Food is always good and tasty . But the last time I came to eat with my family , I felt discriminated because since I was in a hurry I paid in cash and left just for two people come chasing me down accusing me of not paying all the way ( Which once they ran up on me and counted the cash it was obviously all there , my total was $80 and I left $85.) I am not a dine and dasher I pay my bills . But maybe next time approach guests in a nicer way other than chasing them down it just looks wrong . read more

Used to enjoy having lunch in the bar here during the week. We went in yesterday (February 20, 2019). We passed the hostess and said we would like to sit in the bar. She guided us into the bar. It was FREEZING cold in there. We were the only customers. Every table was set with silverware, waiting for diners. No bartender. No one. We waited. And waited. I said to my husband maybe we should move to the dining room. No, the bartender has to be here. My husband got up and asked the hostess where the bartender was. Could we get menus? The hostess said the bartender is on break. At 12:00 on a Wednesday? After waiting for 15 minutes she told us we could move if we wanted. No, we just left and we will never go back there again. That place is dirty and the customer service is sub par. We ended up going to Rubios and enjoyed some tacos and a super nice waitstaff. read more

The last time I was at this location was 2016, so I thought to give it a try to see if anything has changed. Well the place looks beautiful, very clean but that is the only nice thing I can say about this place. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! I went there for lunch on Friday with my 2 daughters, it is the weekend of the Persian New Year so we were out shopping and having a good time so decided to have lunch at El Torito since we were in the area. We walked in, greeted very nicely, and seated. Then we waited, waited, and waited. Mind you this is Friday at 12:30, the place was empty. Then finally we are given chips and salsa, while we continue to wait.. after about 20 minutes later Hispanic man comes to our table, older grey and white hair and beard. Not friendly at all, takes our orders and leaves.. WE ORDERED SALADS, he never brought them out. so our first meal comes out, and it is cold so my daughter says mom the food is cold, so I get the manager to exchange the food. Then the other 2 foods come out. The waiter never came to the table again, until I had to get his attention to bring chips, which clearly annoyed him. we were never asked about the food, or if we needed anything else. At the end we paid and left.... shame on this El Torito, your service is terrible. read more

The customer service at this location is awful. We've never ate at this location before & won't be back. Just know if you make a reservation via Open Table that doesn't mean you have a reservation "they recommend you call to make sure they're even accepting reservations." I was a waitress for 7 years so I understand when issues arise & I'm extremely patient. On top of that we're in a pandemic. We wanted to support the businesses & employees so we decided to eat out. However, when you're treated poorly & ignored by multiple staff members on purpose it leaves a horrible stain on your memory. The host has such a negative attitude & our waitress must have been at the end of her shift because she never came back to give us our check. We found someone, who I believe was the manager, to help us check out. The other locations are so very different. read more

Our experience tonight at El Torito was wonderful. Our server Cruz was great. We asked which drink we should try he recommended a mango drink. It was amazing. Then we asked which appetizers were flavorful. We ordered the Salmon tacos AMAZING and the Flautas also delicious. We come often but have never given a review. Went for Thanksgiving Brunch with Family of 3, our server Miguel was very attentive, kept the Champagne flowing and was very prompt with whatever we asked for and always with a smile. They remodeled this location and it's Beautiful and clean only quirk I had was the food can improve a bit more, they took out alot of the regular variety but overall food servers and food was quite good and you get your money's worth. I just left El torito's Northridge, I'm sorry to say, it was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I had been in the restaurant business for 30 years. I have never complained upon visiting a restaurant about the service or their food, because I understand how's the business works, and at time things are not perfect. But this woman Diana who was the bartender treated me horribly. I had asked for a wine glass for my champagne instead of the flute, doing a Sunday brunch visit. I went to get food from the buffet upon returning to my table my champagne was gone and replaced by a flute. I motion her over to the table which wasn't easy because the whole time she's talking to these friends or family members and giggling and hugging them. When she came back I asked her my wine glass was she said this is the glass we serve it in. So I spoke to a manager he gave me a wine glass no big deal I don't expect it to be full I just like a wine glass better. When she came back to my table I handed her $5 and this is just the beginning I hadn't even eaten yet. I mentioned to her I'm not trying to cause a problem Here take a tip in the beginning and I'll tip you more at the end. She said in a nasty voice I'm just doing my job! Since she continued to ignore me not come to my table and just talk to her friends and very slowly walk around with no urgency to wait on people. I didn't want my whole day to be ruined so I had to resort to switching my table to another area in the restaurant. By the time I left the restaurant I was in tears. I have never written a bad review for a restaurant in my life complain about a individual server. This woman needs to learn proper etiquette of treating people. And the standard of doing her job includes taking care of the customer that's the top priority. Not too makes me feel so terrible that they have to move their because she's angry and just wants to spend time with her friends at the restaurant. My husband and I went for a happy hour, ordered enchiladas, there were two pieces of cardboard inside one of them, two!! We spoke to the bartender who was so nice and apologetic, but there is no excuse for something like that, it is unacceptable and disgusted. The bartender told the manager (Luis) who not ones apologized nor took responsibility for what has happened under his leadership, in fact, all what he said was that they were investigating the situation, putting in question what had happened. Chips and salsa were awesome! Our waitress came to refill for us. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos. It came with 3 tacos, rice, frijoles de la olla, and a scoop of sweet corn cake. The pork and tortillas were kind of burnt, so I didn't really enjoy some parts of it. I felt they needed more staff, especially at 4:30pm. Our waitress was "stretched thin". I am not a needy customer at all, but I was almost afraid to ask her for more water because she was all over the place. We gave her a big tip because we saw how hard she was working. read more

If I could rate this place ZERO STARS I would!!! The service and staff here is terrible. After waiting 2 hours to get your food, it comes to the table COLD. The waiter still had the audacity to say "Well do you want to eat or not?" when we asked what was going on with our food. He never came to our table to check if we need anything, we never got any refills, and he only brought napkins to our table AFTER we were done eating. The food is mediocre, the staff is rude and has an attitude, and management isn't any different from their staff. Music also played a bit part to our great time. We look forward to returning on a weekly basis. Also forgot to mention how the managers don't mind getting thier hand dirty.
