I come here all the time. I get great service and amazing food. Anyone that's in the AV should come check it out.

This place is right around the corner from our house. It looks like a dive from the outside but it has 'character'. Every time we drove past it I would say "Lets go there someday" so tonight we did. When we first walked in we were greeted by alot of loud drunk chicks at the bar near the entrance. One kept yelling "I'm not married, I'm not married". It was annoying but entertaining at the same time. It took them a long time to take our order. Finally when they did my husband ordered a 3 item combination plate and I ordered two crispy chicken tacos. We also tried their meatball soup. The idea of this scared me at first but it was very tasty. The chips were good and there was mild and spicy salsa but it wasn't really spicy at all. Overall, a good experience even with the drunk, crazy, not married lady hanging out in the bar. read more

Very disappointed! Chips and salsa was different in every cup.... One look spoiled and the other one didn't. My waiter seem very reluctant to serve us...We had to find him to ask for refills. The chicken and beef nachos were okay( I've had better)The only thing that was good was the strawberry margarita.I think the menu was overpriced . read more

I'd give it 3.5 stars overall yet rounded it to a 4. The location is an older looking spot. We had wanted to try this place as we've been at the AV a lot in the past two weeks. We got in for dinner and were seated. Service was fine yet not very personable but at least our food got to us in reasonable time and we didn't feel neglected. I had a beef burrito dinner and bf had a tostada salad. Both were pretty good as were the chips and salsa. I would go back again to this location or try another one of their locations. read more

Food is awesome, I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas and there were delicious......but unfortunately the restaurant is filthy, tables and bathrooms etc..... Place needs an update. read more

I've been eating here a few times three to five times already and they've been pretty good their posole is really good and the menudo to I highly recommend the Sunday brunch and the price is reasonable the only thing is they don't include soda for the price. If you're ever in the area give them a try good service too, chips and salsa are also good thank you good day. read more

I have eaten here a few times over the years. The food was so good and fast friendly service. But now the food and service has changed. Waited 20 min to get a soda My wife order a burrito. Took 10min to get sour cream and guacamole. I had the sun day buffet. The food wasn't that good. I was saddened. read more

I love El Toreo. I have dined at the one of 10th in Palmdale, the one off L on the westside of Lancaster, and the one of 25th and S in Palmdale. The food is the same at all... GREAT. And the margaritas... wonderful. For $4.50 you get an authentic margarita that actually contains TEQUILA... not like some of the stingy watered down chains around here... and the food is very reasonable (most plates under $10). The service is fast, and my drink rarely remains empty. And to comment on the person complaining that his waiter didn't speak English.... that's what you just might get if you want AUTHENTIC Mexican food. If you want English, go to El Torito by the mall. I have never had any problems communicating with my waiters, and I've never received the wrong order. One of the BEST things about all the El Toreo's, is you'll rarely ever have to wait more then 15 minutes to get a table... read more

This is a long time Palmdale tradition . A lot of Mexican restaurants have come and gone, but this one has been here before the mall! I have been going here since I was a kid. It's just good ol' Mexican food. You can build relationships with the servers because they have been there for years. Margaritas are great! Place sucks charge 9.50$ with Tax for a asada burrito the size of a frozen Tinas burrito for a quarter at the store. The place is old and dirty water stains on ceiling they keep it dark so you can't see look closely. read more

I looooovvvveeeeeee El Toreo. It doesn't matter which location you go to as the food is the same at all of them. I like to start with a bowl of albondegas soup and follow it up with the #15 combo of carne asada steak with two cheese enchiladas. Add a Pacifico or two and you're gold! read more

Horrible service, but good margaritas! If it wasn't for the margaritas I would never come back here. When you do arrive be prepared to get ignored as if you are invisible. The staff all stand around in the back talking and doing absolutely nothing as you wait patiently for a menu or chips and salsa. Needs better costumer service skills. read more

Once again, you walk in and the smell of bleach about knocks you over. We called in an order to pick up. We walk in and stood there, with another lady that was there before us, for about 5 minutes before any of the rude waiters even acknowledged us. They are so unorganized, it's frustrating. No hostess, the waiters are rude, there's no actual entrance. When you walk in, you feel like you are in their storage closet. By the time one of the waiters decided to check on our food, and we got it home, it was cold and soggy. read more

I don't even think this place deserves a star. I ordered albondigas soup when I was sick and I was so disappointed in the soup. It was salty. Only two meat balls and very small size. My friend ordered a wet burrito. It was saggy and very bland. She really wanted a torta but they ran out of bread for it and offered sour dough bread instead. I won't be returning. read more

We used to come here every week but probably never again. We found a hair in our food and a fly in our drink when we told a employee he said we had to tell our waiter then he just ignored us. Also the whole place stunk like it was bathed in bleach it's not easy to eat when you are inhaling those fumes. read more

I was not satisfied with my fish taco. I was very disappointed. I thought my fish taco was batter dipped in a hard shell with shredded cabbage. Nope I had just pieces of fish and a flour tortilla. The only thing I enjoyed was the tortilla chips and salsa. The service was ok. read more

AAww Hell to the naw . Anytime you are waiting for your food and a ROACH decides to come and crawl on top of the booth where your sitting at it's time to go . Loveeee this place. So family orientated. They always make me and my family feel at home here. We love their food and their hospitality. The fact that they're a family business and have their own family working and learning the business, work ethics and integrity is beyond commendable. They're great and molding our future. read more

While this is a good place to come for a margarita and chips and salsa, the food lately has left a lot to be desired. On a recent visit, we had a shrimp burrito, a personal favorite that has generally been consistent over the last few years until this last visit. For $12, this shrimp burrito had very little shrimp and what shrimp was there was well the smallest shrimp ever seen. When the waiter and then manager were called to say we weren't happy, their only answer was that that owner recently changed the size of the shrimp and that we should come back in when the owner was available. That was their answer for an unhappy guest who couldn't see value for money. It was disappointing to say the least after coming here so regularly for years to get this kind of response. read more

Used to work here years ago with Alfredo. This place would constantly get rats and is extremely filthy. Lamps don't get cleaned and accumulate lots of dirt\ dust. Booths are never cleaned, all food particles just get hidden under them. Cooks can be real nasty often time not performing basic hygiene. read more

If I could give a negative one I would. I asked if they had happy hour and the horrible manager said. We don't have happy hour today, tomorrow, never and hung up on me. Than I called back asked to speak to the manager... Well the guy who hung up on me was the manager. I asked him why he was so rude to me. We stopped here one night when it was pouring and we were all hungry. There is ample parking and it is cute on the outside. The inside is dark and oudated. I was expecting really great homecooked Mexican and got taco bell fare (and quite pricey at that). Also they had a large party and their waitstaff was very inattentive. This place sucked... I've already had fast food mexican at a few places in Palmdale that were twice as good at half the price. Service was ok but the food was just bland and tasteless. Also the torta size was ridiculously small. My sons tacos were burnt as well. Will not be eating here again. I'd rather have taco bell (and I really dislike taco bell)... Even if this place were the same price. One more thing, this place has ridiculous prices for what you get. $13 for a torta thats the size of a mcrib... Sad. It's kinda a divey, hole in the wall, but let's be honest...that's how you want you Mexican food to be. There are nights I just gotta have me some el toreo. Our family does take out from here frequently and we always have a good meal. Portions are big and make for great leftovers. The go-to's are cheese enchiladas, carne asada burrito, tacos al carbon, and a good ol bean and cheese burrito smothered in enchilada sauce...yum. Oh and don't forget chips and salsa...and do yourself a favor and ask for the flour chips, friggin awesome! read more

This place amazed me with their portion size. I ordered some guacamole and I thought that $6.00 (or so) was a little expensive for an a side of guacamole, but when I got it all I have to say is OH MY GOD!! It was huge, and delicious. Their Fluata's (I know I spelled that wrong) are huge and amazing. All I have to say is you definitely get what you paid for and believe me it is delicious. The waiters and servers need a little improvement on their friendliness and customer service skills, but their food definitely makes up for it. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

Have been going to this place for years now when we head up to the AV to visit family, Now it's not the best Mexican food but.....it is the best I've found up in Red Neck ville AV, over the years this place has not changed could use a makeover/remodel but the food is not bad and actually the MOLE is REAL GOOD. I guess my main complaint is not about the food as I said it's not bad but the Decor and service stinks, it never really matters if they are busy or not the service is SLOW.........this place would never make it in Los Angeles but I guess the pace is different in the AV. In a place where it is hard to find decent Mexican food I must say this is one of the best places in the AV. I grew up in New Mexico and I like my food spicy and I do mean spicy. See when your spoiled with eating red and green chile on a daily basis and then you move to a place to where everything is just so plain it kind of gets discouraging. Even tho it's not the food I am accustomed to, El Toreo is OK in my book, the beans are almost like home cooking the rice isn't undercooked and the enchiladas are delicious. I would still kill for some New Mexico chile to be served at one of our establishments over here tho. read more
