Overall things were fine. Just not as good or as good of a value as it used to be. Pork was a bit dry. Brisket was slightly better. Sauces taste pretty standard. Great portion sizes but can be messy. Used to be as fantastic value but with price increases on BBQ it may not be worth the drive anymore. Service was as expected. And lastly, so many flies by the seating area. (Don't forget cash only)

HEARTBURN ALERT! First, this place is extremely overpriced for BBQ. The quality of the BBQ/smoked meat is awful: you should not get heartburn or "burp up" smoke taste after eating BBQ; this is a sign of poor quality, "I don't care," rip-off BBQ! The smoke in BBQ cooking must enhance the flavor: not destroy the flavor and give customers tummy aches. Standing in line and paying those prices for third-rate BBQ is just old fashioned foolish. Don't do it. Stay away from this place: This does not represent the best of old Florida cooking!

I was in Dunedin on a Friday and was feeling like having some BBQ. While there is a smokehouse in Dunedin, I wanted something more traditional so I decided to checkout Eli's. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of food:  Good. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and a side of baby back ribs. The pulled pork sandwich was a little dry and definitely needed a lot of sauce. They have good sauces that go really well with the pulled pork. The baby back ribs were in some sweet tangy sauce and it was fun to pick off meat off the bones. All in all...it was good but I just had higher expectations since I had heard a lot about Eli's. I wasn't blown away by the meats. Decor: okay. Eli's is going for a very low budget operation so they really don't have any decor and all the seating is outdoors. There are picnic benches and you get your food from a walk-up window. Cleanliness: good. The tables looked clean, although, they might have been kept clean by previous good customers. Service: good. I think it's just a small husband and wife operation and the lady that took my order was very nice and sassy :) Price: good. This place is cash only and the pulled pork sandwich was around $7 which is a good price. If you're in the mood for some classic BBQ and are in Dunedin on a weekend and are okay with "we close when we are sold out of it" type of a BBQ joint then Eli's is a worthy try.

The ribs were excellent. The beans are very nice with the brown sugar. The coleslaw was OK. That was the first time I went. This week I opted for the whole chicken with beans and black-eyed peas. She said she had potato salad and I thought it would be great. It was not it was cheap runny store bought potato salad , and the chicken was so cooked. You could put an eye out with a piece of the meat so dry and not edible. other than the beans, the whole $24 chicken went into the garbage.

    This sums it up!

AMAZING. First time to this part of Florida & we came here after my partner did research on bbq which is a must during our travels. We are very particular & this place had a line. Cash only & open Friday & Saturday. The people are so kind and friendly. Short wait for food. Highly recommend Support local, Black owned businesses

Fast service at Eli's. Outside eating only. Burnt ends go fast in the morning.

Made it a point to get to Eli's in Dunedin for some Bar-B-Que. Lots of free parking in lot next to Eli's. We had noticed the limited hours (11-6 Friday and Saturday) while walking on the Pinellas Trail in Dunedin which runs right passed it. It is in a small cinder block building and you order at the outside window. Outdoor seating on picnic tables, but most do takeout. It is a family-owned old-style restaurant with bbq pork, beef, chicken; and burnt ends. By the time I arrived, 5 PM, I was told "if you want to get burnt ends" you need to get there early in the day as it sells out early! So we ordered .1 lb of pulled pork, with sides of black-eyed peas and collard greens and tea for $15. You add the BBQ sauce on site. Curious as to why so popular, my wife was In line the next morning. She managed to get 1/2 lb of burnt ends before they sold out in just 15 minutes. That must be their specialty. The burnt ends were worth the second trip as they were perfectly done and the sauce was perfect and really made the difference. The staff was courteous, fun service as you can tell they love what they do. A major indication is that the locals love it and work around the limited hours as they know the routine and love their weekend Bar-BQ.

It is extremely loud and we had a hard time hearing each other and our server. Service overall was just okay. Drinks: - Key Lime Pie Martini - very sweet and tasted like flavored eggnog. sent back - Pomegranate Martini - not made consistently. My mom's was much sweeter than mine. Good, but nothing special - Almond Old Fashioned - this was nice. The almond was a nice change from a normal old fashioned Appetizers/Entrees: - Prosciutto & Date Flatbread - this had a nice amount of proscuitto, but there was too much balsamic dressing as it overpowered the whole dish - Spanish Octopus - TINY! It has nice flavor, but there's not a lot of octopus in it, which defeats the purpose - Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna - very nice flavor, but they only gave 6 pieces of tuna and 3 wonton chips for nearly $30 - Cedar Plank Salmon - best thing we got. It's the only dish that had the perfect amount of everything and was enjoyable to eat. The cedar gives the salmon a very nice flavor - Port Wine Glazed Pork Osso Bucco - disgusting mushroom risotto. Pork was undercooked so we had to send it back to be fixed. Came back cooked correctly and tasted decent. They gave a good amount of pork. This place is ridiculously pricey for the small amount you get for most of the dishes. Lots of issues with our visit and it just isn't a relaxing place to eat with how loud it gets. 2.5 stars overall.

I'm so sorry, wish I knew his name. He was the only male server there at the time so hopefully he gets credit. We made a reservation for dinner & walked in about 6:30pm. We waited only a minute maybe at the podium. It's in a strip mall which is odd for such an upscale place but it was kind of business casual not formal. We were seated in a comfy booth by our server. There was even a card sitting on the table, signed by the staff for our anniversary. Very sweet. This was our first time here so he showed us various specials on the menu. They had NYE specials since it was the 30th so we ordered from that. The drink menu is very small but I'm confident the bartender could have made me anything I asked for. We did not order bread, it's not included but we also did not want to fill up on it. I was dying to try the onion soup & was actually glad he recommended the mini size. It allowed us to try the soup but not fill up on it. I would totally return just for this soup! It wasn't long before our dinners were ready. Once it was in front of me I was honestly shocked at the raw beef but, it was truly seared & sliced to give it that presentation. I normally will not touch rare beef but this was actually delicious! The food was so good & fresh. The drinks were strong, not watered down at all. I actually had to get a Togo box for half my meal but it was a great lunch the next day. We did take home desserts as well which were also perfect. Our dinner was $200 which is quite steep but it was our anniversary & we truly enjoyed it. We will definitely return. I wish they did carry out for the soup. I think I'd order it every week if they did.. Overall I have zero complaints. The ambiance is not overly stiff either. They've made it so it's a mix of casual & elegance combined. If you'd like to dress up, go for it! Thank you, Parlor House for an amazing anniversary dinner.

When we were here last (as you can see in the attached photos) there were dark curtains blocking out the very casual plaza, white table cloths, dimmer lighting, and a stage at the front for live jazz music. It really felt transformative and intimate. This time when we walked in we were greeted by a beta fish tank which was incredibly odd lol, all of the curtains were wide open, no live music, wooden tables, confusing decor, it was super bright and so, sooo so loud. Tables were crammed together and you could tell the kitchen and bar were struggling with volume. I wouldn't mention this at all if the entrees weren't 50$. For the very pricy food and cocktails you expect an elevated interior- and the vibe felt really confusing. It's a shame because the food is exceptional- something to keep in mind if you're looking for a romantic date night. Excellent food romantic vibes Still worth trying if you're in the area- just adjust expectations. Dress code online business casual but folks were mostly in shorts and t-shirts.

Walking in to be seated, I noticed several empty tables that had not yet been cleared with several people waiting outside to be seated. I was told "there will be at least a 10-15 minute wait, to give my name, and to wait outside." I thought maybe there were enough people waiting already to take up the empty tables, but that wasn't the case. We sat outside in the cold waiting and watching the guy stand at the bar doing nothing to help bus the empty tables, some of which were right by the window. After 15 minutes or more, we were finally called in last walking by the same uncleared tables, led to another table as the table cloth was being placed on it, no menus, no apology for the extra long (unnecessary) wait outside in the cold. When we finally placed our order, we waited some more. Finally our server said "there was a mix up and our order had not gone through." Predatory worker compensation structure - Be aware…read more We recently dined here and noticed the tabletop signs explaining a mandatory 20% "commission" added to every single bill. When speaking with our server, she informed us that management classifies the waitstaff as 1099 independent contractors, meaning they receive a $0 hourly base rate from the restaurant and rely entirely on this mandatory guest fee for their paycheck.I have a physical copy of the check showing this automatic fee. While the sign claims this "supports our team," classifying standard restaurant servers as 1099 workers instead of W-2 employees is a massive red flag that contradicts federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines. Independent contractors set their own hours and operations; servers do not. Furthermore, a restaurant cannot legally leave a server's direct hourly base wage at zero by relying entirely on automatic service fees.We love supporting local staff, but we want our money going to businesses that respect basic labor laws and compensate their employees legally. Hopefully, public pressure will force management to fix their payroll structure. The server said the restaurant was on the verge of bankruptcy and had to make changes. Sadly they chose to break the law. On that note the service was lovely, the food very tasty. I asked to sub corn for flour tortias and she was able. We don't directly live in the area, and its been a while since we've been here. Its always good, with good portions and not a chain. Its so unfortunate.
