming and he texted me the location and asked for the city (which I already gave him). He then said give him 30 minutes, his brother-in-law is on the way. Gave me his brothers number. I asked if didn't actually schedule the event and that is why this happened. He said yes . I reiterated to him that I confirmed yesterday, and he said they're getting ready to leave. They arrived to to location around 4pm (an hour and a half late) and we let them know because of the timing of the party we would not be charged for the hour and half you didn't show up (to no fault of our own). Otherwise we wouldn't use the service. The brother-in-law said let me check with Carlos and his helper said he'd try and get it to work out because he knew we did nothing wrong and it was Carlos' fault as to why the service was NOT booked properly, there on time and prepared. The brother-in-law and Carlos did not agree to our terms. He also tried to say I lied and never gave him the address when he spoke with one of the men the party was for but I had the text messages to prove it. The team was very unprofessional. They were not polite, lacked communication, unprepared, and didn't care about the customers. I would HIGHLY recommend going with another company. As their website details different pricing than what he offered me, other businesses offer the same amount of food and sides, you'll be respected and valued as a customer. You will receive service which is most important. The guests waited for food for over an hour and watched them leave because of their pride. read more

Just came and got food right now , I don't speak Spanish so I asked for everything in English. The ladies were so rude and just gave us dirty looks . Another lady then cane out and helped everyone but us , when we were first in line . She gave us dirty looks and just stare at us and didn't even greet us. Carlos catered my wedding last weekend and his food was a huge hit! I keep hearing from my friends and family that they're craving the tacos from our big day. He was referred to me by my pastor who had used him after attending an event he was serving at. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him for anyone else. The catering included beef, pork, chicken, rice, beans, quesadilla, jalapeño poppers, tacos, corn & flour tortillas. We do some really fun house parties and we love great Mexican food. These guys bring a whole system and will custom cook things for our guests it's awesome. Last night my buddy wanted a taco made from a quesadilla and cooked on the grill and it looked insane. The meats are awesome their spread is very good and the attention to details is perfect. Let me just start with the food is amazing!! I went to a grad party in Camarillo and they were the caterer. They brought their taco cart and serve pork chicken and beef taco with all the fixings. It has been the best tacos I have eaten in a long long time. The gentlemen working the party were super friendly and accommodating. Like some of the other reviews, I don't recall being particularly impressed by the restaurant when I tried it a few years ago, but this review is for the El Taco *truck* that sits near the El Taco storefront at night. I'll just say that $3 for two tacos (double-stacked corn tortilla, onion, cilantro, salsa--i.e., the standard) with a full range of toppings and additions set up on the little table in front of the truck, including more salsa, guac, CHIPS, and more, left me feeling very happy. Let me start off by saying I rarely every write a review. However, the level of professionalism that I just got was so unprofessional I felt that I needed to share. I would also state that I have used "eltaco" several other times in the past, as recent as, September 18th, 2021! And at that time the service was great. Quickly how things change. My wife has been texting back and forth with Carlos and we asked to lock in our date. He stated to Zelle or Venmo him $200 to hold the date. Since this was new to us, I decided to text Carlos myself. Here is my text message: "Hi Carlos, you have been dealing with my wife on doing catering for our son graduation for June 18th. I tried calling you yesterday but your mail box is full. My wife was saying we had to do a deposit of $200 to reserve the date via zelle or venmo, which is like cash. Is there a contract or something that we sign showing full amount, deposit,  cancelation terms, etc? Not that we don't trust you but we have used you four other times now and never did we have to put a deposit down. I just want to be sure all parties are protected so there is no ambiguity.  If it easier, call me so we can discuss. Happy Friday! " based off that text message I got a call from Carlos with the worst attitude I have every heard saying everyone keeps screwing him over and cancel at the last min. And everyone is trying to find a way not to pay him. After 5 mins of listening to him, I ask if I can speak. I explained that the $200 is no big deal. However, if he is requesting Zelle or Venmo (which is like cash) 63 days in advance, you would think it would be best business practices to have some type of contract stipulating the full price, deposit amount, cancelation terms, etc. Carlos goes off on a rant saying no one has every question him before. I can't imagine anyone sending cash with no sort of terms and condition put in place. Either way, my experience was not a good one and thought I would share. read more

I attended my uncle's bday party this past Saturday in Oxnard. He had El Taco there to serve food. The Mexican food was yummy-good, the meat, rice and beans were so good. All the condiments were there as well. And equally as important the two guys there were so clean. There is nothing better than enjoy good food and the establishment is clean. When I first talked to Carlos the owner he seemed great but the two people he sent to serve at the baptism specially the woman that was servo g was rude...guest noticed that she didn't want to be there...usually the times I have hired taco places to cater they give you all the food that's left over...these people only gave us the tortillas and meat... they left in a rush.. was very dissatisfied...we will not be hiring them again. read more

They only reason we are the tacos were because we were hungry.
