I know all El Toritos are supposed to be the same, but this one is CONSISTENTLY better than any other. Even during this lockdown, the food is as good or better than its ever been. They are practicing all safety measures--my wife and feel extremely safe when we are here. The outdoor seating is awesome--and I kinda hope it continues. The manager Alex, is unbelievably attentive to the guests, constantly moving from table to table. And our favorite bartender/waitress Diana is the reason we come here on Tuesdays! Places a pickup order and they said my food would be ready by 4:35. Waited in my car and went to counter to pick up and the woman working was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge I was standing there for a few minutes. After she finally put the customer on hold, she went to go search for the food and they said it's still being packaged (4:45). So I waited and she went back and brought me the food at 4:55. 4 entrees, a soup and salad were brought out in one bag. I didn't have anymore time so I headed back home. The soup was placed on the top and fell over in my car. Thankfully, it didn't spill too much but when I picked it up, there was maybe half a cup of 8 dollar soup. Also, when I got home, they placed the salad dressings on the bottom of the bottom and the force of food and driving spilled them all. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because the rest of the food was pretty good. If you want bad customer service and horrible packaging, at least their food is good. read more

We went here to celebrate our friends 25th wedding anniversary. There were about 25 of us and we made reservations well in advance. This was my 1st time here and it was really nice as we came in the door and I do enjoy Mexican food. Our server was named Antonio and seemed to have trouble with my order. I asked for 3 tacos of carnitas only and confirmed they came with salsa and jack cheese. He said they came with rice and beans but I politely declined, tacos only. He brought my order 5 minutes later but it was completely wrong. The 3 tacos had tomato slices on them, NOT salsa, and some kind of smelly goat cheese, NOT jack cheese. He did leave off the rice and beans however, he added some yellow things that looked like 6 huts on my plate. I called Antonio over and explained the situation and to please bring my order as I requested it. He brought a tray out with many small plates that had items for tacos, cold tortillas, lettuce, another plate with cheese, another plate the meat and a small bowl of salsa. He then said perhaps it would be better if I made them myself! Incredibly rude when I was so patient with him and even spoke to him in Spanish when he struggled to say something in English. I was so humiliated, we thanked our hosts and the couple that was celebrating and left promptly. We will not be returning to that restaurant ever again. read more

Hostess greated us with a smile and sat us down right away in the bar area. Took about 5 to 7 minutes to have a server come by and offer drinks. The cocktail and beer wine menu pages were very dirty and pages were stuck together with sticky substance. The sour cream and chicken enchiladas not that good. read more

Im not gonna lie - I hate chains but Chick-fil-A was packed and my coworker and I were pressed for time and needed something quick for lunch. That said, this experience at El Torito is not a bad one. Their food was pretty good and inexpensive with a decent choice of run of the mill Mexican food. As per usual sat at the bar, the bar-keep was a good guy but running the entire place my himself. Somehow, he still managed to be attentive, polite and very helpful on my visit. He was nice enough to let us know about a lunch buffet which had a spread of food (for $11.99) because my coworker was about to order the same taco plate priced for much more. He also managed to bring us chips, salsa and some waters as soon as we sat down - Immediate service. I asked him for hot sauce (hotter than offered) and he ran to the back and got some - it wasn't available to anyone... probably staff only salsa! definitely Serrano peppers, had a good little kick .... i cant believe he went through the trouble of getting some. I had the Sunday brunch today. It used to be reasonably priced but now It's a outrageously overpriced $27. We asked to order from the regular menu but were refused. Food was about the same as you would get at a fast food restaurant. Defiantly not worth the high price. Then on top of it all, the check is now some goofy electronic device that has a minimum tip preset to 18% lol. Yeah right like I'm giving an 18% tip for getting my own food! You have to press "Other" to put in a normal sized tip. All while they hover over you waiting. Funny, you can't get a waiter for love or money if you are out of drink, but oh boy they are right there when its time to get the tip. Wont be going back, ever. read more

The Happy Hour $4, $6 & $8 is crazy good & so worth the price. I had a delicious Michelada & equites with some lemon on it & my man enjoyed a "Call Drink" which was also decent. The service was great, our waitress was Samantha, she said she was new but took such good care of us. We had the Supreme Faijtas after and those were absolutely delicious as well. Usually I don't make it a point to write reviews. In my opinión bad service and bad food will fail regardless of how many reviews it gets. Please note, I have been at this Northridge location many times and at different times of the day and my experience has always been great not to mention the great flavor of the food. However, this time around from the greeter to Salvador my server to Melisa the manager on duty, the experience was SUPERB! Salvador super friendly improvising all I needed to have the best time of my life with my fiancé. He brought extra lemonade, super hot chillies. In all I Recomend this location highly. Thank you, Melisa, Salvador and El Torito... I do not understand the reason why this location has less than 4 stars. I visited this location on three other occasions and I got better service every single time. Today, June 10th, 2018. I stoped at a nearby ihop and Denny's.... well walked out and headed back to El Torito. We were told there was a 45 minute wait and... BAM... no more than 10 minutes and we were in. Juan our server was superb and I had the opportunity to meet Eliot the manager as well. Long story short I would recommend this location to anyone even if wait time is more than expected. Came back today but my experience was horrible. What a vast contrast from the first time. My first visit to this location, I was blown away by the food, value, and impeccable customer service. I sent all my friends to this location. Well, I regret that. I came back today for a quick dinner with my husband. I am signed up to their coupons and offers, and today they were offering 25% off. I asked my server, the manager, and a random busboy about the all you can eat tacos, since everyone was confused about what it comes with. Three people tell me three different things. One says rice is covered, second says it's not, third says it is. No one knew what the policy was. Not a big deal, just more frustrating. Our server, Miguel V, made me feel almost weird for having a coupon. No shame in my game. El Torito offers coupons, I will use them. Yet, he made me feel like I wasn't priority since I was using the coupon. He did kindly offer to refill our water at some points but never once checked in to see how we were doing, refill our chips, or just see if maybe we wanted to order something else. The all-you-can eat tacos are a ripoff. You can only order 3 at a time and there are no toppings. This isn't "tacos". It's tortilla with chicken/steak/veggies, NOTHING else. We only ordered 6 tacos between 2 people and waited about 15-20 mins between them. The dining area wasn't super busy. I was confused why something so simple took so long. The tacos were dry, bland, and embarrassing if you have ever had real tacos. The only person who ever checked in on us during the duration of the dinner was the person who cleans tables. He didn't speak English but provided better customer service than our waiter. Very disappointed. read more

El toritos was good today. I had carnasada and shrimp. It was pretty good but a little pricey but I enjoyed the food. I notice something about the manager today. It was a woman btw. She walked up to my table in asked me "how did you enjoy your food?" But she said in a way if she was forcing herself to say it then quickly walked away to another table. I felt a little disrespected but I ignored it. But when I was leaving out I seen her talking to one of her employees by the entrance. I walked by them in said "have a nice day." The employee stopped talking in spoken back saying "Bye. Have a nice day." The manager didn't speak back in she was cursing about something to her employee. I thought that was rude but she could had been talking about something important. Who knows. It just she didn't speak back which had bothered me a bit. I'm real big on respect and being polite. I did not see that with the manager today. If she ever read this, this is for you. Work on your curtousy. Don't be rude. It doesn't matter if you black, white or Chinese always show respect and curtousy. Ok. Because not only I like to tell people about the food I also tell people about the people working and serving others. So, take this advice and use it and so you can be more professional. I love Sunday brunch and this is a great spot if your on a budget and still want mimosas (: it's 23.99 for adults for the brunch buffet that includes mimosas. They have an omelet bar, taco bar, regular breakfast like eggs, bacon as well as chile quileas (sorry don't think I'm spelling it right) enchiladas, soups pastries and much more! The servers are a little slow and hard to understand sometimes but other than that everything was great, fresh hot food was constantly brought out and everything was delicious read more

Our server Jasmin only came by once to check on us after 40 minutes, one of our group members whose birthday it was didn't get their food for an additional 20 minutes after us and all she ordered was a salad! We let the staff know that it was her birthday when we first got there and it looks like that made them give us worse service. We notified the manager of this issue and she had nothing to say about it, the apology she gave us felt completely half assed like she didn't care at all.
