I really wanted to love this restaurant. It seems to be family owned. When we walked in, after a few awkward minutes the hostess asked us if we wanted to sit down. She was extremely rude. Our waitress was friendly and worked really hard. We ordered and our food was delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the chicken greek wrap and my husband had the lasagna. His had steam coming off of it. After about my third bite some of the carrots were coming out of the wrap. I happen to look down and there was an orange cap that goes on electrical wires in my wrap! Luckily I saw it before I took a bite. We called the waitress over and she was very apologetic. She offered to have my meal remade. While my husband was eating his lasagna I sat waiting for my new meal. When he was done eating my new meal arrived. I had a couple bites and asked for a box. The waitress offered me a free dessert for my troubles. When we went to pay we encountered the rude hostess again. She did not say anything but the total on the bill. A gentleman behind her asked how our meal was. I told him about the cap in my wrap. He was not very apologetic but did take my meal off the bill. All in all I am thankful I did not bite into the cap but I guess my expectations for customer service were definitely too high. read more

Went here for lunch on Saturday, a very nice place and staff. Our Waitress was from CT and we are from Mass so that started several conversations. I started with lemon chicken soup. Very good, well stocked. We ate at Elena Restaurant for the first time today Feb. 14,2024 and was quite pleased with service and food. However, as I was paying my check, I asked the owner/manager at the cash register if it was better to pay my waitress cash or by credit card. The owner/manager stated it did not matter so I paid by card. At no time was I informed at the cash register that if I paid with my credit card, I would be charged an additional 3.5% fee for using my credit card. This additional fee was not only charged on the cost of my meal but also the taxes as well as my tip. Elena's owner/manager "MUST" inform each customer at the time of payment that an additional fee of 3.5% would be charged on the entire total of the check when using any credit card. This deception "MUST STOP". I am quite sure that the large majority of Elena's customers are unaware of such a deceptive fee until they visually check their receipt after they have left the restaurant or not all. Elena's owner not only deducts their credit card commercial usage fee from their taxes but they also secretly increase their profit margin. Had Elena's owner/manager informed me or any customer of such a deceiptful fee then we would have the option to decide whether to use cash or otherwise. Shame on Elena Restaurant Owner/Manager for their implementation of this scam so as to offset their specific credit card commercial fees by deceiptively passing it unbeknowingly unto their customer. This place is so busy. Here on Monday at 11:00. I guess there are a lot of retired people around. I thought the place was a little dirty, especially the bathrooms. There is a good selection of omelets, eggs and pancakes. Nothing was special. It's just a good breakfast place. Coffee was OK without flavored creamers. No fries before lunch time and we were there 11:00. Spinach, bacon, cheese omelet was about $8 which was a good price but I was not a fan. Shredded potatoes were flavorless. Enjoyed their eggs, very fresh. Wife's said her meal was as it should've been. Liked the link sausage, not over seasons. They have a good variety and their menu is a reasonable size. I'm not a fan of menus the size of novels. Restaurants need to be good execution of every dish or don't have it on the menu. Many with big menus are usually so so. Very expansive breakfast menu, and there's a neat "$18.89 for 2" breakfast menu that has several options. I have eaten here many times but this place has just hit the tired and rick bottom level. So inconsistent on food quality and everything is just drenched in pan and grill oil. My toast was soooooooo oily as well as the potatoes. My go to is the gyro tomato and onion omelette. That being said I mentioned to the waitress can you make sure they put gyro meat in there this time or do I need to order extra. She said no I'll make sure they put gyro meat in there today It came back and had less gyro meat than the time before. The other thing I noticed today is how extremely dirty this place has gotten. Just look at the Tumblers they give you the water or pop or your soft drink in. Those tumblers they put pop tea and water in they need to ditch those are so old and worn out they have sharp edges around the rim they're so worn out get some new ones they're not that expensive ask your pop distributor he may give them to you for free. What really grinds my gears is that not only this establishment but many others in the area just don't care what they put out anymore. There is such an increase of tourists and the increase of new residents that don't even know what it was like before and they have so many people just coming through as tourists they just don't have to be good anymore. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY - I'd rather Go to Waffle House. So I'm in town working like many, and goto Elena's for a well earned real breakfast. I ordered Elenas $15.00, 3 egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns, & toast with a glass of whole milk. Sad to say, but the milk and toast were the only 2 things worth eating. I ordered 3 eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese, but received some type of mixture that hopefully had some egg in it, that likely came from a 1 gallon bucket. The cheese was 3 slices of processed American cheese slapped on top, not even melted. The hash browns I ordered extra crispy, & were actually not hash browns at all, they were breakfast potatoes all smashed up like mashed potatoes. Not a bit of browning to them, as requested. The bacon was 3 pieces like they advertised, but in reality it was 1 normal slice of bacon sliced into 3 paper thin slices. That's a neat trick in itself. The toast was good, but then again, hard to mess that up. Finally the glass of milk was served in a small kids cup, hardly sufficient for a 3 year old. The server was a rough & shrewd old lady, but maybe if I got to know her could find some charm in this "get what you see" attitude. Overall, I ate a few bites and left the rest, as it wasn't worth $15.00 for me, to put this type of fake food in my body. If management or owners care enough to even read these reviews, give people what you promised them, and if you can't serve this common dish for $15.00 and make money, then raise the price. But don't serve people this garbage cause it's obvious what we're eating. Take pride in what you do, or find something that makes you proud to offer your customers. read more

I was a little apprehensive at first since I was the one who picked the place we were going. It turned out better than expected, thank God! I had breakfast there the morning after Thanksgiving. Ordered a ham and cheese omelette that comes with hash browns and toast. The hash brown was basically mashed potatoes reheated in the skillet ( browned on each side). Once I took a bite, I realized it's boiled potatoes, mushy and had no flavor or any seasoning or even salt. Was very disappointed since I love crispy hash browns. Waiter came to clear the plates after we were finished eating, asked how everything was and I asked him about hash browns, that they were not hash browns (but mashed potatoes reheated). He then asked me if J wanted the hash re done. We were done eating and we're not going to wait for 1/2 of my meal to be cooked from scratch so we asked for the bill. No apology, no discount, of course expecting a tip still. Tipped still of course but won't be back. Be more specific in the menu or verbally tell customer when order is placed if you are going to substitute something or fix the problem when customer is not happy. read more

On a recent trip to see my father, we had talked all morning and got to thinking about lunch. Since he lives in the area and is a fan of this local diner, we decided that this would be a great spot to have a burger and fries. We were seated immediately and my father noted that had we been a little later, the restaurant would be full for lunch. Sure enough, fifteen minutes later there was hardly a table open in sight. Our waitress came straight away and we both opted for coffee and ice water. It was delivered almost as soon as asked for and I only glanced at the menu that is extensive because I was going to take the advice of my local frequent flyer lunch mate and order a burger. He had a regular burger with fries and I asked for bacon, cheese, and mushrooms to be added to mine with a side of onion rings. Both plates were well prepared and the lettuce, tomatoes, and onion were fresh and inviting. I asked for medium rare and that's exactly what I got. Juicy and delicious. First time here. The hostess was cheery and led us promptly to our table, where the waitress got us our coffee almost as fast as we sat down. My wife had French toast w/ sausage and home fries and I had a stack (3) of pancakes w/sausage and home fries. Home fries were real, and not something out of a box. Everything was served with a smile and tasted pretty good. Only weakness.....being from Maine we prefer real maple syrup instead of the manufactured stuff, and the same for real butter instead of whatever it was.
