I can't say enough nice things about Elite. Took my Toyota Sienna to the Dealership for the 60,000 checkup and they came up with a laundry list of repairs. No big, but we do like to support local businesses (and I always like a second opinion). Long story short, they replaced a cracked CV boot for less, and provided a loaner so that my life didn't come to a crashing halt while they did the work. The was a short delay because the part they were sent appeared to have been opened and handled so they reordered the part. I appreciate the caution taken on my behalf. My car was running rough and needed an oil change so I took it into to Napa. I was told the battery wasn't providing enough voltage and needed to be replaced. Rather than pay the nearly $160 for a battery and labor I told the gentleman (Dave was his name) that I would replace the battery myself after I pick up the vehicle. He then told me I need all the fluids flushed and transmission serviced etc. I informed him that this was just done less than a year ago (the break fluid had even been replaced 5 months ago by this very service center when they installed new front & rear breaks). I declined all the unnecessary work and told him to go ahead and diagnose the rough idle and change the oil. Dave calls me back about 15 minutes later and tells me that he can't diagnose the engine with a bad battery. I asked if they could temporarily hook it up to another battery with jumper cables but Dave refused. I felt coerced into buying a WAY OVERPRICED battery just so they could run a diagnostic test on the car! Over $500 later when I go to pick up the car I find they didn't even perform the requested oil change; All I got for my $500 was a battery and a fuel system flush - COMPLETE RIP OFF!! Napa Autocare Center tries to sell you unnecessary services even resorting to strong arm tactics. In my case it was "I can't help you if you don't buy our battery" - BS!!! read more

First time customer using Elite Auto Shop. My brake pedal was soft and squeaking for months and it was beyond annoying to hear it each time I stepped on the brakes. I finally got it inspected and diagnosed. My brakes needed extra attention and elite auto shop bleed our my brake fluids, washed out the old moldy fluid build up, tighten up the calipers, just to name a few. Wanted to come here because it's close to my house. I saw their 5 star reviews and thought what the heck let's try a new place. I thought something was up when they had a "free oil change with a Yelp review," but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt. They ended up wanting to charge me $2200 for parts and labor on a compressor/condenser/valve replacement. I don't know too much about cars but that sounded a little steep. Calling my regular guy I found out that he's shocked at the pricing. I call to cancel but they're already going to charge me $400 just for taking the car apart and putting it back together. Phenomenal service! For a week or so, I was hearing a squealing sound coming from my brakes. After reading through all of the positive reviews, I went online and, through Elite's website, was able to schedule an appointment. Huge convenience! I received a follow-up email early the next morning, took my car in at 8:30 and was warmly greeted by the owner, Dave. He was very pleasant and even offered me a ride to anywhere I needed to go. I decided to hang out for a bit in their comfortable waiting area and then left a short time later. I had a call by Tim with the diagnosis by 11. After a quick cross-check of the repair he recommended on Repair Pal, I found that the quote Tim gave me was not only fair, but slightly below the estimate that Repair Pal provided. I took my 2002 Chevy Tahoe to Elite Auto Repair for a second opinion on a diagnosis given to me by Freeway Chevrolet dealer in Chandler and it was the best decision ever. Freeway Chevrolet diagnosis concluded that I needed a new engine ($7,500) because lifters making noise and low oil pressure, new steering pump ($850) because it was "noisy", oil leaks and other things for a total cost of $10,500. Elite Auto Repair technicians concluded that all I needed was a new Oil Pump ($2,100), there was no lifter noise, the steering pump was not noisy and I didn't have oil leaks just some seeping, I suspected this because my garage floor is clean. I talked to Service Manager Tim Hunsaker, he was very professional and polite and I was never pushed to install a new Oil Pump it was only a recommendation after the diagnosis, and I agree on it. After Elite Auto installed the new oil pump, my Tahoe oil pressure in idle went from 25 to 45 and revved from 40 to 60. Elite Auto Repair saved me $7,500 and repaired my vehicle. I'm extremely thankful to Elite Auto Repair and for sure this will be the place to bring my other vehicles for repair plus will recommend to anybody. This place is very clean and everything seems to be in order, as comparison, Chevy Dealer Service dept is like a messy place you feel the chaos and the incompetence is in the air. read more

I had 2-3 good experiences, but the service I received the most recent trip to Elite was excellent. Freddie specifically managed the work on my vehicle and kept me updated regularly on the status. He was even a little apprehensive about disclosing the overall cost to me, which showed he cared (unfortunately my vehicle is getting old and had some issues going on). They offered me a loaner car since they were keeping mine over the weekend at no additional charge (besides gas). I went to Elite to get my air conditioner fixed on my 16 year old car. As a recent transplant from California I wasn't sure where to take my car but after researching on Yelp I found they had a Yelp Deal and decided to give them a try. As a woman I am always a bit apprehensive about going into an auto shop for fear of being taken. When I came to Elite I will say that their customer service and the environment of their shop was clean, friendly and inviting. However, after visiting their shop a total of 3 visits in one month and paying almost $500 I wasn't happy that my air was still not fixed. They gave me an estimate of $1200 to put in a whole new system which I declined. After speaking with Dave the owner on the phone a variety of times he agreed to refund half of my money. The dreaded oil change... Is it me, or does it seem like every oil change end with a recommendation of about $500 worth of other services? This I why I always use Napa, they actually don't do that! Yes, they always have some recommendation, but it's usually relatively inexpensive, such as a tail light, or wiperbades... not complete engine and transmission rework! After my last service they gave me a heads up that I should prepare to change the steering fluid on one of my next visits. I appreciate their honesty and most importantly not relaying the information to me as if my car will explode if I don't "Do it now". I'm a return customer, not because Napa is the cheapest place to get my car serviced, but because they provide great customer service, complimentary transportation back to work, and honest mechanics! read more

I took my 2009 HHR in for a "clunking" in the front end and a wobble in the steering when I braked. I was really surprised with the "free" loaner car which was really great. They called not long after dropping it off sayng they could not track down the clunking noise which did not surprise me. It seems HHR's are famous for this problem and even GM is having a hard time with it. The did tell me my brake rotors were warped and would have to be machined and the rear brakes adjusted for a total of $250. I knew the rotors were probably bad before going in having self diagnossed on the HHR Forums so I agreed to the repair. When I dropped off my loaner car the next day I was billed a whole $6 and my $250 repair bill came out to a whopping $190. They had actually cut me a deal on the labor costs...unheard of in this day of ripofff artists! The turn around time was longer than anticipated however shop washed the car for me and replaced the fuse that blew when they reinstalled the battery at no cost. I went to Elite Auto Repair today in Tempe. For a quick oil change. They did their multi point check and found my cabin filter to be completely ugly dirty. Then my under hood air filter. Then my wiper blades were separating. So they showed me, asked for permission to replace and went over other findings that will be needing attention in the future. They even washed and vacuumed my car. No kidding. What I spend in dollars at the full service wash was free. Then they give me the bill and I am like this is crazy. Very affordable. I got my car serviced at Elite auto Repair this week, I had a check engine light on my VW Rabbit. They were able to troubleshoot and fix the issue, however, I think they charged me too much for the parts. They replaced 5 spark plugs and charged me 33 dollars per spark plug, I thought that was insane. Also the coil packs were also charged at a much higher rate than the actual price (with margin). End of the day my bill was $947, I tried to talk to the service adviser who basically argued with me and told me this is the price I get. I will not go back to this place again, they definitely lost one customer and 3 cars for future business. read more

My wife's brakes were really grinding during slow stop. Elite took our appointment, were ready when we dropped off and within an hour had a call of what was needed (Shoes and grinding rotors, not replacement). Repair done on time. Taking your vehicle in for service, be it routine or complex, shouldn't be a matter of high doubts and misgivings. It is one of the most advisable things in a lifetime to have a mechanic you can fully trust and ultimately depend on to resolve your issue. I have taken several vehicles to Elite and had routine and more complex work done on them. In every case I have always been treated very well and never charged anything I felt was exorbitant. On one occasion my son and I took his Altima there and Bruce came out and looked at it (during a hot day, no less) and took the time to explain to us what was going on with the vacuum system and a sporadic start up--no charge. On more complex maintenance they've even taken me back into the shop and pointed out the issue on my actual car so my own eyes could see what was going on. I have always been reluctant to hand my vehicle over to most any repair shop figuring everybody is on the make and wants to make an extra buck or two.
