El Torito was one of my favorite places until last night. I attended a Paint Nite event and specifically choose El Torito as my location because they have amazing food and drinks but last night was different. During the event, I ordered a guacamole as an appetizer and received something completely different. I got the smallest cup not even a bowl of guacamole which was filled with lettuce and cabbage. The guacamole is usually served in a molcajete and doesn't have lettuce or cabbage in it. Now I was not expecting my guacamole to be served in a regular molcajete as this was a paint nite event but I was expecting to be served the same quantity and quality which is not what I received. Moreover, our server was rude. I understand that they only assigned one server for the whole event but it doesn't give her the right to be rude to her customers. 2 stars because the Margarita drink was actually good. read more

El Torito's margarita's especially the house margaritas are very disappointing. For the price that you pay which is $7.99 isn't worth it. I've gone to other restaurants and their margaritas had a better kick. Next time I'm sticking to either a soda or ice tea. Nothing is worse than paying for a virgin margarita at a regular price. read more

Oh my god! My mom took forever at Ross and we were starving!!! El Torito was right there so it was a no brainer... me hungry... El Torito food... done! We got there 15 minutes before closing (9:45p), unintentional of course and our server, Ashley (603), was sssooooooo gracious. If roles were reversed I would have handed us a "To-go" menu. But, no, she was incredible and I really appreciated her wonderful attitude, my mom loved her, we all did, it was hard not to, she was great. Thank you Ashley!!! You deserve a raise!!! read more

Just finished an excellent lunch at El Torito! Wandered in after doing some shopping and am so glad I did. The atmosphere was great, lots of character and charm. Cozy! Our server was Rebecca. She greeted us promptly and was very attentive throughout service. She made some excellent suggestions that made our tummies happy! The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp to start. They were extremely tasty! Then came the fajitas, one shrimp and one mixed. Both were excellent. Servings were generous. We skipped desert but will be back to try. All in all it was a great experience! Definitely recommend this place. Yum! read more

So on this past Tuesday my cousin and I decide to drop I. For taco Tuesday. After seating ourselves in the bar area we were eventually greeted my a waitress named crystal. Crystal was very slow with her service but we gave her the benefit of the doubt (even tho this day was not crowded). We ask for water she walks up and spills the water all over the table right into my cousin phone and lap mean while she has a smirk on her face. Moving forward service continued to be slow. Once we were done eating we asked for a bag. Crystal told us that they had ran out of bags and had to go and get some From the other side. I counted crystal walk past our table 11 times back and forth mad 45 minutes elapsing before I requested to speak with the manager. So out some this guy by the name of Ralphie He greets us very politely with a smile and once I said we were unhappy with the service and offered for him to sit with us he did and listen to everything I said. He wasn't one of those defend everything my employee has done type mangers. He was so willing to help in any way to assure we were take care of. This is how a business should be ran with managers like him. Speaking to some other patrons that we knew there they too agreed that he was very very kind. So hats off to Ralphie!!! Lousy service and we never got our food. On 02/16/18 We went as a group of 5 for a work lunch. We were seated at 12:05pm. The waitres Maria took our simple orders. Then we noticed groups of 2 around us were getting their food, but not us. We got up at 12:40pm and spoke to a manager as to WTH is going on with our orders. The manager replied they were having problems in the kitchen and our orders were not ready and sorry about that lol. We told him a few word's of how the place was not busy at all, that the waitress never came by to give us updates on our orders etc and that this was not ok and we were leaving upset and very disappointed. had dinner at et for steak and shrimp fajitas. the food came out promptly but it really tasted bland and flavorless. i was also expecting some veges to wrap in my fajita but the dish just consisted of a bunch of long onions, no bell pepper or other greens in it tonight, like their posted photos. the steak was really overcooked, practically burnt around the edges, as well as most of the onions, and we really couldnt eat most of it. the shrimp however tasted good. the server was okay, but definitely not great.. he never smiled or was courteous. when he took our order, he was a bit short, in a rushful way, and forgot to ask what we'd like to drink. so while waiting, i tried to wave him for beverages but he made obvious attempt not to make eye contact each time, so he could be on his way to other tables. after dinner, we wanted dessert but he brought our check too fast, and i didnt want to bother him anymore since he made it obvious he was busy. the fajitas were usually great in past, as i could recall, but it was sad and tasteless tonight. hopefully it was just a one time thing and wont happen consistently. read more

Sunday Brunch last weekend was yummy! The variety of foods offered was great. From traditional breakfast with a Mexican twist to lunch and dinner dishes were quite tasty. The chilaquiles were delicious and one of my favorites that fulfilled my cravings well, and reminded me of my childhood. They also offered a variety of drinks and desserts that would satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. I especially loved my hot cup of coffee with my Bananas Foster. My husband and I have been dining here for the last 10 years. We generally sit at the bar to watch a game, have great margaritas and great food. What we come back for is the amazing service we receive in addition to the food. Greg and Gilberto are great team players and took care of us simultaneously and effortlessly on Sunday. We never have to wait long for anything we ask for. These two appear engaged in the company and represent them well. They are always positive, always smiling, always ask if we need anything additional, quick to ask about additional beverages, and show appreciation for our patronage. Our orders are always correct and we have never had a problem. The restrooms are always clean and tidy. Management usually comes around and asks if everything is going well and seem to show a genuine interest in customer feedback. I have never had an issue in dining at this establishment. Please commend Greg and Gilberto on our behalf for their hard work, professionalism and great customer service on our behalf. We appreciate their great service. Thank you so much. read more

Went to El Torito last night to celebrate my sons birthday. We were a party of 5 adults and two kids... It took almost 20 minutes just to get our drink orders. We struggled in ordering because they have changed the menu and of course removed our favorite choices, so we all did a crap shoot (into some of our cases that can be take literally) and ordered. My husband ordered chicken fajitas which should be normal, I got a salad and flautas, the birthday boy ordered a burrito, we had two kids meals (which I will get into), along with a taco salad and a you pick two. My salad was great but flautas should be crispy and they def were not. My husbands chicken for fajitas were terribly dry and his veggies we literally BURNED on one side. It must have sat on the got skillet and in the window. The sauce on the burrito tasted like it was out of a can, and several of us tried it. My daughters cheese quesadilla was prob my fav thing. I have been in the hospitality industry for a very long time and what I have learned is mediocre service can be made up with EXCELLENT FOOD and ok food can be made up with top notch service. I have officially decided after DECADES of being a patron here that it's is time for is to part ways. You clearly no longer believe in good food (because you substitute it with food that is not good) and your service is subpar. read more

To all my Pasadena friends avoid El Torito on Foothill Blvd. Early dinner turned into a 2 inch cockroach climbing up my leg. When I stood up my daughter yelled "Dad there is a cockroach on your leg". Faster service and better food at a Del Taco. Really bad experience at this location. We had to bus our own table otherwise we would have had to wait 10 minutes to at least to sit down. No waiter staff seemed to care. Understaffed and under managed, this restaurant is sliding down the service toilet. We asked for a waiter and then waited almost an hour for our food order. Waiter didn't seem to care, got my drink order wrong. Drinks and cups only last so long. I complained to the manager who was full of empty apologies, but really didn't listen to me, yet after 10 minutes still no food. We walked out, complained again to the impotent manager who didn't even offer a free meal and decided this was our last visit to this establishment. read more

We came here for dinner a couple times and every single time, we were seated very quickly and received excellent service! Yesterday was Taco Tuesday and we weren't expecting such a large crowd! We were told we had to wait 25-30 minutes but the bar was open and could go for happy hour. I had no idea how amazing the deal was! $2.99/taco with unlimited complimentary sides! What a deal! There was also a DJ playing awesome music to liven up the mood and the place was crowded since it was National Tequila Day yesterday too. Our food came out really fast and our waitress was super sweet and her service was awesome! She recommended getting two tacos, which I got, and she refilled my iced tea multiple times and was super attentive. My boyfriend got the 3-item combo and loved the food! Yesterday night was really fun! The only downside is needing to speak a lot louder to each other, above/over the loud music. El Torito has definitely become our new favorite Mexican restaurant! My family goes to this restaurant at least 4-5 times a month, and we love it, the food is delicious. So, I would not really complain if the same mistake was not made over 4 times that I have been to this restaurant. We always order Pepe's Fajita and make sure that the waiter/waitress adds in 'EXTRA WELL-DONE!!' and they apparently write it down. Then, the food comes, and the meat is all pink in the inside. This hasn't happened once, twice or even three times..MORE THAN 4 TIMES. We went to the one near La Puente about two weeks ago, and we said extra well done, and it was EXTRA.WELL.DONE. It doesn't take an amazing chef to know what extra well-done means. So, anyway, we get the fajitas and complain to the waiter that it is pink. We wait over ten minutes for our food to come again, having to drool, looking at other folks' food. Is that professional? Knowing this is going to happen continuously, my family is considering not visiting this location anymore. Quite ridiculous. read more

I normally don't like el torito , but my friend really wanted to go . We get there and there is a long wait because apparently there was a fundraiser going on. We finally got seated at the back of the resteraunt . As soon as we sit down we notice how loud it was in there. There were kids running around like animals. They were screaming , bumping into our chairs, and bumping into sizzling plates. Where were the parents you ask? RIGHT THERE! Ignoring it all. The manager came in twice and didn't tell them anything , but he really can't . I was very upset and immediately ordered a margarita. My waiter came back and I made a joke saying " if these kids are still here when you get back make mine extra strong. He had a look of concern and left. He came back with two shots and I was so happy after that. I ordered the sizzling enchiladas and they were delicious! I've only ever been to the one located at Redondo Beach, so I had some expectations already. This is now one of my favorite places to go eat! They were busy and warned that it might take a while, but we were seated and served very quickly. The person who sat us was very friendly and our server made dinner fun. He was very friendly, quick and always had a smile. After walking out of La Nueva Posada down the street in disgust at the rude service, I went to El Torito and had a wonderful dinner of vegetable fajitas, with a chile relleno included - exactly what I was planning to order and for $2 less.
