I went here for the first with my brother it was his treat. We were greeted by a nice gentleman which guide us to the elevator, he pushed the button for the eleventh floor to the enclosed roof top was.Once there we ck out the view it was ok,once seated we asked for a drink that was on the menu,the waiter stated the were out of certain liquor, we ordered whiskey with ginger ale and was told they didn't have ginger ale,mind you they had been open for just an hr.The food selection was very smal and it was only tacos that's all not a great selection.My brother asked for the fried pork rinds and guacamole, when it arrived it was the dry pork rings that you buy at the grocery store,it wasn't what we expected luckily the guacamole was good.Overall I gave it a two star because the waiter was nice and the place is nice,a little pricey for selection of food that they have,but I guess that's the price you pay for dinning downtown.I wish i had taken fotos. Awesome place! We came here after our first brunch spot to continue festivities and el Techo was the perfect level up! It's located on the 11th floor of the condesa. Shorter rooftop experience but it still has a great view and the drinks that come with it make it ever better! The music was great and it filled up fast on a Saturday when we got there a little after it was opened! Definitely recommend for a nice day or even a little hazy one because they have retractable roof which is A+++ read more

Cute cute rooftop bar! Be warned it's kindof confusing to find from the street... you enter a mexican restaurant called Condesa, and take the elevators up to the rooftop deck. Frankly I wasn't looking at the views which some other reviewers have mentioned aren't great, but I was really enjoying the atmosphere with string lights all across the seating area. Drinks were good and you just open a tab on your phone so ordering was super fast and really easy to pay with friends and order more as we went. Also, the bathroom was very nice (cute & clean). I had a good time there... I'm not raving about it to strangers on the street but I would go back for a chill (get it, cuz it's outside??) night out! read more

I knew going to this place it wasn't going to be the most authentic place but damn the food literally had no seasoning. The chips were over priced bagged Tostitos, most places make they're own chips. The guac had giant chunks of cilantro with barely any salt. Tacos were okay at best. They didn't have a lot of variety of drinks. Cool new spot on the top of the Motto hotel! The bar is modern with elements of scandanavian design. We went around 11pm on a saturday and was able to get a table for 2! Their drinks were standard, with most mezcal drinks. They use Toast so its an easy way for you to order and pay for your drinks. They also have a roof that retracts overhead if its a rainy day! read more

If you're coming for drinks this place seems like fun but if you're eating it's definitely not the place. You order off of a QR code and the server comes over once to bring water. We ordered a margarita pitcher for $59 and it filled 3 glasses which were $14 each. You may as well get a normal drink. It would've been cheaper to just get the individual drinks but there's no server to tell you that. Also college kids asses in your face as you eat at a table with zero space. Will not be returning to this place the atmosphere is no good and the experience was sub par. It's a shame because the food wasn't horrible. read more

I NEVER FEEL THE NEED TO WRITE REVIEWS, however my experience here with Paul the "supervisor " was horrendous . I disliked my tacos but Paul treated me as if I could not express my dislike , as if it was my table against him !!! I I didn't know that I couldn't express my dislikes that we paid for !!! Idk what the problem was with some of these folks in the reviews because the tacos were POPPING. I had the chicken and the shrimp and omg, *chefs kiss*. Food was very good but the vibe was mad pretentious. Our waitress was really getting in our business about what/how to order. Ma'am, I know what a taco is and how much food it is. I know how hungry I am and what amount of money I'm prepared to spend. I'm sorry you're disappointed we're not ordering more, but as your customer I really shouldn't feel that disappointment dripping onto my table. I'd rather take the extra time to get down to any number of family-run taco joints in South Philly that feed you good and don't condescend--and by the way, how can you stick your noses up at your customers when you serve water in plastic cafeteria cups that I can see you struggling to unstick from one another? Explicitly for bartender- was expecting a good experience per the review but stosh was a not so warm welcome not allowing us to order the drinks we wanted. After ordering a different drink on the menu he then complained about the tip. Really cool vibe! It's pretty new-the upstairs roof top bar in the Condesa. There was a mini line when I went (7pm ish) but not as bad as the staff said earlier for happy hour. So either get there before happy hour or after 7-you still might have to wait a little to get in the elevator but no more than 10 min. Keep ur group small though, it was just me +1. Got seated pretty quickly and got a bottle of red. Their wine is natural and the server gave us a tasting before we got it and it actually was damn good. Never had natural wine I think so this was something I'm def getting in the future. Views are fire! I hope they keep this open all year with some heaters or something. read more

Amazing atmosphere. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was in another country. Just felt and feels like I left Philadelphia for a bit. Hands down nothing can bet that. I do Wish the music was a bit lower so I could hear my conversation better but then again I can't hear anyone else's conversation then so I guess it works. View is okay. Your surrounded by alot of the building in the area so it kinda defeats the purpose but they make up for it with an open glass roof and big garage windows. Food was good. Can't complain. Had a great time here and with an unseasonably warm November night, had the roof open! The staff were all so helpful walking us up to the elevator and also to our table. They made sure we were comfortable with the QR ordering, but then left us alone - no annoying follow ups. Ordered the Margarita + make it spicy, which delivered on the first sip! The two tacos I got, shrimp & sweet potato, were also delicious and so large! The price may seem high for one taco but the filling/quantity and quality match. I love El Techo. Considering that the tortillas are freshly made everyday and the quality of the food, the price is good. There are a lot of negative reviews saying that the restaurant is loud. Yeah, it's one of the busiest rooftop bars in philly, it's going to be loud. Having a tough time getting a seat? Same answer. People are here to party and have some awesome tacos. El Techo was absolutely amazing! Let me first start off by saying that the service was out of this world. They were extremely attentive, had a great attitude and we literally felt like family. El Techo has an online ordering platform which was super convenient and the food came out extremely fast. Let me tell you...the Bistec tacos were to die for. That was probably the best steak taco I have ever had. My friend got the shrimp and chicken tacos which she said were also amazing. The queso fundido was a little bit different than what I'm normally used to. It was more watery and the taste was different, but it wasn't bad. The margaritas were also good. We ended the meal with the Flan & Caramel popsicles and you NEED to try it. SO delicious. Aside from the service and food, the atmosphere is incredible. When I heard that there was a rooftop bar at our hotel I figured I had to check it out since we're only here for one night. Definitely not what I think of when I think rooftop bar. The look of it is nice but that's about it. The space was enclosed. Very Very noisy. Definitely have to speak up to hear the person sitting across from you. Also there aren't many cocktails to choose from. I got the Aguila and my husband got the Frozen. Both were pretty bad. Whatever they lined my Aguila with tasted like cigarette ash and I only drank my drink cause I paid for it and didn't want to completely waste my money. The Frozen actually made me gag when I tried to have a couple sips of it. My husband said he couldn't bear to finish it and I thought it couldn't be that bad- but it was. Place could be a really great spot if they just got a good mixologist or some kind of help with their cocktail menu and ingredients. read more

My friends and I were excited to try this place and everything about it was just not it. The staff was honestly really rude with the exception of the upstairs hostess and the food runner with glasses. We waited at the bar downstairs until we were let upstairs, and the female bartender wouldn't ring up our margs separately even though no tab had been created, she just didn't feel like clicking two extra buttons on her literal hand held tablet. We asked to have a full rim of salt instead of half and they said no. We asked to send back a drink that tasted really off and they said "idk if we are allowed to waste it." If the point of this place was great views, then the place gets its right. But if the point of this place was, good food, good drinks and good service, then they got all that absolutely wrong. The food is sub par and over priced. The drinks are OKAY. But the worst part is the service. After a drunk customer broke a bottle of hot sauce that splattered all over our group, we reported to the server who then sent the manager over to us. We were told that he knew the drunk customer and that he was human too (oh good to know). There was no apology, no offer to get us a round of drinks or even an offer to pay for dry cleaning our clothes. The manager threw a couple of cheap El Techo tshirts our way and went about his business. We visited El Techo around 6:30 on a Monday evening in April and overall had a very nice experience. We sat on the upper rooftop level. There were several open tables when we arrived, and we picked a great table with a gorgeous view. We really enjoyed getting to seat ourselves and order from the menu and pay on our phone; even though we did not need a waiter in order to place our order, the wait staff was very attentive and made sure we were happy and that our water glasses were full. We taste-tested 4-5 different tacos and were really enjoyed them all, although they are bit smaller in portion size than I would have expected. The steak taco was my personal favorite. Our appetizer, the Queso Fundido with salsa verde, was also delicious and the perfect size for two people to share. Our food was brought to our table in less than 10 minutes after ordering. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at El Techo and would come back! We had no issues with noise level or over-crowding on a weekday for dinner. read more

There's zero tequila in the margs. They're not even audacious enough to just have them be marg mix so they're just watery sugar. The tacos come out as they're ready and if you order a bunch of different tacos they don't give them to you as you ordered but like all the chicken tacos are on one plate all the pork tacos are on one plate which is a little confusing if you are with any more than two people because everyone's trying to figure out what's what and who ordered what.
