This was my first experience with El Tapatio 6, and unfortunately, most likely my last, as my girlfriend and I were just "passing through" Flagstaff. The place was packed, and when "Patty" and I sat down, which was immediately, Patty went to the ladies room. By the time she returned to the table, 2 servers had already stopped by to attend to us, while water and a bowl of chips and salsa was on the table to help stave off our hunger. The waitress returned, and took our orders "pronto!" The margarita was huge and delicious! Our food came in a timely fashion, and was delicious. We had so much to eat, that we passed on desert, and actually ate our left overs in a hotel room the next night! We also felt the prices was reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised. This cute little restaurant is located in a building that was previously a KFC. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by e very attractive hispanic decor. The dining room was made up of all booths. Each booth was artistically decorated as murals, this includes the art work on the table itself. Now to the food... They served a complimentary order of chips and salsa, I asked for a cup of their spiciest salsa and they brought me a very spicy habanero salsa. My wife ordered a Shredded Beef Super Burrito $13.00 and I ordered a Combination Plate $12.75. The Portions where very generous. The flavor of the food was very fresh and very delicious and authentic. My Wife is from Sonora Mexico and was very happy with the authentic flavors created in this cute little restaurant. Customer service was very good, our waiter was Mario and he came to our table several times during our meal. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was quick to respond to our requests. Overall we were very happy with our experience. We will definitely be back and will also recommend this wonderful place to our f We went back to see if they were still measuring up to our expectations, the answer is yes. We decided to try El Tapatio based on the many positive reviews. However, it was our opinion that the food was less than satisfactory. I ordered a bean, cheese, and rice burrito. In my opinion, the beans, cheese and rice lacked flavor/spice. To me, the tortilla did not appear to be a raw, cooked tortilla; rather, the tortilla tasted and appeared similar to a Mission Brand tortilla. Even more surprising, the burrito was not rolled like those served in SoCal (i.e., ends closed off). Instead, the tortilla is simply rolled into a tube-shape, which allowed the interior contents to flow out of the ends. Accordingly, silver wear was required to eat the burrito. More surprising, the restaurant served my burrito with sauce dumped all over the top of it. Then, when I said I didn't order sauce all over the top, I was told that all burritos come this way. It would have been nice for that to have been clarified during the ordering process, as it was not obvious to me. For the restaurant's credit, they did take the order back and remake the burrito in line with my expectations. On a positive note, the meal came with chips and salsa, which I thought was nice. Also, I thought that the seating booths were fairly comfortable, and that the interior of the restaurant was nicer than many Mexican restaurants that I have visited. read more

We weren't sure if we'd find a decent restaurant since it was almost 10pm but they were open until midnight. This is a great Mexican restaurant in Flagstaff. We were told the wait would be 25 mins but they ended up seating us after only waiting 5-10 mins, they seem to be very efficient in this way. I was disappointed to be told that every single sauce except for the green salsa had peanuts (I'm allergic) but I told them to just slather the green salsa on my enchiladas and I'll be happy, which they did and took off a couple bucks since the salsa is, I'm assuming less expensive than what it would've came with, which was very nice and unexpected. I loved my enchiladas, absolutely crushed them in record time. My fiancee only ate one and a half of her enchilada trio, if she didn't get the sauce with the peanuts I could've cleaned up for her lol. Unfortunately she didn't like hers as much as I did but this is my review not hers. My mojito was very nice and strong; good service too. There's a ton of Mexican restaurants in the area and I've only been to this one but I'd recommend you at least consider this place before choosing which to go to. read more

We went here at about 11:30 on a Sunday morning and we were seated right away. COVID-safe dividers were in place on all the booths, and every staff member I saw was wearing a mask. There was a sign asking patrons to wear a mask any time they left the table. On the minus side, they did have plastic menus, and took our glasses to the kitchen for refills (thus handling our glasses multiple times) but I felt as safe as you can when eating out. A restaurant with potential ruined by their terrible service. I could almost get past the mediocre food if I didn't have to choke down the sour service. The staff is rude and won't acknowledge you when you walk in, anytime you ask for anything - you're made to feel like a huge inconvenience and they congregate at the front of the restaurant snickering and making fun of their customers in Spanish. One of the best Mexican places in town. It hit all the standards out of the park: Great Margs, salsa, guacamole. Their homemade sauces are wonderful. The Mole and Chipotle sauces in particular are amazing. My fav dishes are the pork shanks in mole sauce, chile rellenos, and the Tampequena. My wife loves the enchiladas and chimis. The chimis are mini chimis and always prepared to perfection. If you're real hungry and want to share I recommend the Mocaljete. The fajitas are very popular but we're not fajita people so can't speak to the quality there. The staff is awesome too! Erica and Brenda are the bomb. The owner is around often at night and is always friendly and stops by the table to say hi. We go at least once a week week. Couldn't speak more highly of this place. read more

I have really gotten to love this place on my visits to Flagstaff. This was my first visit since the pandemic - though I am usually getting take out to head back to my hotel - but the staff was observing COVID safety guidelines and folks eating inside seemed well separated as groups. They always pack your take out with some chips and salsa (I request extra salsa for other dishes) - and meals nicely garnished with onions and sliced radishes. My favorite Mexican in flagstaff hands down. Their tacos are amazing. Their beans taste clean and authentic. They have HUGE Margaritas and the most friendly staff in town.
