This place was recommended to us by some friends in the area. And omg. Their carne asada tacos were soo delicious. They say don't judge a book by its cover and this definitely surprised me. I have been coming here since the 70's. I came in for the 1st time in awhile because I didn't want to deal with no air conditioning. But THEY HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!! Total game changer. If you are new to Corona this is a MUST TRY. You can't eat here without having the Special Burrelleno and get it "wet" it's like a chile relleno in a burrito topped off like a enchilada. I don't eat here that often because this place ONLY does a decent job. Today was a sobering reminder of why I only come here once in a while. I went in, spent $18.00 for 2 albondiga soup, 2 street tacos and chips and felt ripped off. I was willing to overlook the fact that the soup was barely lukewarm the meatballs were cold. Then it got worse, I found 2 long brown hair in my soup. I hope the owners check these posts because they need a reality check. Breakfast burritos are fabulous. Hard shell ground beef tacos are yummy. They would have gotten 4 stars but they don't open until 9 am and they are a tad bit slow. So if your are in a hurry on your way to work this is not the place for you. I haven't tried any other items but I imagine it would be just as good as the burritos and tacos. read more

Been coming here for years through 3 or 4 owners. Although a relatively simple menu, they have all the primary traditional Mexican dishes; to include Albondigas and Menudo on the weekends. Frankly, and call me a typical gringo, but what I love most about this place is their salsa. Very thin, not chunky, but very flavorful and more spice factor than most. It's bomb!! I came to this place once before and thought the food was wonderful as well as the women who made the food however, When I arrived for the second time which was tonight a little after 6pm I placed my order and forgot to tell the man that rang my order no beans. I went back in and explained to him because I was on a keto diet I didn't want beans and I apologized for not mentioning no beans. He glared at me as though I killed a member of his family and so I went on to say that if there was a problem with replacing the order, then he should return my money since he had an issue. He yelled at me. Told me that what I did was unfair and told me to not return. I am pretty sure they throw away a lot more food at the end of the night than what my order was. Although my first experience at this place was great, my second experience was not. Due to the lack of professionalism when resolving issues that sometimes will happen...I will not ever waste my time nor money on a place where the customer is not wanted. I'm sure the food is good but there are way too many other Mexican food places that do not have a crappy attitude such as what I experienced with the man who took my order at this place....And there are way better Mexican food stops that out do this hole in the wall on any given day or night. He told me not to come back and believe me I will not be back. You can have good food but if you have no customer service skills and lack professionalism, you will lose good customers...Especially when they are told not to return. El torero is our absolute favorite 'hole in the wall' mexican food place. The food is authentic mexican, with the absolute BEST homemade, fresh spicy brown sauce in the world. Good luck getting the recipe out of them though, it's apparently a family secret. The quality is always consistent, even a bean, potato, rice and cheese burrito is huge and amazingly tasy & fresh every time. The place is tiny, but clean. Been coming here since 1999. It's Taco Tuesday! So it was a must to eat tacos! !!! I'm Still a little weak to go out so my hubby brought home our yummy grub to throw down at the house. They were having a special... 3 tacos for $5. AWESOME deal so we choose 2 chicken, 2 shredded beef, 2 groud beef. We slso had to have their yummy Chili Rellenos combo w / rice & beans. Soooo darn good! When you try their tacos you have to get the guacamole sauce! I put a layered of sour cream, guacamole, hot sause on a shredded chicken. ..yum. everything I've ever ordered from them, have always been delicious. i hate to be the first rather negative review but I really felt the food was meh. Ive definitely had better tacos as the ones here were served on a rather dry tortilla with fatty cuts of carne asada. I mean c'mon...its lean flank cuts. I followed everyone's recommendation and ordered the Burelleno which was decent. Im a big fan of authentic chile rellenos and the one found inside the burrito was decent. Dont get me wrong, it was a good sized burrito and reasonably priced but i would have rather paid a few extra bucks for some quality cheese as opposed the nacho cheese that had filled it with. Overall, I probably wont be coming here again as its kinda on the opposite side of Corona from me. i was really excited to try a new place as ive visited many mexican restaurants in Corona. But with places like Tudy's Taqueria serving a mean torta and burritos, or El Tapatio Market serving a good variety of delicious mexican food (and i mean variety...go explore youll be pleasantly surprised) ill probably take my hunger there next time.
