My experience was under-whelming. My dog and I were greeted very politely. I gave my instructions and left. I received a callback within the time estimated. When I picked her up, she looked out of proportion. Big fuzzy head and tail, but her body and legs were groomed per my instructions. I had asked for her to be all one length ( I understand this can be defined differently by different people). Even her cut seemed uneven in a couple areas. Her sanitary area appeared to be untouched and it did not appear her ears were trimmed or cleaned out. Seems like they rushed through it. No comments or feedback from them when I picked her up. They took my payment and it kind of seemed like they couldn't get me out of there fast enough. I won't be back. Decent groomers are a dime a dozen. Never and I mean never take your cat to this facility. I made an appointment at 7 am on Wednesday because they said I could bring my cat in early and he wouldn't be exposed to all the barking dogs and he wouldn't get scared. They called me at 9:30 am (2.5 hours later) to come get my cat as he was freaking out and they had not done any grooming at all on him after 2.5 hours. The manager admitted to me that appointments mean nothing to them at this facility (but wouldn't my cat be first in line if I brought him in at 7 am?). They also admitted they took other dogs that were not scheduled to the next day ahead of my cat. The manager even said she couldn't groom the cat because he "hissed" at her. We have had this cat for a long time and I have never heard this very laid back Senior cat "hiss' at anything or anyone. They wanted me to bring the cat back in the afternoon so it would be quieter and they would give me 1/2 off. Seriously, so I should bring my cat back to be traumatized some more by this agency. The manager even said she might have to go to the ER if my cat scratched her (just me a break - the cat is a laid back 9 year old Senior cat). I have never been so angry in my life and this manager knows nothing about handling an upset customer even though she says she has been grooming animals for 20 years. She obviously knows nothing about grooming cats - just dogs. Also, this place is very expensive and charges double what other places charge for my cat to get this kind of abuse. I guess my question is why did you not call me at 7:30 am, 8 am, 8:30 am, etc. instead of choosing to wait 2.5 hours to call me to tell me my cat was freaking out. You would be freaking out too if you weighed 12 pounds and you were in a carrier with huge dogs barking at you. Avoid this place like the plague! I am reporting them to the Arizona Humane Society for traumatizing my cat and to PETA for severe animal abuse. read more

I have been taking my 3 dogs to Elite since we have moved to Arizona. For the first 2 years there were no issues. This the 3rd year seems the place has issues. Over this current year, here are the issues we have had. Tails not groomed,nails sharp,Ears not groomed. Had to bring them back to get fixed. Yesterday I took all three to be groomed. Appointment was at 1PM- Got a call at 3:25 that they were ready in 10 minutes for pick up. We got there paid and left. We went straight home and when we arrived I put the dogs in their run to relieve themselves. While standing there i noticed a decent size (2" circle) black spot on my cocker spaniel. I yell to my husband and put the dog on the table to look at the spot. There was a scab that was half off (basically hanging). I proceed to remove it. Elite apparently hit it with the razor because it was hang in off and cleanly shaved all around it. My main concern was that when Elite found it, at no time did some one contact me. I would have never brought him to be groom. I would be afraid that if it was an infection, my dog could pass the infection to another animal, since the place has the open corral for the dogs to socialize. I was also afraid that if another dog had an infection or something my cocker could catch it since his immune system is compromised. All they had to do is call me. When we picked up the dogs at no time did they inform me about the cut. Took the money and pushed us out the door. Also while checking the Cocker, i saw they didn't clean his ears either as they have always done and is part of the package I paid for. So I had to clean his ears, as I was NOT going back. Got a call today from Sarah, a groomer who worked on my dog. I w told yesterday that Michelle the owner was going to call me. Instead she decided it wasn't important to call me. So all the groomer said was she saw it and was sorry. She said she assumed we knew. But you never called I said. We knew nothing I said until I found it. Tell Michelle, I guess the animals aren't important. Its the $$$$$$ that is important. I'm still deciding whether to call my credit card company! Will be looking for a new groomer, for sure!!!!! If you use Elite make sure the animals all have their shots. Even the ones that are there before you leave yours! Mine have them all. In the three years I have been going there, We have only been asked once for the records of the dogs shots. That was on their first visit. Nothing since! I WILL NEVER BE BACK! read more

The first reason I like this place is that it is clean. The owner is very nice and helpful. I took my schnauzer here to be groomed and her cut was good but not great. I specifically told the groomer what I wanted but here were a few things off. Some parts of her beard were uneven and her chest was shaved way too short which looks like it could have hurt her. I like the idea that no dogs are placed in kennels while they are there but I have a small dog, so after she is nicely groomed the big dogs slobber all over her. So I end up picking up a dog that was clean but now stinks of dog slobber. read more

I have a labradoodle who gets matted very quickly. They always take the time to do the best they can to not have to cut her hair really short. This is the first place that has taken the time rather than just buzzing all of her hair off. read more

I've taken two of my dogs to Elite Paw Spa, and have been very happy with the results. They were amazing in filing down the nails on my reluctant bulldog. He threw an absolute fit and it took 2 people but the job got done. Way better than taking him to the vet and having him sedated! They also gave me some good advice on his diet. I hadn't even realized he might be allergic to his food. I don't know the full situation on the other reviews but it seems like unrealistic expectations that could probably be resolved by having a detailed conversation before the grooming. If your dog is matted you aren't going to get the cut you want. A groomer would have to shave them down to get the rats out. The only other option is to brush them out, which is painful and cruel to the dog. I knew my cocker spaniel was matted going in and they did the best they could with him. It was my fault for waiting too long, not theirs. read more

1st time and last time at this place! NEVER AGAIN! I emphasized that I didn't want my 2 girl dogs top head cut off... I wanted them to look girlie with long hair on their heads. So to my horror when I picked them up little after 5p became they were running awfully late and seeing my girls hair complete butch short! I called to vent and complain to then have the girl refute what I was trying to explain! She made me fume because she wouldn't allow me to explain the process and the steps I took to make sure what they did to my dogs didn't happen! I said, I can show you pictures of what they looked before they went in... she said, "well, how do I know when they were taken." Like I would make up, lie or fabricate proof! Yes, their hair will grow back but besides my dogs looking like CANAL RATS... they were at the groomers from 10a to 5:25p! I don't know if they got snacks or walked! I didn't get what I asked for and trying to explain my frustration was 1000 times worse! I will call my veterinarian to have this place removed from their referral system since they recommended them! read more

Today was my first and last time at Elite Spa. My dogs get groomed 2x/year and have for the 12 and 4 years they've been alive. I decided to try Elite today and it was beyond disappointing. I called after several hours to see if my dogs were ready only to be told they are having difficulty drying them because they are trying to bite (which has never been a problem in the past). I told them I would come and pick up my dogs since they were unhappy and uncooperative and since I had a vet appointment I needed to get them to. One was partially dry and one was still very wet AND had a "mess" on her rear end. They "discounted" my service since they weren't finished. I paid $100 for two dogs to get a bath!! That was the worst $100 I've ever spent. read more

I took my dog a Havanese on Thursday and told the girl when I checked in and told her that I didn't want him too short but when I picked him up he was shaved. I mentioned to the girl he was awfully short and she said he will be cooler. Cooler he now may get sunburnt he is cut so short. He looks terrible. I had taken him there several times before and he was always pretty good, but boy this time he was scalped. Also I told the girl he was not comfortable around big dogs, she said she would put him in the back but when I picked him up he was up front with the other big dogs that are at their doggy day care. I brought my great dane in for a toe clip/shampoo/ear cleaning. They made me feel like inconvenience and certainly unwelcome and the most. Ears not very clean, toe nails not very short. It was $40 and I was told it will be $10 more next time. They didn't even clip anything! One day later, my dog breaks out in giant welts all over his body. Hopefully he didn't catch some crazy disease! They offered me a re-wash but I will never go to this place again! Both thumbs down, no good! read more

I stopped in the Chandler location in May and asked if we could bring our two dogs for a few hours on June 7th. They very happily told me to come back and it would be complimentary due to a coupon special. We ended up leaving our dogs for five hours or more and when I asked how much we owed them I was told it was still complimentary. On top of that, they had bathed both dogs and trimmed the hair on one of them! I was so surprised and have never received such great service anywhere. I would recommend Elite Paw Spa 100%. I have a difficult rescue dog who was under socialized and had no handling training at all when I adopted him. I've worked really hard to get him over his fears and didn't want him getting stressed or for the groomer to be injured. I searched around for a groomer that would allow me to stay with him and handle him for grooming as he is now completely trusting of me, but not always with others. I was surprised to find that almost all of the groomers I spoke with were not interested in accommodating us and noticed this shop opened up next to my vet. When I went in, I spoke with the owner and explained our situation and she was more than willing to give it a try. I am so happy I found them! We have been going to this shop for several years now and have nothing but stellar things to say about the staff and the shop. The shop is always clean and everyone there loves dogs and is only interested in doing right by them. I know several of the groomers do rescue work and obviously love their work and love animals. The ladies make my dog look awesome, easy to maintain and with hardly any stress to him at all. He's always happy to go in the door, which tells me everything I need to know - we've found a great place. I love my little weird dog to pieces and am so thankful to have found a groomer willing to take a chance on a different kind of situation for my special guy.
