Great food for a late night bite! Open late! Tacos are so filling and packed with meat wrapped by two tortillas! Ask to have their chips with pico de gallo.

What a great little spot open late night! I had some friends visiting and we were out late last Thursday, we were craving something to eat and almost no spots were open. Luckily we found El Tarasco nearby and we're delighted with some great service and delicious Mexican food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance also felt very authentic and casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Overall: 3.75/5

Huge portions and delicious food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very small, no frills, extremely casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Most people were picking up to go orders. While we were there, they were always busy with patrons and pick up orders which is a testament to the tasty food and moderate prices.

I used to live here and would frequent an Italian restaurant so decided to stop by and sadly the restaurant closed! I wanted to hang out and have dinner so of course I yelped and the reviews got me here. What disappointment! The meat had no taste, kind of chewy, rice was Ok and hardly any lettuce (why bother) and the sauce was average. The waitress is new (so she said) because I was asking for suggestions and was told that blue lettered items are the most popular so decided to try the "carne asada" wet burrito. It was a decent size. I got a spicy margarita and it was just Ok. It's a nice atmosphere slightly loud but not bad. The restaurant is decorated nicely. The waitress was attentive. Definitely not a 4 star restaurant IMO. They need to up their game!

This place was amazingly delicious! My husband and I came here just for taco. There's a guy named Oscar recommended their Saturday special wet burrito and it was really freshly hot, huge and it was seasoned well! The service was fast and they are all smiling as you entered and greeted you with enthusiastic attitude ( love that) . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was small so it's better if you do phone orders instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I ordered the Monday special with Asada which was extra and the meat had little to no taste. The tortilla wasn't good and the sauce was too watery. The whole plate was bland. The best part of my order was the tostadas and salsa that comes free along with it. I wouldn't eat here again and don't recommend.

I'm not sure if I should get 3 stars because ordering shrimp on my nachos was extra $4 dollars just for them to not devein the shrimp or clean it basically a turd in the shrimp!!!

I came here for dinner on a Sunday night and my experience here was pretty good! My family and I shared the following dishes: -Chicken and Steak Fajitas: The meat was flavorful and tender. They came with warm homemade tortillas and it was tasty. -Chicken Taquitos: These were tasty, but a little less crunchy than I would like for my taquitos. -Chicken Enchiladas: Solid, saucy, and cheesy. -Chicken Tamale: Also solid and moist. -Shrimp Fajitas: Plump shrimp and tasty. -Chips and Salsa: Tasty and crunchy and I love the heat from the salsa. Birthday Flan: Creamy, custardy, and not too sweet. Honestly, there were no misses here. Everything was tasty, flavorful, and nothing was too dry. The prices were also good and not too overpriced for Mexican food considering the area. The service here was pretty good and efficient. Parking is metered parking. The food here was not mind-blowing and I would still opt for other places though. However, it is a solid pick for a restaurant and Mexican food in Manhattan Beach.

Unfortunately, each time I feel that the service isn't quite the same. Nothing huge but little things here and there. But I recently came for happy hour on a Saturday, sat at the bar by myself, and was not acknowledged for almost 15 minutes. What made it worse was there were gentlemen on either side of me who got another beverage and the check without me getting a menu. They even noticed and gave me their menus! And said they'll try to get the bartenders attention for me. *awkward* but also so nice of them. I eventually ordered - my beverages were delicious and the food was good. BUT there was a HAIR IN MY CEVICHE. Ughhh and that's when I decided I needed to re-review. Look, I obviously still love Mercado bc I'm keeping 4 Stars. Will I come back? Yes. But I will continue to be mindful of service and quality / cleanliness.

We were staying near LAX and I didn't want to drive too far, so we stumbled upon this Mexican spot in the cutest little downtown area ever. El Segundo, you are THAT b*tch! We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately (thank goodness). Our server was super duper friendly and even had multiple conversations with us throughout the meal, sharing anecdotes and talking to my tattoo artist friend about getting a tat from her LOL. We quickly ordered some chips and queso (not free) and were blown away by how creamy and tasty the queso was. The tortas were also delicious and easy to scoop a lot of cheese on to. On to the menu, they had a good variety of Mexican dishes, but the price point, man. I thought $4-5 a taco at Barrio Queen in Arizona was steep, but this place charged $7-8 for a single small taco. I would've been okay with any menu item since it's Mexican and nothing under that cuisine could be bad, but seeing each enchilada over $30, made me steer clear of the main entree dishes. I also knew I wanted to try fish tacos, so I just opted for one fish taco and one grilled taco, with a side of mashed black beans. Crazy that some black beans also were at least $5. The fish taco was nicely battered and the guacamole was ripe and creamy, but the grilled chicken taco was nothing spectacular. There was also cauliflower tacos and beef brisket tacos ordered among us. My friend who ordered the beef brisket taco rated it 7.5/10, whereas the cauliflower tacos were rated 9/10. The food also took at least 20 minutes to arrive at the table. Both sauces my tacos came with were extremely spicy so I didn't even touch those. My friends enjoyed their meals, and the side of green rice two of them got was rather tasty. Overall, our server was the best part of the experience. She really ate DOWN, whereas our food and the price point did not.

When I was thinking of writing this review, I imagined explaining that I had not been to this…read moreeatery in years. And that much is true, I went in 2023 because I wrote a Yelp then for that experience. And I continue to believe it is a "solid choice." I can see how it can lend itself, and be enjoyable, to many eaters. And how its beach adjacent location draws many sandal wearers and surfers gone business casual for the night. So I will begin my focusing on what I thought was our servers faux pa. My friend Conrad and I hang out on spin mode, with the cycle never really stopping. So we kind of have an implicit expectation that sometime during our time together we will break bread. But on this ocassion, I had already eaten and he had not. This does not mean that his hunger would be true until we parted ways. We could eat together, even if I was not eating. We were by the joint so we decided to eat there because I wanted to share with him what I have found to be consistently solid and pleasant. While we were there we got a table for two. We informed our server that only Conrad would be eating, since I had already. And he gave a look. Yes, a look that I interpreted as a mix of confusion and judgement- which together makes out of place bewilderment. Why? I can totally see a pair of folks being too embarrassed to go into a restaurant, especially, a nice place like Manhattan Beach Post if only one was eating. Again, I can understand that easily. I mean people are shy and unwilling to insert themselves in situations that are non standard. But then there is other people. The people who wear PJs to the store, who rock hair of a purple shade, and well, others have grown so old that eating with a friend while they are not eating, is not embarrasing, rather just the steps of an unplanned evening. To be more specific, I think the server should have saved his "not even a drink" and proceeding confused face to himself. Conrad and I had valid reasons for entering and not dining as a duo and he should have responded with undersstanding, not just like I had said I was so hungry I could eat bigfoot raw. In short contrast, I offer the host of the place, Crystal. While eating with Conrad I did taste just a wee bit of his four cheese ear shaped pasta- Orichette- and his biscuit. The biscuit is strong but with the maple butter it sings hard, give this buttered biscuit a stage at Madison Square garden or that famous opera house in Sydney. The Orichette was also super good but one of the cheeses had like this chalky taste. It did not taste bad, but also not good, which made me engage with the dish at an analytical way. And personally, when food makes me think, I love it. Crystal heard a version of this dialogue and engaged with me saying that she feels the same way because it makes her feel like a food critic. She also asked me to go when I was hungry. Service like hers makes a place shine. Service like the server gave us makes me question why there was no guard at the door ensuring that both of us had an appetitte. The decor of the place is one that I have seen in the recent the weeks---- brown with live plants. It is lovely. It is both muted and alive. This place has been around for years and will survive my review. And I do plan to go again. And I will make sure to be hungry. I am not sure if I can guarantee that for the person I take but I will try my best.
