Great experience at Elia Pleasanton. Drinks were really well-made and had a balanced flavor palette (Aphrodite and Mastiha Mojito). We got the lamb chops and filet mignon. We asked for medium for the lamb chops and received more on the medium-well side, so I would ask for medium rare to get a true medium. The flavor was amazing though, would have been perfect if it was just slightly less cooked. The filet mignon was a true medium rare, and incredibly juicy. Flavor/spices were a 10/10 for both dishes. The ambiance was very enjoyable, with modern Greek style decor and sleek lamps on each table. Seats were really low which was a bit uncomfortable. Came for an impromptu dinner downtown. To summarize, service was stellar, ambiance was perfection and food was amazing. Diving into details: We were seated by the fire pit with a view of a bustling downtown. Lupe was our server and she was AWESOME. She was welcoming, informative and made us feel like we were right at home. While enjoying our espresso martinis fireside, we perused the menu and decided to try things we had not yet tried here. One of our favorites is the Saganaki (flaming cheese), which is such a fun table-side presentation, but this time we opted for the zucchini cakes served with greek yogurt - delicious!. We got avgolemono (greek chicken rice/lemon soup) and a gem salad as well as the filet souvlaki (kebab). We shared a bottle of a a greek wine similar to pinot noir (sorry I can't remember the name) and enjoyed a truly fabulous evening downtown from start to finish. Hubby brought me here for my birthday and the food was delicious! Great ambiance and staff. Such a cute spot for any occasion. We ordered the lamb chops, steak, chicken skewers.. everything was so good we left no crumbs! For dessert we got the choco lava cake with ice cream, so yummy. This is a great Greek restaurant! I appreciate that they have saganaki that they flambé at the table. The avgolemono soup is savory and great, the pita is soft and lightly crispy. Came here for the first time for Mother's Day brunch, it was good! I had the lamb chops, which were so tender, just a smidge over cooked but delicious. Highly recommend the poached pear dessert, it was unique and delicious as well. The baklava was good, nothing to write home about but good nonetheless. The ambiance was lovely here. We went to Elia for first time time on Sunday night in Pleasanton. We arrived early and had ample time to enjoy the light and well decorated dining room. Lots of choices on dinner menu, fried and grilled squid for starters. Big dish of calamari, but the grilled squid was a really small portion. Entrees ordered at our table included a filet mignon on a stick with veggies, salmon with mixed sea food in a spicy rice, grilled chicken on a stick, and lamb chops. Plus a side of pasta for the kids. Items served were good. The mixed grill with salmon was good, but the rice was too spicy and starchy. I had the filet mignon on stick, and I had to send it back as when I finally got the entree, the beef portions were barely warm! I noticed that pita bread was not mentioned or a rice pilaf on the menu. I asked the host and he remarked, they served house made rolls, which was all that was available that evening. Anyway, after heating, the filet was tender, moist, and more flavorful. Sharing with my grandson, he asked for more tender beef. Our dinner time was 6 pm, but I noticed that there was only a single waiter for about five tables, and several tables in the outside eating area. So service was slow, maybe why my beef dish was cold. We ordered a lava cake for the three kids, and I actually had to get the attention of the waiter to pay our tab. Then when he was so busy, take the check to him in order to pay for the meal. Really, the dining room is quite spacious, and along with outside dining, that single waiter covered a heck of a lot of territory! To sum up our experience as a maybe, I wonder if lunch is any better, as food was okey, but shortage of staffing was disappointing. read more

I'm not going to lie, I wasn't expecting to like Elia as much as I did. I'm not too familiar with Mediterranean dishes, so when I looked at the menu - I wasn't sure what to order. I picked dishes that I knew and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The octopus was amazing, we were going to order seconds but enjoyed the incoming dishes so much that we forgot. I would definitely go back to explore other dishes! The paella was very flavorful and loved that they left chunks of vegetables in the rice rather than dicing them up. We also ordered french fries that came topped with feta. I'm not sure they were on the menu - we saw them being served to another table and asked if we could get an order. The kitchen was closed, but our waitress still asked if we could place a last minute order for the fries - wish we got her name because we were so thankful for the extra effort! The poached pear really stole the show and was a perfect ending to our brunch. The ice cream was different - in the best way possible! I got the stuffed croissant sandwich w/breakfast potatoes. It was ok and mind you the size of breakfast potatoes was literally 7 pieces of potato. When we were done, I got the bill and was shocked by the price of the kid's pasta. When does a kids meal at any restaurant ever cost more than an adult plate? That's just ridiculous. Definitely going back here and getting the exact same thing- but we both will be ordering the Lobster Bucatini- it was that delicious. I can't begin to tell you how good that Lobster Bucatini was. It looks very upscale and its own way The service was very good. Two of us dined and we both enjoyed our meal very very much. We had the roasted cauliflower, which to my surprise was absolutely delicious. We were there on a Sunday, so it was a brunch menu so I got the omelette. Not your typical omelette. This is a thin egg omelette with wonderful fillings of feta cheese, spinach, olives, and peppers. Cooked absolutely perfect.
