I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers that the wait staff is punctual and basically attentive..... However..... Coffee was cold, and tasted like yesterday. My son wanted a Waffle. We got it. Late. Cold. And with a last night cracker wrapper under it. Location does not make a quality product. We are local and will not be back. End of review. No quality control. Cute, quaint and clean. Very retro but kept up. Went for breakfast at 11:30am so missed the specials that ended at 11 . It was a limited but lovely menu with all the basics at a decent price. Seemed family run as a teen sat us, another got our drinks then waitress that had been there for years took order. A gentleman came by and asked us how it was then an elderly man clean up as we left. I've been by Elena's in PG many times -- mostly on Saturday mornings before the Acme bicycle ride, but never tried it. I finally made it in there for breakfast today. OUTSTANDING!!! Food was great, coffee was great, prices are great, and the service was great! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It had the feel of a NY/NJ diner. I had a bacon and cheese omelet with toast and hash browns. Coffee included, cost was $7.50 (plus tax). The omelet was cooked beautifully -- not overdone and rubbery. Portion sizes were perfect! I was reading on my Kindle and was just getting ready to leave, so that I could free up the table. My waitress said, "We don't want you to feel rushed to give up your table. Have another cup of coffee." So I did. And left a 40% tip because I enjoyed myself, the food and the service so much! Elena's, I'll be back!!! read more

Elena's is a staple lunch diner in Punta Gorda. While they haven't always been at this location, they have been in the area for quite some time. When I am in town, I will come for breakfast or meet my mother for lunch while she is on lunch break. Normally I will get one of the two items: Gyro with onion rings Omelet They are both decent dishes to eat and I am never disappointed with the taste of the food in relation to the price. I would recommend Elena's for those looking for a low-key lunch spot. On a side note, while they do serve breakfast while open, they don't serve biscuits and gravy or poached eggs after 11am. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant approx. 4 times since I've moved here 9 mos ago. I've given them several chances, mostly because there arent many sit down diners in PG. Tonight was the last straw for me. I ordered carryout, which included 2 "gyro" platters and a bowl of split pea soup. Everytime ive eaten there the gyro has been cut from a spindle. Tonight there were 6 pieces of thinly cut gyro packaged pieces atop a salad. What really ground my gears was the "gyro" meat. That was not traditional gyro meat or what i would expect to have given what youre asked to pay. I will say say i am somewhat of a Greek food enthusiast. I've dined at Greektown in Chicago. Most notably my bff is Greek. Her mom is an amazing cook and they own a Greek American diner. The pathetic excuse that was presented as "Gyro" meat is appalling. I called and asked for the manager and informed them that it is bad business not to mention that the gyro was not cut from a spindle. She replied "our gyro has never been cut from a spindle, its shipped from Tampa" Now i KNOW ive eaten gyro from a spindle from there before. Needless to say from the experience this evening to basically just the sub-par "Greek" food, I won't be returning. This place is always packed, either the locals and snow birds dont know any better...or they are desperate. read more

Three stars for a nostalgic experience. It's not fancy, it's cheap and it reminds me of the stories of a restaurant my father used to own, before I was born. I ordered a bagel, don't ask me why, with egg and cheese. It was tasty and certainly not large but worth the cost. My brother, the yelp developer who is having a nice life, insisted we meet there even though he ended up not eating. All of us enjoyed our meals and felt at home. They have philodendrons hanging from the ceiling and we marveled about what a pain it must be to water them. It's pretty homey and it feels like you are really deep into the neighborhood while you are there. It's cheap, simple and fairly quick. I can tell you that I wouldn't have picked to go here if I was given full reign over the decision but, having been made to go, I have no regrets. It was nice to connect as a family in a place that they don't rush you out of before our collective travels. read more

This is my favorite "go to" Restaurant in PUNTA GORDA for breakfast. The food is delicious and not swimming in oil. I often order the feta and spinach omelet which is loaded with stuffing. While in vacation in Punta Gorda we noticed a very busy restaurant with several people waiting outside. There isn't a shortage of restaurants in the area so we decided we needed to put it on our list. We ate breakfast there and it didn't disappoint. It has an 80's Florida feel with casual booths and tables. The staff was professional and friendly and the owner was keeping a close eye on the service. I had a Greek Breakfast bowl which I will crave until I'm back to visit again. The pancakes were as good as you'd hope for in a diner like this and the coffee was perfect. Very reasonable prices and I noticed they have early bird specials from 11am-3pm. This is one of the few times in my life I followed the crowd and wasn't disappointed. read more

We had breakfast at Elena's in PG this week. The service was good, the waitress was excellent, the food was okay. Only giving 4 of 5 stars because of a comment the owner made. When paying the cashier, I attempted to use the hand sanitizer that was next to the register - positioned for customers to use. Nothing came out - it was empty. No big deal, but I just mentioned it to the cashier so she'd know. She told me she knew it, had reported it to the owner before, but it haven't been replaced or refilled. As we were walking out the door, the cashier walked up to the owner and told him about the hand sanitizer. He practically bit her head off and said, "I don't care, I'm not replacing it. They (customers) can get their own." Although I feel sorry for small restaurants and the business they've lost during this past year, his attitude was uncalled for. Based on his attitude, I'm sure he won't care, but he's lost us as customers. And I feel sorry for his staff if that's how he talks to them. read more

This year we were snowbirds until our house is built. We are here 3 times a week for months. Then I was given a cold dish of baked ziti. I asked them to heat it - 3 times. By this time, the noodles were hard and cracking. I just gave them the dish. I asked to see the manager (in my line of vision) and he ignored me. (He is the owner's son) Then I said I wanted to be credited for the meal, which included a drink and a small piece of dessert. The waitress insisted that we take the dessert - she felt bad. Then we got the check - they had credited me about $5 for the the meal and charged me for the drink and dessert. So they lost customers who were spending about $250-300 a month there over a $8.95 special. We will never go back! read more

Had Saturday morning breakfast here. The menu is really extensive with different combinations and some less frequent items like crepes. The pancakes were awesome, and the biscuits and gravy was also decent (had a bite of my sister's). Coffee was so-so but service was excellent at keeping it filled. Our server was awesome--can't remember her name but she had a sparkly silver cloth for a belt. Great breakfast spot and had a large round table booth for my family. Would definitely go back! I've been to Elena's many, many times for breakfast or lunch for over the last 5 years. This is more of a diner atmosphere and is not a high end dining place. Their menu is pretty extensive, the prices are very reasonable, food is good, service is excellent and food comes really quickly. I'm not a fan for dinner, but breakfast/lunch it's a very good place. It can get really busy during snowbird season so you may have to wait for a table if you come at peak times such as Sunday morning and lunch hour. Staff is really nice and friendly. read more

Went to Elena's this morning for breakfast before church. There was a line outside but we got in within 10 minutes, happily chatting with other diners who were also waiting. Had the Western Omelette with egg beaters, home fries and toast. The food was GREAT, not greasy, service was outstanding, the waitress came back several times to fill our coffee cups and water glasses. It is the best value and service in the Punta Gorda area for breakfast. read more

My experience at this restaurant was terrible. My husband had gyro , the meat was like cardboard. When he told waitress she said,"oh". That was the end of it never offered to do anything. I had pasta dish it was fair at best and the pasta special was suppose to be 7.99 and it was 9.50. Upon going to front desk to pay and asked why this is 9.50 instead of 7.99 like it says on window I was told because I got ziti instead of spaghetti. Really is ziti more expensive than spaghetti! I said, I was not told that when I ordered. He just looked at me. Nothing done at all. A lost customer for the sake of $1.51. We eat out around 4 nights a week this was the last time we will eat at Elena's. read more
