Service was not great. Once the waitress finally got to our table she greeted us with a smile and then once she realized my toddlers were having fun playing with eachother she turned her smile into annoyance. (They weren't screaming nor crying) . She got our orders and then she didn't come back for another 30 mins. We were missing items, needed refills and wanted napkins. She kept passing by our table looking a different direction as if she was completly ignoring us . We had to start asking for help from the bussers because our waitress just would not show up. Finally once she came to our table, her attitude came off as if we were interrupting her. I can understand when nights are packed and busy. You can't be everywhere at once. However, if you are helping your other 3 tables only ,who do not have kids at the table , and completely ignore the one table with kids, I think this is an issue. The sign says 9am open. They advertised "Brunch". We arrive at 10:30 and are told they're not open till 11 and told they're not doing brunch until late November mid December and just put the sign out this morning . So we waited till 11 to get in. We were the first ones seated (party of 4) and there was a long line. Once seated, we waited over an hour for someone to take our order. Everybody else that came in after us had already eaten. We discussed our dissatisfaction with the manager, at least he said he was the manager‍, and he offered us a free drink, which is almost comical at this point. We get our food and the food was probably a 3/5. I ordered a shrimp molcajete. It literally was filled to the brim with salsa Verde with beans floating in it and some shrimp. Way too much sauce. It was like the ingredients were floating in a salsa Verde soup. Let's just say this is definitely not like the sunrise location. If it's the same owners, they know how to run a business and know how to make food. It's a little confusing on what we experience. However, they did sing happy birthday to my friend. Anybody knows when you open a restaurant you need to have everything ready, don't open if your short staff or you're not ready to mirror your other locations. People won't return. We definitely want to try to give them another chance and hope to return when they have brunch because this is an extremely convenient location. I just think taking 25% off our bill was not enough.. $20 off $170.00 for the three hour excursion. Just didn't seem equal. But at least they recognized their ongoings. read more

We are so excited to have such a delicious, family friendly, and fun spot in Natomas! Everyone from the hostess to the manager was on their game and making sure we had refills of chips, booster seats for the kids, Togo boxes, and grabbed the check when we were ready. They were crazy busy for a Thursday night but still didn't miss a beat. We got the bean and cheese burrito for the kids, it came with rice and beans. It was open-ended so we just cut it for them, but they loved it! We got the Cadillac margarita and the pineapple jalapeño margarita, the pineapple was our favorite! My husband got the birria tacos that came highly recommended and I got the Camarones a la crema with the cilantro rice and flour tortillas, it was so good. El Tapatio is probably the best sit-down, full service Mexican restaurant in Natomas. El Tapatio is an improvement over the Mexican restaurant that formerly occupied the same space, On The Border. We went the first weekend it was open when it was super crowded. Service was mostly good but it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. Our waitress apologized for the wait. Our 2nd visit was one month later, the restaurant was still busy on a Saturday night but the food arrived much quicker. We had the sampler plate (taquitos, mini-quesadilla, chicken wings, and cheese nachos) for appetizers. For entrees, we had the pork carnitas, chicken fajitas, and the Deluxe Enchiladas Tapatia (flour tortilla with meat with enchilada sauce, jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream on top). The food was very tasty. Service was friendly and we were checked on frequently. There was a mariachi roaming the restaurant for live music. I highly recommend El Tapatio in Natomas. read more

We had an 11:00am reservation for a party of 14 to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday, with family that came in from out of town specifically for this meal. Everyone arrived on time, hungry, and excited to celebrate together. Right before seating time, we were told our reservation didn't exist. When we showed proof of the reservation, the host checked in the back and returned with paperwork confirming it the reservation, date, and time -- only to ask us to come back at 12:30. That wasn't an option. This was a birthday celebration, not a casual drop-in, and the lack of customer service and willingness to honor their own reservation system completely ruined our plans. Rather than making a scene, we chose to leave and find another restaurant. It was disappointing, especially on a day meant to celebrate her. My coworkers had my retirement luncheon here. The service was great, food delicious and margaritas bomb! The ambiance is nice. It's where On the Border used to be, so the inside hasn't changed much. The Bad: food took a really long time to arrive, server disappeared for an extended period of time, when food arrived, dish was severely overcooked and inedible (molcajete), and when this was communicated to manager (Mario) he argued with us and told us we were wrong. Really upset on the service we had a big size party and explained ahead of time how we were splitting checks. The person that took the orders was told how each check was being divided and what was on each check. Food came out and very unprofessional mentioned to a coworker that her plate was a little bit hot mind you instead of them placing it on the table he just gave it to her in her hands ( that plate was burning hot) not a little hot my coworker literally dropped the plate as soon as she grabbed it. My issue here is that he didnt bother to ask about the checks since he seem confused and just did one side of the tables and asked what they had and just left whatever was left to another check. When we received our check there was items no one had order and my food wasnt even on it instead a different item was on it. Explained this to the waiter and told them that it was incorrect and came at me with an attitude saying to figure out who had that and that is why he went around and asked what everyone had ate which i told him he never cane to ask us at all. And i told him i wasnt not going to be paying for something i didnt even eat . And asked him to get his manager which he didnt he just would go walk away and come back. They did remove a drink that no one had order mind you my food item was $18.99 and they were charging me $24.99 for something completely different all i got from him was "ill speak to the the manager to see if we can discount" he cane back with a -$2.00 and i told him what i ate is not even that price and i had been there previously literally a few days before and showed him the receipt for the same food item $18.99 he took my previous receipt to apparently speak to a manager which i never spoke to nor seen after requesting it. He comes back and the discount on the item was -$4.00 mind you im being charged for a food that i didnt eat nor order for the amount of $24.99. Yet he had the decency ti say that the food i order was a different price thats when I told him on the menu it shows the price and i have a previous receipt for the same food item. Im just very disappointed on the service and how i end up being overcharged for something will have to re think in coming back here for any time of events read more

We have been trying to find a good Mexican restaurant in Sacramento and we found it, El Tapatio was fabulous, The staff is extremely well trained, attentive and very friendly. The food was excellent, my lovely lady had the Spinach enchilada and rave over the freshness and wonderful taste, my meal was great also. The Margaritas were good sized and very tasty.. the interior is very nicely decorated. It is difficult to hit all the needs of diners but this place does. We talked to the manager and he explained that everything is fresh, no canned or pre prepared food is used. Be aware although it just recently opened it is very crowded. We decided to try this newish restaurant today (Tuesday) for lunch. We really enjoy Mexican restaurants and are used to having a variety to choose from having lived near South Sacramento (El Novillero, La Hacienda, Vientos). We were happy to find a sit down Mexican restaurant in Natomas that came highly recommended. My husband ordered a chile verde burrito bowl and he said it was very tasty, but it seemed smallish to me. I decided to try something different and ordered the steak fries. They were delicious, especially the tender marinated pieces of steak. Overall, we were pleased with the food. The service is the reason for the loss of one star. Our waiter pretty much disappeared after taking our order. He went off and was working on a sign for Taco Tuesday. That's fine, but he should of asked someone else to take care of us. We had to flag down other servers to get drink refills. My husband had to get up and approach the kitchen for more chips. The waiter returned just in time to give us our bill. The place is very nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. Overall, the staff is friendly for the most part. Well, in my personal opinion, this is one of the few places where I've been where you get your money is worth. To begin with the decoration. Makes you feel right at home , second, it's the food, of course, but the food without the service. It's nothing the attention that you get from all the staff. It's above and beyond. I mean, This Guys Walk On Water For You to Give You and make you feel right at home. In my opinion, this place will get 85 star all day. Long. I forgot to ask if they have hot chocolate cause the end you always want something. Hot and a Mexican pastry, I love the handmaid tortillas. There was just of the hook not to mention the beans with that being said, if you go there, don't be surprised that Mario and Omar will give you the best welcome as soon as you set foot in the restaurant, they just welcome you and make you feel right at home.
