SLOOOOOOOOW SERVICE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT at the bar!!!! Was there Saturday night with friends for drinks...took 20 minutes for someone to come over to hand us menus along with chips and salsa. I was flagging people down to get at least a cup of water...was ignored. Finally put our drink orders in and waited another 5-10 minutes. Mind you, we were sitting at a booth by the bar. Witnessed the bartender doing nuthin!!! wtf? Not sure if our drink orders were even put in. Waste of time. got up and left. No one noticed. I came here and took a friend for a late lunch we got seated pretty quickly but our service was really slow she bring one soft drink at a time chips out and then the salsa food was ice cold and tasted very very old we had the steak and shrimp fajitas and the shrimp where horrifying not to mention the restaurant itself was very very filthy there was a hair on the table I would not recommend this El Torito's location to anyone. Food was awful, asked for the carne Asada and shrimp plate. The shrimp was over cooked and tasted like they were old. The Asada was nothing but fat and no flavor. The beans looked really gross like they have been stewing all week they were flavorless. The drinks were so watered down couldn't taste a drop of alcohol. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas and the meat was just microwaved. For being empty on a holiday I would expect that the food would be a lot fresher. The service staff was not very helpful either. This was my first time eating at an El Torito and it definitely did not disappoint! We ordered the table side guacamole which was fantastic and fresh, and then our entire table really enjoyed our entrees. The best part was our server, Fabio! Ever since covid, my neighbor and I starting frequenting El Torito because we live in the neighborhood. Everyone on the staff is so accommodating. Tonight was our 5th visit. We have had this most amazing server at least 3 times. Her name is Maria. I have a food allergy and she has been so careful that I do not have my food cross contaminated. She brings extra napkins without having to ask. She constantly checks on us to make we are enjoying ourselves. Nothing is a problem. She has the most positive and happy attitude. It's really nice to come here and eat and have people remember you and treat you like family. Everyone is very careful to observe rules for covid. You can eat here with confidence. Menus are sterilized between each guest. Tables are sanitized. Im very impressed. This is why we continue to come back every week. It's an extra bonus if we are seated at Maria's table. Growing up we used to love this place. It was alive, hip, the food was good and the atmosphere was great. The last decade there's been a progressive slide to what seems to be a slow death. The quality of food has collapsed. I was in for lunch a few weeks ago and the pork was disgusting. I know this after eating Poquito Mas shredded pork the day before and Wood Ranch two days prior. You wouldn't believe they'd serve it to anyone, literally all fat and no tender meat. Yuck. While it's salty, I don't mind the soup. I think the tortilla soup is pretty good still as are the chips and salsa they bring to the table when you order drinks (which the tropical ice tea is still good!). Otherwise, the carne asada was rough and chewy and the last time I ordered the fajitas (half beef and chicken) they were poor, at best. I can tell you one thing - the service here has deteriorated as has the quality. The food no longer looks like it does on the menu. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. Not only is it delicious, but it's one of my favorites! My favorite thing they serve here is the yummy, soft corn bread. Ask for extra, extra cornbread because they don't give you enough with your meal! Also, another one of my favorites is the caesar salad. It's really good and has some delicious celantro sauce. It IS however, a bit pricey, and the food is delicious. The waiters are all pretty kind, but the waitresses, well, aren't too kind. But of course they all just want tips so they have to be kind. Outstanding! After having a horrible experience at the Woodland Hills location, the managers at El Torito Northridge asked us to give them a chance. I am so glad we did! This Sunday brunch was like night and day. The food was fresh (even just before the end of the brunch), the place was clean and inviting and the service was exceptional!
