Came here for lunch with my daughter. The food was ok. When we sat down they only gave us adult menus and when I asked if they had kid menus, they said no. The waiter said we can make pasta w/marinara sauce and meatballs, chicken or beef skewers w/rice for the kids. So my daughter chose the pasta. The meatballs were ok but my daughter did not like them. I got the stuffed croissant sandwich w/breakfast potatoes. It was ok and mind you the size of breakfast potatoes was literally 7 pieces of potato. When we were done, I got the bill and was shocked by the price of the kid's pasta. When does a kids meal at any restaurant ever cost more than an adult plate? That's just ridiculous. This place is ridiculous. It's gorgeous and the food was so tasty - everything we ordered was incredible and easily Michelin-grade. The octopus was out of this world with softness and not chewy at all which is how you can tell if it's a well done octopus. The ONLY minor complaint is that the mussels were a bit off and did taste like they were very old - they had the funky smell that probably meant it sat for quite some time and weren't as fresh as they could be (hopefully not heated up from frozen either). I would highly suggest that the team taste their mussels before serving them. Other than that hiccup, everything else was really great from the service and the delicious mimosas and our brunch was just such a great time in their little spot outdoors, also pup friendly which is always a plus. read more

My husband went here with a friend for his Birthday in December and immediately wanted to go back. We came back New Years Eve (day)- and got seated immediately. What a gem of a restaurant. Felt like I was transported back to Greece. I highly HIGHLY suggest you get the Bucatini with lobster. It was mouth watering. 10/10. My husband had the beef Gyro and stated it was one of the best he's ever had. We don't drink, so we ordered the Sparkling water and it was so good and bubbly. Celebrating a Birthday they give you a piece of Baklava with a firecracker candle that is festive and fun. Definitely going back here and getting the exact same thing- but we both will be ordering the Lobster Bucatini- it was that delicious. I can't begin to tell you how good that Lobster Bucatini was. What a great find! The food was fresh light and flavorful-everything Greek should be. The decor had casual but upscale Santorini vibes. The prices aren't super cheap, but the portions are great. I went with my husband and e ordered two appetizers and an entree to share. We probably would have been fine with just two appetizers, but the entree (a whole bass with Israeli couscous) was amazing. I'd love to go back with more people to try more things. The service was incredible. This restaurant is one our favorites! Right from the beginning, we were excited to have an authentic Mediterranean restaurant close to where we live. The staff is very pleasant, and attentive. The food, is absolutely on point! Everything we've ever ordered has been fantastic! The octopus, the saganaki, kalamari are great for appetizers. Once in a while, there is this special dish, it's an avocado stuffed with crab and salmon and served with an arugula salad. It's so delicious, and it would be a shame if you didn't order it! This is a great Greek restaurant! I appreciate that they have saganaki that they flambé at the table. The avgolemono soup is savory and great, the pita is soft and lightly crispy. We went to Elia for first time time on Sunday night in Pleasanton. We arrived early and had ample time to enjoy the light and well decorated dining room. Lots of choices on dinner menu, fried and grilled squid for starters. Big dish of calamari, but the grilled squid was a really small portion. Entrees ordered at our table included a filet mignon on a stick with veggies, salmon with mixed sea food in a spicy rice, grilled chicken on a stick, and lamb chops. Plus a side of pasta for the kids. Items served were good. The mixed grill with salmon was good, but the rice was too spicy and starchy. I had the filet mignon on stick, and I had to send it back as when I finally got the entree, the beef portions were barely warm! I noticed that pita bread was not mentioned or a rice pilaf on the menu. I asked the host and he remarked, they served house made rolls, which was all that was available that evening. Anyway, after heating, the filet was tender, moist, and more flavorful. Sharing with my grandson, he asked for more tender beef. Our dinner time was 6 pm, but I noticed that there was only a single waiter for about five tables, and several tables in the outside eating area. So service was slow, maybe why my beef dish was cold. We ordered a lava cake for the three kids, and I actually had to get the attention of the waiter to pay our tab. Then when he was so busy, take the check to him in order to pay for the meal. Really, the dining room is quite spacious, and along with outside dining, that single waiter covered a heck of a lot of territory! To sum up our experience as a maybe, I wonder if lunch is any better, as food was okey, but shortage of staffing was disappointing. read more

The Valentine's Day menu was easily the most disappointing preset menu I've ever had. It was $125 with a compulsory 20% tip and the quality and quantity of food couldn't have been worth more than $50. There were limited choices and some of choices made me regret not getting a different option. Don't get anything beef related because both the wagyu and the steak were overcooked and bland. This location has been quite a few restaurants over the years. I decided to try the most recent. Elia was pleasantly surprising. The look is really nice inside. The colors are bright and cheerful. It looks very upscale and its own way The service was very good. Two of us dined and we both enjoyed our meal very very much. We had the roasted cauliflower, which to my surprise was absolutely delicious. We were there on a Sunday, so it was a brunch menu so I got the omelette. Not your typical omelette. This is a thin egg omelette with wonderful fillings of feta cheese, spinach, olives, and peppers. Cooked absolutely perfect. Wonderful ambience, especially for dinner. Downtown Pleasanton has lively vibes with music playing along Main Street and there are many good restaurants in the area. The food at Elia was tasty. Their wait staff were very friendly and the customer service was on point. This restaurant is nicer and somewhat modern and upscale, but it offers a more laid back atmosphere where time is not of the essence and you are not meant to feel rushed. If you're in a hurry to just eat and run, perhaps casual dining would be more appropriate. Regarding the food, their filet mignon souvlaki was delicious. Spices in this dish were very fragrant and the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The octopus appetizer was a nice addition to dinner. It was cooked well and not hard or rubbery. It had a nice tender texture and the greens that complimented this appetizer were well balanced and brought out the flavors in the dish. read more

We've been here a couple of times, both were fantastic. But I wanted to comment on this last time in particular. We celebrated our grandmother's 80th birthday here last week with a sizable party of about 30 people, and it was fantastic. The service was impeccable, with a head server checking in with our aunt (the main "planner" of the event) every so often to inquire about food service timing. We started the evening with both red and white sangrias, which were both refreshing. The food was served family style, per our request. It was all hits, no misses. We had the trio of dips, zucchini cakes, meatballs, spanakopita, calamari, the rib eye, the sea bass, moussaka, and probably a few other things I'm missing. The standout, however, was the lobster buccatini. It sounded like that was the dish of the night. The lobster and pasta were cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich, but light. We brought cakes for our celebration, and many of us had the greek coffee which was a great accompaniment. I cannot say enough about the wait staff here. They were so attentive to our every need and were so kind and thoughtful. We will definitely be back for the wonderful food and service. I just went here today afternoon really excited after looking at all the reviews. I made a reservation ahead of time and the place wasn't really packed. We sat down and the server got us some water and bread and the weather was perfect spring. 25mins passed and no one came to take our order while the tables beside us have ordered and received their food as we were watching. I had to call the waiter who was brining water to let him know that our order was not taken. Then a waitress came and asked us "Are you ready to order now?" Seriously! as if I was asking her to wait for me to think for 20mins. So, I was a bit rude and said "we have been waiting for 25mins" she responded "the manager is notified and she will put in a rush for the food" but seriously no apology what so ever. The food came at a regular time and nothing in a rush and was not even piping hot, overall, the food was average - nothing exceptional and maybe I was hangry by then. The waitress got an appetizer for our long waiting after we were 10mins into our main course and we rejected, as i did not see a point in having appetizer after the main course. The day I went, there was live music at the restaurant next doors and a DJ playing music inside the restaurant which made it super loud and chaotic. The food is mediocre and expensive, so you are definitely paying for the ambience not the food. Really wish something accompanied the saganaki cuz it was super heavy just eating a block of baked cheese. The moussaka was very room temp and looked very sad compared to the photos on their website. Starting with the good: Service was fantastic, just the right amount of attention with waiting for us to finish. Wine list is solid, good selection of bottles and glasses. We sat outside at night (about 50F) and were quite warm by the fire with the heat lamp. The salads are quite good, well dressed. The fried olives were quite good. The not so good: the food. We had only appetizers, the bread seemed like it was purchased from Safeway, not tasty. The olive oil was not flavorful at all, from a Greek restaurant my expectation is at minimum a very good evoo, this was not. The flaming cheese is good, but it's just the cheese, no cornichon or other accoutrements to savor. The octopus was decent, worth getting. We had the eggplant appetizer, it had the taste and texture of canned eggplant, no caramelization as I would expect from 'roasted' eggplant. The pita was flat and seemed almost too cracker like while also not being a good cracker. The eggplant needed a lot of pepper to make it decent. Needed something (actual roasted eggplant, roasted garlic, and lemon maybe?), do not recommend. The escargot was not good at all. No garlic flavor, the parsley didn't seem right and the escargot was 'pieces' again almost like it came from a can, not prepared in a good manner, not good flavor more like wilted spinach which was weird.
