I was at this location Saturday night at around 7:50pm walked in was greeted right away and was quoted a 15 min wait. 30 minutes later still wasn't sat. Walked in to ask how many more parties in front of mine. I was told 3 and they couldn't tell me how much longer but to come back in in 10 minutes and check. About 7 parties were then sat at this point I've been waiting 50 minutes. I walk back in and ask how much longer again the host says there are 3 parties ahead of you. I now ask wait you said that already and you've sat about 7. She says well if you want to be sat now. You can sit outside or else you have to wait for the 3 parties ahead of you. I agree sit outside. She says ok go choose a table I'll meet you out there. When a server standing at the terminal says to the host in Spanish in not a very kind manner there aren't any tables outside. I look at them because I speak Spanish and say ok then cancel it. Thank you very much. We will just leave. Thank you very much for the service. And walked out. Ridiculous way of treating customers! Quoted 15 minutes waited 50 and still get given an attitude when I go ask how much longer? Northridge always has terrible customer service so I'm not surprised. I tried to give it another chance but unfortunately I've now learned my lesson. read more

5 stars for service in the bar area. Cruz was our sever and he was extremely attentive. He saw that we had been waiting and he jumped right in even though our table was not assigned to him. This was our first time going to this location and it's very close to home so we were really excited to check it out. We called ahead of time to ask the wait time for brunch and they said the wait was 20 mins but got there 10 mins later and the wait was 60 - 90 mins! Waited 90 mins and still didn't have a table even though we saw a few empty tables. Meanwhile, during the wait there were people getting there and getting a table faster than us who were waiting and they tell us they had a reservation. It would have been nice to know they were taking reservations when we spoke to the them on the initial call but that was not even offered as an option! Very frustrating. read more

Service was atrocious. The appetizer flaitas were delicious and so was the watermelon margarita. Server never came back check on us. Made our guacamole and then the hosted brought the food. Had to ask her for more water. Finally dug into my food and bones in my fish tacos. I had to call her attention as she took the table next to us order and was not going to see how we were doing. Told her about the bones and she looked at me as if to say what did I want her to do about it. Just asked her to take the plate and for the check. Came in for lunch and got a bit of steel wool in my salsa that got caught in my teeth. I told the server so he got me a new salsa, but did not tell the manager. When I mentioned to the manager he just shrugged. Be careful you could be eating steel wool pads. read more

So sad, we have been coming to this El Torito for more than 17 years now. We come to this location at least 2 times a month, sometimes 3. We have watched El Torito Management try many different approaches to bring in business over the years. Sadly the latest gamble by this location's Management was to let most of the experienced staff go and replace them with new staff. Over the last 6 to 8 months or so, we are almost consistently ignored each time we come in and are served the now very inconsistent food from the kitchen by wait staff that are running around the restaurant from room to room. Staff running from area to area makes customers wait for the staff not the other way around. You see the word Waiter means just that; they are to Wait on tables with customers at the tables. Unfortunately El Torito Nortridge appears to not understand what a Waiter is or value their staff who make the customer experience a good one. read more

Been coming to this location since my childhood in the 90's...a few months ago we had a minor birthday issue when celebrating my mothers birthday when addressed to the manager..Luis Romero made things right...it's managers like him that know how to run a business and put the customer first! This is an updated review from my past review of this restaurant. It's really a shame that I must write this updated review. Pre-Covid my wife and I loved to come here for brunch. They have updated the décor done an excellent job at that. We were looking forward to Sunday brunch last week and where underwhelmed by what we had. At this point in the Covid service, many restaurants have gone back to self-serve buffets, but not El Torito. The restaurant is way understaffed and although our waitstaff did his best to touch the tables and make sure we were taken care of; you could see that the waitstaff were well overtaxed and understaffed. Same for the individuals at the buffet stations. Numerous previous options are no longer available. Those that were served were warm at best and not hot. Although many of the dishes were seasoned well, everything just seemed a bit off. Salsa and chips, gone. Buffets refiled with new food in front of the customer as opposed to being married in the kitchen and then distributed on the line. Very unprofessional. Guests lined up with one individual taking care of the station where two should have been working in tandem to move the lines more smoothly. A seafood ceviche that tasted like a cocktail sauce that was mainly ketchup with surimi imitation seafood with a few actual shrimp. A desert station with one burner to cook where two should have been available to cut down on the long wait times. Here a mirrored service would have been a better setup. Although the have kept their cost for the buffet on par with what it had been before the shutdown, the food and service have declined. Is it still worth $29.99? Nope. Maybe when they get their act together, we will look forward to returning, but for now, no. read more
