I stop in frequently and always enjoy myself, everyone who works there is awesome & work their tales off. There coffe & pastries rule!

We were happy to visit this incredibly popular bakery during the afternoon when we were able to snag an inside table on a chilly day. The French hot chocolate was sinfully delicious...essentially a mug of hot, melted chocolate in sipping form! We would have been happy to sample so many of their pastries or lunch options, but we restrained ourselves and just shared the lemon ricotta danish. The crust was buttery goodness, with a creamy, not-too-sweet lemony center. The staff were super pleasant - I can see why locals like to meet and linger here...just know that getting a table is quite a challenge.

Weekends are absolutely insane here--try coming on a weekday if you can. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful interior, great food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Slow service for a Monday but not an issue if you're able to snag one of the tables and take in the ambiance. Loved my smoked salmon on simit and my fiancé enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla scone.

I read from the reviews that it gets very busy so we decided to try their online ordering so we wouldn't have to wait in line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very small inside so with people standing in line and people waiting for the food, it felt kind of cramped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If there weren't so many people, I imagine it would feel cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the chocolate pistachio croissant, pistachio croissant, blood orange Danish, and a cinnamon roll. Out of the four items, the standout were the croissants which were buttery, flaky, and delicious. They had other breakfast and lunch items that looked yummy so we will definitely go back to try them to go!

I have considered driving the 217 miles back to Elephantine for their Mortadella Focaccia! It was that memorable. However, I was just this year's old when I found a location in Boston that I will line up when I next visit my son and daughter-in-law. Anyone here in the local Long Island community who knows where I can have one now, let me know! Almond pastry and coffee stellar also!

At least six months later, I am still thinking about this meal I had. I love a good sandwich especially when it's in the form of a bagel with salmon. It is so good! It made my best bites of 2025 review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bakery is small but has some seating inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ate this on the little stone wall outside and it was everything I could have wanted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although there is a line usually, the service is fast and DELICIOUS!

I was so excited to try Elephantine Bakery today. Cheat code was to order ahead because we got there and the line was out of the door. Great sign! We were able to see a worker bringing food out to a seated guest and we picked the order up without waiting. I ordered the cinnamon roll and the rosemary focaccia bread. Both were amazing! The cinnamon roll was light and fluffy. I'm not the biggest fan of cream cheese frosting but it wasn't bad and didn't take away from it at all. The focaccia's flavor was amazing. It was everything! The size of it big enough to cut multiple pieces and share it with my husband. If we're able to come back I'd love to sit inside or out and try more items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entire atmosphere was beautiful and looked picturesque.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So so good.!

Honey and cardamom latte with oat milk and a pistachio croissant

While making my way from Boston up to Maine, I stopped on a rainy Sunday morning at Elephantine Bakery for my morning latte and a little treat. The space inside the bakery is extremely limited, but I managed to grab a spot at one of the tiny tables. Normally, it looks like they also have outdoor seating, but not on this particular rainy day. I ordered a honey and cardamom latte with oat milk and a pistachio croissant. The service was extremely fast and friendly. All of the pastry items in the display case looked incredible and I wish I could have sampled one of each! The latte was warm and soothing - the perfect drink for a rainy day. The pistachio croissant had great flavor and was subtly sweet. If I lived in the area, I would be a frequent customer of Elephantine Bakery. Keep up the great work!

This spot is super popular, and for good reason! The vibe is amazing--its location almost makes you feel like you're not even in NH. They offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options, and their coffee is absolutely delicious--it genuinely tastes like it's made with love. I tried the ricotta toast and was blown away by the size and presentation. The ricotta was perfectly whipped, topped with seeds, honey, and just a touch of salt for balance. I asked if they had a fig drizzle instead of honey, which they didn't, but the staff member smiled and said, "That's a great idea." Honestly, if they added it, I'm sure it would be a hit! Everything tasted fresh, and you can really tell they take pride in the food they serve. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu.

Amazing amazing !! Small, alley has a handful of tables. 100% worth the wait if there is a line. Few come close to the exciting menu and fabulous execution of pastries and sandwiches and entrees. Superb !!!

So I was visiting from nyc and found this small Cafe hidden in an alley way. Its located in a cute all brick alley with all of these mom and pop owned restaurants and businesses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It had the elegant bamboo outdoor seating set up with 2 tables[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The entrance and main floor had like 3 tables set up for customers and what appeared to have a mirrored glass wall with what looked like an attempt at making it look vintage. Im not sure they succeeded. But the first floor where the ordering took plqce was very crowded. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offered additional seating on the second floor. The second floor had this bright red wall paper. The decor was strange. The bathroom even stranger. It was bright red wall paper with zebras. And gold accents mirrors[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .on the plus side They had a glass water dispenser on a silver platter on the side with glass cups for anyone waiting on an order to enjoy. The staff were attentive and nice. i had the jalapeño cheddar pretzel with an espresso and I ordered my husband a ham and bree on sourdough and a latte. I was told by the staff that my husband's sandwich would take about 15 minutes to make. He was not very impressed with the latte or his sandwich. He is a black coffee drinker if the coffee is good.My espresso and pretzel were good. They're definitely a spot to go to for some coffee a pastry or something small. I would not recommend this spot for a heavy breakfast. As the menu for food is very limited. They did have an assortment of breads and pastries. A plus is they allow dogs in the outdoor seating areas.

Such a quality quaint coffee and breakfast spot! It's a walk up and pay kind of place. The lines can become extremely long waiting for seats can be an issue. We absolutely loved the unique cilber breakfast items and fabulous high quality ingredients bakery items! Downside it the up charge for jams and higher prices in general. However if money not an issue then I ighly recommend!

I was staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Downtown Portsmouth and found Dwntwn Grocer & Cafe just a short two-block walk away. The space is a small, bright market-café with cheeses, salamis, drinks, and a focused food menu. Natural light fills the room through the large windows, and they also offer fresh coffee and lattes. Two young women working the lunch shift were genuinely friendly and made a delicious sandwich. The croissant was outstanding: ***light and flaky*** and the chicken salad itself was refreshing, with grapes and red onion. The only change I requested was leaving off the pickled onions. It was so good I ordered a second one and finished it. I already plan to go back for lunch tomorrow....!

The place is order at the counter or online and there is seating in the front area and along the windows. I stopped by here recently late afternoon. I already had coffee, so all I needed was a breakfast sandwich, which is offered all day. I got a BYO Egg Breakfast Sandwich ($8.75 plus tax) on an Everything Bagel with goat cheese, pickled onions ($), pork sausage patty ($), round egg patty, tomato, & romaine lettuce ($ subbed for spinach), which was prepared to order and ready to go in 6 minutes. I headed back to my vehicle outside and enjoyed this tasty thick bagel egg sandwich with my black coffee, which was my quick dinner before heading over to a gathering. I would definitely return to Dwntwn for another breakfast sandwich and muffin next time.
