I ordered 4 tacos to go by calling over the phone. The service was standard and they spoke both English and Spanish. It took about 5 minutes for the tacos to be ready for pick up. The restaurant was petite and quiet. service was quick for pick up. They make their sauces in house but didn't have green sauce this time around. I tried the chorizo, chicharron and carne asada tacos. Carne asada was the best, chorizo didn't really have much flavor and chicharron was good. I first discovered this place by chance during an evening outing with my bestie and fell in love with the food! I decided to return with my dad and was delighted to find that everything still tasted amazing. They have updated the menu since my last visit, and currently, there are no prices listed. The lady at the front was very kind and patient as we took a moment to review the menu. I ended up ordering the sope asada, lengua tacos, and buche taco, while my stepdad chose the coctel camarón y pulpo and camarones empanizados.The asada was delicious, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly atop a large sope. Both tacos were also delicious; the handmade tortillas were warm and flavorful. The lady at the front was incredibly accommodating when I requested no onions. The camarones empanizados had a tasty batter and were served with warm tortillas. The only dish my dad wasn't fond of was the coctel camarón y pulpo, which was a bit bland and required a lot of Tapatio, lemons, and ketchup for flavor. What a difference time away makes! I remembered that I hadn't eaten here since just before the previous review and whatever happened or whatever led to the score no longer seems to apply, although (we now most of the time) ordered different items and kept it simple, it's clear that some improvements in the kitchen occurred. My wet burrito was filled with appropriate quantities each of freshly grilled carne asada, rice, and house beens that didn't feel heavy I also enjoyed the fresh salsa verde. The roasted tomatillos lent a twang to the mild seasoning. To kick it up I added the much spicier red salsa. Her carne asada tacos looked like any others at other places, however, the fresh, house-made corn tortillas are what sets El Trigo apart. Slightly thick and NOT prone to splitting down the middle, or necessitating a second tortilla to prevent that. I'm happy to return again, hopefully sooner than later. The beef tongue tacos here are divine, but I do have to agree with the other poster about how I was sad they didn't have any green sauce, that would've made the dish for me. Tried the lengua, al pastor, chicharon, chorizo, and fish tacos. All of them were so good with their housemade tortillas. The chicharon taco has crispy pieces of pork belly and fatty skin! Their consome birria was good for 3 people, flavorful with huge chunks of meat. They also give complementary chips and salsa. Its a a great local restaurant with kind staff. The food here is amazing to the point of being almost addictive. I've tried quite a few items here and the flavors really do dance on your tongue. My favorite is still the wet burrito with lengua, but I also recommend: menudo pozole (I believe this item isn't listed) birria en consommé and the birria combination plate Lengua ranchera The portions are large for the cost (I can barely finish the wet burrito and I have a large appetite) and many are made to order. The menudo here is awesome especially with their home made tortillas. The carne asada plate is also delicious. We call our order in on the weekends because they get super busy. There was a fire down the road and was getting ready to do a 3 point turn and there was the restaurant. I thought heck yes. I was craving lengua and to my surprise they had it on their menu. Nicely set up for a family style restaurant. Giant tv tuned to channel 5. Sipped my coke then the tacos , chips and salsa came. The chili in the little jar had my nose sniffing lol. Just the right amount of heat. The chips and salsa homemade of course. Put a little chili on one taco to test the heat lol. Good. Took a bite of the taco and it was soft and so delicious. Big tacos too not those mini ones out there. More chili more chips. Sip the. Oke and I was really enjoying myself. Just like Mom makes I had a little chit chat with the lady there and complimented her on how delicious the tacos. Asked if ok to take pics and she seemed pretty happy with it. I've been wanting to try this and finally went for breakfast. They have full service sit down tables. Our server was very nice and attentive. I ordered huevos rancheros and ice tea. Chips and salsa came out, very good, a little spicy. The ice tea was strong and fresh. Then the huevos rancheros came and there's not one suggestion for improvement I would make. Found El Trigo while driving through a map search of nearby "open now" restaurants. It looked authentic and has good reviews already so we decided to stop. It did not disappoint! If you're wondering where to stop, look no further. This is it. When we walked in the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. It's not too loud and everything is clean. We ordered from the counter and sat ourselves. The service came quickly, we got free freshly made chips and amazing salsa. If you judge Mexican restaurants by their chips and salsa like me, at this point you'll know you picked the right spot. The pambazo aka Bombazo was the best than other places I've visited in riverside. The tacos de cabeza were perfectly soft and the tortillas are handmade in house. We stopped by for breakfast after Mt Rubidoux workout, it was our first time and we will be back. The food is all freshly made and very authentic. So this used to be my go to spot for caldos (soups), I would usually phone in my order and either my wife or I picked it up without any issues through the years. We've also eaten there many times, the ambiance is ok (small) but gave them a 5 star review in the past. I was ordering less frequent through the years because the service and quality began going downhill for me sad to say. I really liked this place and kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, but after the recent and final order, we received really bad customer service and food quality. To this I say adios. From forgetting how to answer the phone like a business and just saying "hello", or getting hung up on multiple occasions to not having the order started upon pick up, having to wait double the time and missing items that were ordered. My wife being treated rudely and getting a bad vibe from the owner. To top it off the last caldos I ordered one chicken the other beef were like weird looking, I had never seen them this bad, tasteless, colorless, hardly any vegetables.
