I have been wanting to try Elia for so long and finally made it! First off service is wonderful. I even saw one table getting the crumbs wiped off their table however no one did that for my table. The only gripe I have is there were two bathrooms and after waiting over 10 minutes I gave up. Other than that, the food was delicious. I had a lemonade (also wish the menu had non alcoholic drinks and sodas listed) and started off with the zucchini cakes. They were perfectly fried and the Greek yogurt sauce complemented it well. For entrees I had the seafood bucatini and the lamb meatballs and both were excellent. The pasta had nice pieces of salmon and scallops mixed in. For dessert I had the phyllo dough with cheese which was light and the poached pear over vanilla ice cream which was so refreshing I probably could have eaten a second one. We had a few staff come by, to place dinnerware, clean utensils, which was great, very attentive. Our waitress was very nice. She helped me select my cocktail which was perfect for me. I ended up ordering two. I started with a martini "evil eye" and my friend had a Pinot . We ordered the octopus as an appetizer. This is probably why I lowered one star. We came here for a weekend lunch, since Greek Moussaka is one of our 3yo son's favorite dishes. PARKING - Instead of stressing out over finding street parking, I recommend the Lesher Garage across from the restaurant. The first hour is free, so a 2-hour lunch may run you $1.25. APPS - The free bread is soft and chewy and come with a amazing peppery olive oil dip. The grilled octopus is worth getting. You get a very soft and tender tentacle. Although it was slightly over-seasoned for me, the wife liked it. It comes with a small salad with a variety of fruit. MAINS - The Greek Seabass (Lavraki) was a bit overcooked and on the dry side. I recall the version at E. Milos in LV Cosmo and it was a simple version with just olive oil and lemon, but man it was cooked perfectly. Elia's version seemed to have more seasoning and toppings along with a good-sized salad. The Moussaka was a solid dish - much more tomatoey than we're used to but overall good dish. The fried onions were a nice touch and added some crunchiness. The best dish was the Chicken Souvlaki I think. Perfectly seared chicken that was super juicy, and it came with healthy sides like couscous and a beet salad. Overall, 4 stars for me. I would recommend Elia as a nice place for a family dinner. Visited ELIA on a Friday night a few weeks back. I'll break my review into a few key sections: 1. Location/Ambiance: 3/5. Downtown WC is notorious for having the toughest parking situation but ELIA is located just a few city blocks from two major parking structures if street parking is not available. It's located a street over off N Main and hard to miss. The part that didn't make sense to me was what their aim as a business was: is it to be a fun/entertaining bar, an evening club/lounge location or a restaurant? If it's all three then each aspect is mediocre. Simply said, the space is too small/narrow to accommodate so much. A DJ was playing towards the front of the restaurant and we happily took the outdoor seating so we could enjoy conversation and a beautiful night. If we sat inside, I doubt we'd be able to hear one another and enjoy our meal. Albeit most of the other guests seemed to be enjoying it, it was just not what I was expecting. Staff/Service: 5/5. Our waiter outdoors and the young lady who was helping check in on us were great. We saw the waiter less but the young woman would consistently get us more water, bread and we even asked her opinion on plates and desserts. She was stellar! Between the two, I never felt like we needed to search for help and quick eye contact for their attention each time. Food: 4/5. I'm going to round up and give them a 4. The appetizers were great with the exception of meatballs which were very dry. Our entrees were served well and cooked just perfectly to each of our preferences. I typically do not like olives at all, but these olives were nicely flavored and fried. It was really addicting! For my entree, I got the beet salad with added shrimp as protein. Everything on the plate tasted delicious - the beets were tender, the cherry tomatoes were juicy, and the candied walnuts gave a good crunch. The shrimp was grilled perfectly! My only comment is that there should be more beets for a beet salad. Although the dish was plated so elegantly, I only had about 2-3 pieces of beets!
