We love El Trigo. They have great service. We order by phone and pick up. They have vegan options (I'm not sure I always believe that since how can we know f they use lard in the beans, etc). But they remember us when we call and never get our order wrong. I'm giving 4 stars because I thought I noticed they had a B grade at least at some point. I have lived in Riverside for over a year now and I feel that these are still the most authentic tacos one can procure in the Riverside Area. Tortillas are hand made and he El Pastor, Carne Asada and Lengua were were really tasty. The location is not in the best part of town, but that is fine with me. This is my literal go to place for Mexican food. I've been here for lunch and dinner and its always left me satisfied. Lunch specials they have here are great for those on a student budget or a little strapped for cash. I highly recommend getting the tacos, the burrito and torta off the lunch menu if you can. Food never fails to disappoint my friends and I whenever we come. I love the fresh chips and salsa they serve as an appetizer I guess. I have been coming here for over a year and tried majority of the menu, and I have rarely been disappointed. The whole fried tilapia is the business, and the chicken w/ mole is soooo tasty. Found this gem on the road back to LA county from apple picking. We wanted something affordable, tasty, and more authentic since it didnt seem like Riverside county had that great of food options. We turned on to the street this place is located on and it seemed a little shady. It was dark, dead, and honestly it looked like a bad part of town. We decided to stick it out and went inside. There was outdoor dining, but probably only enough for 2 parties. We went inside and ordered from a very nice lady. We went with mostly tacos including the ranchero, buche, birria, and cabeza. I was most interested in the birria as i had never tried that meat before. When i opened the piping hot tacos, they were all really good. The ranchero, i was not so hot on because i dont like beans in my tacos, but the buche, cabeza, and asada were all excellent. The birria was a beef, but almost in a stew form with juices from a pot that was stirring with flavor. I would definitely recommend it next time. We topped off the meal with a jamaica drink (hibiscus), which was really good but a tad sweet. Overall, i would highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Its one of the better options in Riverside and I would come back again if i was in the area. read more

I'm so glad that my wife and I finally made it to this place. We always seem to think about it at night, and since it's in a sketchy area, we never want to go. But, luckily she thought about it during the day, and so, away we went. We ordered a chile verde burrito and carne asada torta and split them both in half and shared. The chile verde burrito was phenomenal- the best we've had in a long time. While the carne asada was good, the rest of torta was nothing special. Both were great deals. Next time I go there I'd like to try a chile colorado or al pastor burrito. We also ordered a strawberry liquado, which was quite good, but not quite up to the standards of a fresa y crema from Tortas de Sinaloa in Moreno Valley. Also, if you're a chile-head like me, make sure to ask for some roasted jalapenos. They were fantastic. read more

It had some great tacos but not as bomb as the majestic brilliance that is the doritos locos taco. I would highly recommend this place to anyone if they cant get to greatness that is Taco Bell. Good authentic mexican food at great prices! Tacos are between 1.30 and $2 (depending on what you get), and we especially enjoyed the carne asada, chicken, and carnitas. I wasn't a huge fan of the fish taco my husband got--it was a bit too fishy for me, but the rest were very good. Also the tortillas themselves were amazing and tasted very fresh. My husband also got a tongue taco, but I was too scared to try it :) He reported that it was tasty. I got the fish ceviche tostada (instead of shrimp), which likely was my mistake. I think the shrimp would have been better. The fish was ok, but not amazing, although my husband liked it. I asked for a recommendation on drinks and was very pleased with the jamaica I was brought. I've never gotten it before but it was delicious and very refreshing. We will definitely be back soon to try more things! read more

I like this place! My friends and I come here often. We've ordered many different things on the menu and they custom anything to your liking. I love to order the seafood tostadas ...like this *jaiva y camaron (crab and shrimp) *sour cream *pepino (diced cucumbers) *no onion otherwise it comes with red onion ewwwwww *avocado, tapatio and limon! Thee best tostadas ever and to wash it all down a nice COLD CERVEZA!!! This stuff is so good. If you are really hungry then two tostadas and a beer comes to like $9 bucks plus tax and tip. You can order bottled beer and some type of canned beer mixed drinks like the bud margaritas and regular margaritas with no alcohol in them lol! The staff is friendly, the joint is very small, the restrooms are always clean... but it is always busy and there is always a place to sit. The area is kinda ghetto but it is still nice. They have various bags of candy and gum for sale by the cash register. They have a bunch of ice cream pops for sale up front as well yummy! Came here for the first time today. I ordered two carne asada tacos ($1.66 each) and two shrimp tacos ($3 each) with corn tortilla. As everyone is saying, their corn tortillas are fresh (made to order). As someone that's used to great Mexican food in San Diego, I really enjoyed the carne asada tacos. They were cooked a little more than I'm used to, but I enjoyed them because I'm used to fatty carne asada. I didn't like the shrimp tacos as much, because there was a lot in the tacos, but I realized I liked them more without any hot sauce. My roommate ordered shrimp with chipotle sauce but said it was pretty salty. All in all, pretty good customer service and an ample amount of parking. I parked in the street but I think they might have their own lot. They also give you chips and salsa to start. read more

Ive lived not even a block from El Trigo for about a year and a half and visited for the first time ever yesterday afternoon. And I wanted to cry. Because I have been MISSING OUT. This is a small place that you'd never hear about if not for a recommendation from a friend, or spotting it while walking past. Theres actually a good amount of space inside, it doesn't feel cramped when you sit down to eat. There are a ton of choices- standard mexican fare but one of my favorite parts was that they have many choices of meat that other mexican places near by don't offer. I has a torta with Birria and a carne asada taco, boyfriend had the same- but with Carnitas on his torta. The meat was tender and delicious and the torta itself was nicely put together although a little soggy from the beans. I still devoured it. The tacos were DELISHHHH perfectly seasoned and nice tortillas. The chips and salsa were A1 and I'm thinking of going by later just to take some home to snack on. Service was great! Very very sweet server and cashier. I wish we had known it was Cash tips only so that we could have left more than a $1 tip (so rude but we didn't have any other cash- we'll have to tip extra next time) Oh and the prices were right where they should be- not very pricy but not so cheap that you get suspicious of the quality (which was great, BTW) We loved it and we'll be back super soon! read more
