Eddie is honestly the biggest scam artist I've come across as a homeowner. He quoted me an amount before a job to do electrical work in multiple rooms, outside, and in my garage. To this day my wife and I are not sure what he actually did. And unfortunately, I was injured at the time he did the work so it was difficult for me to check what he was doing - which in hindsight I think he took advantage of. He told us the light bulbs he was putting on the ceiling fixture above the basement stairs (nearly impossible for us to replace ourselves) would last 10 years. They're already out!!! He was supposed to remove an ugly fixture in my office and replace it with a new one. He replaced the bulbs only!!! He was supposed to put up new fixtures in my garage and fix a couple of the other fixtures. He replaced bulbs in one fixture only and never put up new ones!!! To this day we have no idea what he did in the garage. He was supposed to put in a certain type of split heating cooling system designed for the square footage of my garage. When I checked the part of the one he put in, it wasn't even strong enough to cover the square footage of the garage and does nothing!!! To add insult to injury my wife caught him lingering about our yard AFTER HE WAS DONE AND LEFT! Very strange. So did he charge me less after all this. Nope. Same price. Eddie was absolutely amazing and was extremely professional. We called him to help investigate why a microwave got burnt out & was smoking. He quickly returned my call and was onsite within an hour. He determined that the microwave was not installed properly, needed to have its own dedicated breaker, and was not grounded properly. As he worked to address the issue, he uncovered several other issues with the electrical setup for the kitchen. For each issue he showed it to me, explained why it was unsafe, and presented a several options on how to proceed. While making the repairs, he discovered several electrical boxes hidden behind drywall & tile, which he needed to gain access to in order to complete the repairs. Before he made each cut he gained my approval and every spot he opened up he gained access to hidden boxes. He did not make any unnecessary cuts in the wall! Overall, Eddie was truly amazing and I would work with him again if I ever needed anything. I really appreciated how he showed and explained everything he found, as well as laying out the multiple remediation plans. I came across Electric City and they had very good reviews so I decided to call them. The electrician who showed up turned out to be the owner. He was very friendly from the start. I explained to him the situation and he immediately got to troubleshooting. He was able to determine the situation right away and explained to me everything he was seeing. He was very honest in determining what needed to be replaced and what can stay. He even mentioned that it would be best to replace the entire box and all of its components but he would save me the money and get everything to be in excellent condition again. update: still recommend, but knocking off a star for two things. Noticed broken old outdoor light fixture still attached. Hope to have that cared for and had new jobs, but I waited for them to have time for me and never heard back... :( ---- AWE.SOME. I've had Eddie come out twice now, and both times he went above and beyond. Work he's done for me: 1 - Replaced outdoor lighting fixtures on a low-voltage system. Ensured current set up was safe, fixed shoddy work left by previous owners (like unsealed wire ends), and it looks BEAUTIFUL! He also made a concerted effort not to damage my plants after I hopped around him frantically as he started working. 2 - Replaced normal outlets with GFCIs where they should be. Eddie stands out in that he's clearly safety conscious and concerned about my family's safety. Not in a fake way where he could have installed GFCI's everywhere, and in fact talked me out of some that I thought I needed. Tested existing GFCIs. 3 - Replaced indoor lighting fixtures with new. I'm pretty sure he got zapped while replacing one -- previous DIY owner did nothing to code, I've seen the dangling live wires and wrong colored wires in previous projects -- but he soldiered on, and everything looks GREAT! (Previous "handyman" made a muckery of simple light fixture replacement, but I had to remove the review due to threatening message from the business owner) 4 - Installed new remote receptors in ceiling fan. Because I know how safety-conscious Eddie is, I tell my son he now has the safest ceiling fan in the entire house, because while Eddie had the fan down I know he made sure wiring was done right. 5 - This one's huge for me, and why I called him back for more work. The grounding prong for the electric starter broke off my new Toro snowblower (wth?). Of course I no longer had the receipt, so Toro wouldn't help and the repair places I called said I'd need to replace the starter at a cost close to a new snowblower. My dad's an electrical expert but not as able to do the work he once did, so we knew someone should be able to simply replace the prong! Eddie was the first who agreed to take a look and see if he could do this. He could have oversold me any which way, but charged me almost nothing to replace the prong, and followed up with excellent advice to maximize its durability. Advised buying a very short extension cord, plug into the new prong, wrap it around the snowblower handle, and plug in via that when using electric starter, to minimize impact to the new prong. Brilliant! 6 - I asked for estimate to install a WIRED doorbell, as I've had nothing but problems with wireless doorbells at my last two houses. Here again, he could have made some money, and gave me an estimate, but recommended I at least try a specific brand/model of wireless. I did, and lo and behold it works...consistently...with awesome features such as ability to mute if I'm a work call at home. He did more, but I'm running out of time and characters. Bottom line is that I feel Eddie is extremely conscientious about his work, takes pride in it, truly seems to care about electrical safety (but doesn't use that as a money-making ploy), is honest, and very affordable and fair in his pricing. That said, I haven't met others that work for the company, and in the past I've been disappointed when an otherwise great company sends out someone who does poor work. But I do feel Eddie would stand by work done by anyone else in his company. read more

Electra-City had, by far, the best prices of any of the electricians that we discussed our kitchen remodel with. The work is all quite good and Eddie is very precise in what he does. However, be aware that he will require some extra management on your part. Setting work dates will be up to you, and probably require a follow-up to confirm. Eddie wants to get it right, but that means that work proceeds probably a lot more slowly that you'll expect. All that said, Eddie knows his stuff. Out of the multiple quotes I got from various electricians, Eddie was the only one who actually recommended getting fewer number of lights per room than what the other guys told me. I called Electra City for a light fixture to be installed in my office where there was no current electrical box. They would need to climb in the attic to access and install the electrical wiring. He gave me a quote much less than another competitor. The quotes ranged from $600,$300 and $100. Can you believe? Eddie and Jimmy came out within 2 days and installed my light fixture and they did a great job. Very skilled, professional, friendly and conscience of keeping my home clean and preventing damage. Electra City charged me $140 which included materials. The company that was going to charge me $600 said that included patching and painting after installing the light fixture. They wouldn't be able to get to my job until after Christmas. Eddie and Jimmy came out in 2 days did not need to patch or paint anything.
