I went here later in the evening for an anniversary dinner. The drinks were large and relatively flavorless-.-I don't know any el Toreo that can make a decent margarita. The food was a big disappointment. It was barely warm and lacked flavor. It tasted like a Swanson's tv dinner. The restaurant itself appeared dingy and dirty. Looking at other reviews I can only suppose things were so terrible because we went there late at night. All I know about this place is that all my parents friends love it for some unknown reason to us- every time we've gone it's been disgusting, sub-par food. My "fondest" memory of El Toreo was watching my mom's friend peel her solid, caked-on, crusty enchilada sauce off the plate and setting it on top of her enchilada before taking a bite. I really REALLY love this place. I have to agree, whoever says it's tex Mex is on something - Ganja, PCP, something! This place is delicious! The chips and salsa are incredible, the flautas melt in your mouth and the margarita's taste great and will get you eff'ed up!!! I love El Toreo!!! I used to go to El Toreo's all of the time but moved and I just went back yesterday on my way out of Lancaster. Hard to believe after like 10 years the prices are still the same - inexpensive. Service was great and we got called Amigo's the entire time! :) No waiter lapse here! Good stuff, happy times. If there's anything negative it would be that a bunch of cops came in with a loud radio, I mean LOUD and they should have turned it down (it's like they wanted us to hear it) and everyone eating was annoyed. El Toreo West is absolutely amazing. Like a few other reviewers on here, I have been frequenting this place since I was a kid. Yes, it is a little on the outdated inside and somewhat dark but who cares? People don't frequent El Toreo for the style; it's the terrific food and the ammmaaaazzzzing Margaritas that keep people coming back time and time again! I love the chips and salsa, which of course are bottomless. Their Carnitas are my very favorite along with the beef tacos! The Margaritas are to die for. One, and you're feeling pretty good. Two (my max at this place) and you're pretty much done. Three, you're on the ground, I guarantee it! I moved out of Palmdale almost 10 years ago and still come here every time I come home to visit! The Albondiga soup came w/ my meal- it was OK - too much celery. Growing up, I never had celery in my meatball soup...just the meat, a little tomato & onion... Perhaps a hard boiled egg or rice stuffed inside the meatball too... So a few points off for the celery....nevertheless, it had good flavor. I ordered a Cadillac - two words - THE BOMB!!!! Get it - you won't be disappointed!!! I also tasted the regular Margarita & it was good... Although my taste buds may have been inhibited by the Cady, I did see 5 other tables w/ more than 1 Maggie! Don't think you'll go wrong here! I ordered their taquitos con guac combo...the regular beans & rice on the side. They were meaty!!!!! The guac was fresh, green & no crazy amounts of tomatoes & onions as fillers...yes, it had some, but not enough to create a Christmas colored appetizer to dip my crunchy-on-the-outside, yet meaty-soft-on-the-inside taquitos!!! yum!!! The rice was fine & the beans-home made re-fried beans...not from a can BABY!!!! The ambiance was very cool...very diverse crowd, the music was traditional mariachi over the speakers...would be super-cool if they had live mariachi playing :) The booths are old-school looking-dark burgandy vinyl w/ large brass buttons throught the backs...the decor was traditional mexican-culture pictures...plants, etc....it felt comfy & welcoming. read more

This place is amazing. I have been coming here for at least 40 years. They have never disappointed me. The house margaritas are fantastic. The chili rellenos are amazing!! The Burrito Supreme which comes with choice of meat (chicken or beef) is huge and very delicious. They keep bringing the tortilla chips and salsa as long as you want. read more

Since my sis and her fiance are regulars, they are greeted with a smile and are. Was so excited to try this place since we just moved into the area..... looks like a hole in the wall (which I LOVE!) inside is very cool looking, loved it! We arrived later in the evening (8pm, and they stay open until 10) so maybe our waiter was just over it for the the Tuesday night. I guess they have a champagne night and buffet on Tuesdays. Waiter was eh. Food was definitely a 2 out of 5. Husband ordered the chicken chimichanga and found large chicken bones inside and it was also full of celery.... yuk. I will say the Hot salsa is super yum and the beans were pretty good. I had the chile relleno and taco.... it was ok..... nothing to brag about. The rice is full of celery, green beans, and carrots..... which I do not prefer. Margaritas were awesome although 2 of my ice cubes had a black substance on them. First time here chicken enchiladas with all beans. Omg the beans are so beeping good and so are the enchiladas. Strawberry margarita's are amazing. I will be going back I just text my mom a screen shot of the address so she can taste the amazing food. Salsa could have more heat to it triple thumbs up. I so wanted to order a pint of refried beans. This is a must go old school spot love the old fashion feel of the decor. Oh the food was nice and hot when served which is a plus. read more

So i must admit that im far from home and yearn to be in my wife arms but a great meal helps to cure the blues. So ill start with the albondigas soup with just the smallest kick of chili, this soup got to my sole and bought me back to my childhood, exceptionally good. I then had the #8 chili Releno and chicken taco. Whoa what a great meal and im stuffed. With 2 beers the cost us 25 bucks. Not bad! Ill be back and hope others give it a try. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was like.....5 or 10yrs old I think? My Dad brought me there. I started ordering cheese enchiladas w/rice & beans and have been ordering the same thing ever since ha ha and I'm now 32yrs old lol. I used to order Shirley Temples when I was younger, now it's usually margaritas of different flavors. The food is great the service is awesome. I come there w/my best friend, it's "our place" for him and I to get food and we even have our own waiter. LOVE EL TOREO WEST! This place has been here since the 1960's at least. My family and I love this place! The salsa is excellent. When the host brings salsa they always remember to bring me 2 hots and no mild. I love the soup! It's always the perfect soup when you're sick. Cold winter nights too! I usually order ala cart because I don't need all the rice and beans. The portions are excellent. When I first moved to Palmdale I ate here because of the location. Gradually I began to notice that the food would come out lukewarm, or the chips were served overcooked... just little things like that. The staff would be super friendly one time then non-existent the next. After my last visit, I decided to try other places instead and was happy my suffering was over. We just tried El Toreo for Tuesday night buffet - and it was excellent! While their normal menu is okay, the Tuesday buffet selections were awesome. The slams bar does not have much salad but the fruit selection and quality was excellent and tasty! The hot items, especially the ribs, were quite good. The service was adequate, don't expect drink refills unless you hunt down your waiter and the tortilla chips tasted like old oil/lard but the salsa was good. I had the Tacos Al Carbon, the meat was gray versus having broiled marks and lacked flavor. My uncle had the Carne Asada Steak lunch special and it looked ten times better than my tacos. He said it tasted great and he really enjoyed his meal except the service and the chips. I wish the quality of the food and service was as good as their Avenue L & 10th Street location. read more
