Our server CARTER knocked it out of the park- with his style, humor, professionalism, patience!! He was spot on!! And we adored our tender octopus, fluffy crabcakes, and superb Greek lamb chops as appetizers.. Then we had huge Day Boat scallops w a terrific Thai green curry, tender prawns w tagliettelle, a double pork chops- and I save mine for last-- an incredible miso black cod on crispy rice cake w sautéed shiitakes, leeks, and crisp leek shavings.. Was blown away when we arrived for our dinner reservation on a Friday night and were promptly and warmly greeted by the hostess. This place had a good vibe, it was lovely and impressive! They had live music which was a nice surprise, it just set the tone for the rest of the evening. We sat at the bar before heading into dinner, had a couple of cocktails, attention to detail on the drinks and the presentation and taste were a home run! We had the Poke as an appetizer, bursting with flavor and fresh! Salad- the Cesar was chilled and well dressed. Loved it! Entrees- Rib Eye and Black Cod, we were blown away! Everything was presented well and perfectly seasoned and cooked to our request and liking- they nailed it! The other Steakhouse in town needs to take notes, as our experience here was night and day. We will return with a larger group now since our experience here was perfection! Staff is great, service was outstanding and the ambiance was clean, classy and inviting. Beautiful ambiance. Light wood with accents of black and brass. I love the dark blue chairs mixed with the olive green. Bar is high ceiling and well lit. Nice warm and attentive service. We ordered the hot rolls with truffle butter and flakey salt. It's a great appeteaser. Warm and salty and looks pretty too. Tried the octopus. The smaller pieces are chewy but the bigger piece was flakey and tender. I LOVED the sauces. It was mole, a creme fraiche/ sour cream dallop, and another of a green tomatillo verde sauce. That mixed together with the pickled red onions was so nice. Should've saved the hot rolls to dip. Nigiri was delicious. Unfortunately I had to share with the fam so I can't comment on the tuna or hamachi but the salmon was buttery and fresh. The rice was not that crispy though bc it sits on a soy ponzu sauce. Came out chewier than crispy. Steaks were nice. The ribeye has that marbleized fat. Cooking was a little uneven between rare and medium on our piece. Chimi needs more acid, I thought the truffle butter was going to be more of a sauce but it's a spoon of hard butter that would've melted on the steak but I asked for it on the side. The peppercorn sauce was the nicest and favorite for sure. The mashed potatoes and the scalloped were delicious. Creamy and well seasoned. BD and kiddo enjoyed the apple and pear crumble. It's a warm and rich dessert. Really nice and delicious. But I preferred the other dessert which is the butter cake. I liked that it could've just been soft and creamy but they added a crunch factor. I liked that it could've just been sweet and rich and one note but they added some tart a** blood oranges to cut it. Texture of the butter cake was lovely! Black truffle is not for me. I try it every few years hoping I would but I don't. I didn't like it on the roll, or in my butter. And I can eat some funky things but it's just not my jam and unfortunately I was reminded of that here. Drinks are creative- perfect martinis, smoked old fashioned where the smoke comes out of a bottle, and "kiss the bubble" (a vodka pineapple drink with a bubble on top) The Parker house rolls are a must! They come out hot covered in butter and black truffle shavings. The chicken and cornbread bite app is filling and spicy! Bread and butter pickles with crispy juicy chicken, sweet yet crispy cornbread in a spicy siracha sauce. For entrees the salmon is a healthy delish option in a flavorful salad. The. Brave heart filet is perfect served with perfectly grilled asparagus and mash potatoes. The scallop dish was a stand out- perfectly cooked scallops in a spicy green curry sauce with peas, carrots, potatoes, and a dusting of powder (not sure what it was) that put it over the top in flavor! They used to have this octopus dish that came with a delicious warm mole poblano sauce. I was hoping to reorder that, but they've updated the octopus dish for the worse. It's now served with cold potatoes and cold, undressed tomatoes, and the octopus itself is chewy and lackluster in flavor. Everything else I ate was absolutely delicious, and the service was amazing. Emilee-- Thank you for your response, but I would like to clarify what actually happened from my perspective. When my husband and I arrived for our Valentine's Day reservation, we were immediately told that there was no reservation under our name and that there was no availability for the evening. This was incredibly embarrassing, especially on such a busy holiday. We stepped outside to call the friend who had made the reservation for us, and only after she spoke directly with the hostess were we suddenly told that a "space just came up." At no point prior to that phone call were we offered any accommodation or solution. Being told publicly that we did not have a reservation and that nothing was available made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. By the time a pre-fixed menu option was mentioned, the experience had already left us feeling embarrassed and upset, and we chose not to stay. Our reservation was made over the phone with Ryan, who took down our name and confirmed the booking. However, when we arrived we were told that Ryan "doesn't typically book reservations." That explanation only added to the confusion and frustration. If someone does not handle reservations, they should not be promising to reserve tables -- especially on a special, high-demand night like Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is a special occasion, and unfortunately this experience made ours very disappointing. I simply want the facts to be accurately represented. read more

The place is nice, atmosphere great. We sat on the patio with heaters and blankets. Our server was really friendly and service was great. For the most part the food was very good. One thing I want to mention... And I hope the chef takes this into consideration. I ordered the pork and It was cooked perfectly. I loved all of it, but it was missing something. I was wanting a little sweet to compliment it. Something like a blueberry balsamic reduction or demi glace would have been perfect. I asked for even applesauce, but the chef didn't have anything. Drinks were excellent. The Eldo Old Fashioned was well-made but a bit light on the pour. My wife loved the Taylor Made, with Kiwi Do You Love Me close behind. Both appetizers--the crispy nigiri bites and fried chicken & cornbread bites--were great. For entrees, my wife's cod was good, but my steak was poorly cooked. The New York cut was thick and of decent quality, but the execution was terrible: minimal sear and a thick gray band on my medium-rare order. However, the scalloped potatoes were rich and delicious. The restaurant should consider better tempering or even reverse searing for a more even cook on thick steaks. Unfortunately, our final bill included a mysterious $26 charge that our otherwise good waiter struggled to explain. When I first received the check, the total was $200.57, but the final charge was $226.31--before adding a tip. The restaurant doesn't impose mandatory gratuity/service charge for parties of two, so I asked about the discrepancy. The waiter claimed that "two Modelos" from another table were mistakenly added and that the charge would fall off the next day. However, this explanation didn't add up: the beers weren't listed on my itemized bill, and at $10 each, even with tax, they wouldn't total nearly $26. It seemed suspicious. So, check your bill closely. If a manager sees this, I'd be happy to discuss it further. Overall, despite the shenanigans, we might return--but likely just for cocktails and appetizers at the bar, which is easily the most beautiful in EDH. read more

Unfortunately this restaurant really fell short of our expectations. We left extremely disappointed. It was beautiful inside and had a nice ambiance, but the service was very poor. The food was tasty, but extremely small portions. We had a reservation for the day after Valentine's Day at 6pm and arrived slightly early, only 10 minutes, so we sat at the bar until our table was ready. Unfortunately we were not seated until after 6:45pm. Our server was friendly and made sure to warn us of the small portions for the appetizers and encouraged us to order two of them if we were going to share. She took about 15 minutes to bring us our drinks, and each round of drinks after that also took a long time. My boyfriend asked for a side of aioli dip with his food once when we ordered, and when he saw they did not bring it out with the food he asked for it again--no one ever brought it to him. Once the food was dropped off, the server did not come back to check on us once to ask how it was. We had finished our meals and our drinks, including our waters, we sat waiting for the server to come check on us for a long while with our empty plates and glasses that were never cleared from the table. Sadly, I don't think we will be going back to give it a second chance. read more

Place is modern and chic. Food was flavorful and service was on-point. This place located where the old sienna was by Raleys has the same layout but with a nice upgrade. Guests were dressed to impress more like fine dining attire and everyone looked happy and seemed to be having a good time. Owner Angelo stopped by all the tables to introduce himself and to make sure that everything was going well. That was a nice touch! I honestly thought with it being open for only 1.5 days that we would have to wait for our food or get mediocre service but to our surprise we had the opposite experience. Chophouse is yet another big HIT for EDH! Great location in the building that had Sienna for years and MASQUE. Both standards that set the tone for the early EDH lifestyle boom of the 2000's. Made reservations for wife and I celebrating our anniversary. The hostess greeted us warmly with a "happy anniversary!" She also took us outside to take our picture which was really nice. She seated us at a cute table for two and we talked about her personal favorite dishes. Then our server came over and she was super cute and funny. Most of the servers were whether serving us or others. She offered us each a free glass of wine for our anniversary but we politely declined as we don't drink anymore. Menu looked good and had a good selection of solid dishes. We started out with the crab cakes and truffle fries. Mmmmm we scarfed down the yummy crab cakes and took our time savoring the fries, that had ACTUAL shaved truffles on top, not just a dip or sauce. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my wife ordered a fish dish. My scale is very high when it comes to steak because we eat a lot of steak at home and it's always top quality taste so we'll see what Eldo can do. As we waited for the food we enjoyed each others company in a classy decorated but not overly formal dining area. When the food arrived, we were impressed with what we saw. The filet was simple with a deme glaze with potatoes and asparagus. And the fish looked over the top like a piece of art. First bite of the filet and I was BLOWN AWAY. Taste that was easily in the top 10% best steak I've ever tasted. BRAVO. I immediately told my wife and she demanded a bite and totally agreed!!! My wife's fish was also a hit. The sauce was amazing and the texture was perfect. After enjoying our meal, we got desert. I can't remember what it was called but it was a recipe that the owner got from a restaurant in another country where he was dining as the story goes. AMAZING taste. There was only one downside. It was a football nite and they had it on the TV's at the bar as they should. But the football game was also played on the speakers in the dining area. I would have much rathered some soft music. Found this place while driving back from doing a hike. The place looked very fancy but since there's a bar we decided to give it a try although we were underdressed. We sat at the bar and were taken care of just perfectly. My husband likes beer on draft and we were told that's on the way to be available soon so we settled for a few cocktails. We ordered three appetizers and split an entree. The kitchen also split our appetizers so the presentation was great. The design and ambiance of the place is elegant and refined. The second time we rented the private room for eight and glad we did as the main room was full and very noisy on a Friday. Prices are fair and the wine list has a nice selection with very reasonable prices, which is very much appreciated. The ambience at the chophouse is absolutely divine. They have the most beautiful outdoor seating that you wouldn't even know was there unless you visited. All of their drinks are reasonably priced and their signature cocktails are phenomenal. The peach sangria is so refreshing and the espresso martini is so light and tasty. I personally love sitting at the bar. I've been in a few times for a nightcap and I've always had a wonderful experience. Our bartender yesterday was Emily and she was absolutely amazing! I wanted to try a different restaurant. Turned out to be a "never go back" place. 1. Beer is listed on the menu. But is from a "can" or "bottle" and poured into a glass. Seriously? Not a single beer on tap. 2. Typically if a restaurant decides to remove a vegetarian option/dish, they substitute with another entree. But not here. Not a single vegetarian entree. And usually good restaurants can make something up if a guest requires a vegetarian option. Also would be nice to update their online menu to reflect what is current. A week or two is plenty of time to update a website. 3. Ambiance was good. That is a plus. Seating comfortable and wait staff very good. 4. "Starters" was good. Impressed that they make their own in house pasta, Papparadella and Tagliatelle. The chef tries to recreate traditional Italian dishes with his pastas like placing Papparadella on top of Chicken Parmesan then tops it with the sauce. It's extremely heavy heavy heavy and loses flavor in translation. My take? Stick with the traditional. Chicken Parmesan has been a generational favorite for many years. Papparadella with a delicious gravy (sauce) also. The Octopus appetizer is small but quite nice. I know we are in California now but, I wish these restaurants expanded their wine palate to include international wines on their wine list. read more

Our first visit was for a dinner for three that worked out very well. The place is beautiful and can be reached in about 30 minutes from our home near the Sacramento River. Staff was very friendly from the hostess to the waiter staff and the owner who stopped by for a few minutes. The menu was extensive and our choices were all excellent as were our drinks. Service was on a par with Hawks, food was very good, service was excellent (Kerry) and the prices for a fine dining restaurant were very fair. The restaurant charges no corkage fee and the wine list strives to be no more than retail......pretty much unheard of. As others have noted it is loud with the hard surfaces of a modern design, especially when there's a clown show behind you all competing for loudest braying jackass in EDH. A four way tie. The bar and restaurant were crowded so drinks and wine took a while to arrive, but that wasn't the waiters fault and she kept us updated. The new card room, while adjacent, has a separate entrance and you don't even know it's there when you're in the restaurant (whoever thought that fit the demographic is....). Parking is a little dicey so you might have to walk a ways during busy times. Overall a good experience, we'll be back. read more

This restaurant recently opened so we decided to give it a try for NYE. We ordered the brioche rolls, crispy sushi bites, caesar salad, 20 oz bone in ribeye, truffle pomme frites and the butter cake. Everything from start to finish was delicious and perfectly cooked, including the steak. The appetizers were top notch, especially the crispy sushi bites. I was surprised at how good they were and the fish was a very nice quality. The Caesar salad was also very good and they split it in half for us (free of charge i believe). As to the main dishes, we split the ribeye and it was perfectly cooked as ordered and was very tasty, especially with the truffle butter. As a side, we got the truffle pomme frites, also very good. One thing I'll mention, don't leave without trying the butter cake. We were stuffed, but it sounded so good and it definitely didn't disappoint. It is one of the better desserts I've had at any restaurant in a long time. All in all, the restaurant looks great and the food is really good and what you'd expect from a nice steak house. 4.5 stars Eldo is tucked to the side of the Raley's shopping center and I was pleasantly surprised at how once you step in, you'd never know you were in the middle of suburbia. The elevated decor was a wonderful addition to our Valentine's weekend but I will say the tables for two are on the small side. Ya girl likes to EAT and we had to juggle plates. Reservations are available on Open Table, but it wasn't busy when we came in for dinner. Service was fine and timely.
