I can't believe someone hasn't Yelped Elliott's - a Danville divebar since 1907. This place has some history... It's still a complete eyesore on the inside, but it has plenty of space for groups looking to get their drink on in advance of a hot night out in Danville. Did I say "hot night out in Danville"? Anyway, you can get all the booze and shufflepuck you want here - they've even got a few TVs to keep the sportsfolk entertained. Elliott's is a part of growing up if you grew up in Danville. It's a bar that's been around since 1906 and a bar that generation after generation goes to when they come home from college and then through the years. Elliot's is a true dive and the walls are lined with representation from every college and sporting team imaginable. The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is perfect for the sleepy town. Elliott's isn't a big bar and probably only holds a hundred or so people. However if you grew up in Danville or live there now, you know or will soon learn that it's a Danville staple. Dive bar is a good description. This place has been around for a while (it shows inside, old rotting wood bar top, smell, etc.). Seems to be a local hang out but not a very good bar. Bottle beers only, no draft. Lots of hard alcohol. Dark interior, loud and not really great service. Cash only too. Won't be back. read more

CASH ONLY! It's amazing that a place like Elliot's exists in Danville. They've survived for over a century as the town went from rural to upscale suburban. It's a true testament to the fact that people can live on the basics: booze and good company. read more

Elliott's typifies everything one would come to love and expect from a Dive Bar - cash only, open hours are not exactly established and the stench of last night's beer hits your nose right as you walk in - fabulous - sign me up for this kinda place any day of the week! Beers are cold and cheap; and the bartenders are no nonsense.....sweet! The Happy Hour crowd here is going to be the "older crew" or possibly the adult softball dudes after practice (ps - where do y'all work that you are already at the bar after a practice and it is barely 5pm?). This bunch is mellow and keeps to themselves while they watch the Giants overhead. During the Summer, expect to see your share of the Gen Y-ers who have returned from school and can "finally" go inside the infamous Elliotts. This crowd can get a bit obnoxious and unable to hold their booze, but nothing the bouncer/bartenders cannot get under control ASAP. And please ladies, this place is a dive....that means...its all good to show up in jeans and a tee....leave your all black business suit for the City, we are not impressed. read more

Great dive bar in downtown Danville! If your sick of the herds of yuppies crawling up and down the sidewalk, you can find find retreat inside here! The crowd is made up for mostly of retirees and widows looking to enjoy their golden years. Fairly small drinks and not much for a beer selection, but cheap! read more

Since I was visiting from out of town, wanted to find a nice local spot to hang out and found this spot actually here on Yelp. I didn't want to deal with the kiddieville yuppie environment. Soooo ...I'm here in the San Francisco area on business from Atlanta, my girlfriend flew up for the weekend and we came across this bar via yelp. We walked in and to my surprise, everyone turned around and looked at us, including the bar tender who didn't speak at all. We walk in, sit at the bar, still no greeting from the bar tender. Now I'm a very educated young man and being from the South, I've seen a "thing or two". I haven't felt that uncomfortable entering an establishment in a very long time. I don't know what is up with the atmosphere there, well everyone there appeared to be very familiar with one another, however, I wouldn't recommend ANY minority to venture into this establishment. I mean it's 2017, but Trump is in the White House and apparently there's "pockets" of foolishness even in blue states like California. *shrugs* read more

This is what a dive bar should be. I've been here only twice. First time it was kind of random and there was a band playing. Fun times and in good company. Second time was recently on a random night w/ the bf wanting to get another drink after our trip to the wine bar (The Vine). This place looks a little intimidating at first but it's very welcoming and the bartender was super nice. We sat at the bar and the whole time I was admiring the ice chest. It's an antique and incredibly beautiful...something I'd want my dream house to have. Anyways....I got a beer and my boyfriend had a redbull vodka. His drink wasn't too great but it's not a redbull vodka kind of place. I learned this when these newly 21 year olds came in and asked for AMFs and all these crazy drinks for their friend. Of course they didn't know what's in an AMF..heck I don't even know...and well, of course this bartender didn't know either. This isn't a place for blue colored drinks and such....not the "lets get so piss ass drunk and have a crazy night" place....it's freakin' Danville, c'mon now. Anyways, after realizing I'm at a good place for some classic drinks I was opting either to have an irish coffee (I saw a coffee pot) or a white russian. I was totally hoping for a white russian since you can't get it everywhere since no bar really carries cream on hand. And low and behold....there was cream and i had my white russian. =) It totally made my night. Overall, come here if you're wandering in Danville and not in the mood to be in a stuffy restaurant or lounge...it's open later than most of the places around. And, keep in mind it's a beer, straight drinks, and classic favorites kind of place. read more

I can't wrap my head around cash only bars...we are in 2011. This place is good for locals and cheap drinks. Don't even think about buying anything from the snack rack because it's probably been sitting there since the bar got built. If you want to listen to music you gotta pay for it....and that's not cheap. Good bar to get loaded at and move on to the next spot but don't forget your cash! read more

We had went in once before but then didn't go back and now I don't know why. Early Friday, after spending $8 for one drink during what should have been happy hour, went next door to Elliot's and spend under $8 for two. Great prices, packed lively bar, pizza bites, a friendly bartender even though she was handling the whole crowd herself, had it totally under control and I found a guy selling farm fresh eggs for $3 a dozen. We will go back, it's what I call an old man bar (local bar with regulars) and I love that. And when I run out of eggs I'll be looking for that farmer. read more

We have always hung out at Elliot's bar for years with no problem, tonight was a different story with bartender Katie. She accused my husband of stealing her A's drinking glasses and got hostile with him bc of this. Seriously... why would we steal her A's drinking glasses?! I think she was super drunk bc she took a shot with me bc it was our bdays...Too bad bc we really enjoyed really our neighborhood bar in Danville. We will no longer attend this bar bc of her! Fun little dive bar, they pour the drinks fairly heavy and the service is normally pretty quick.

My wife and I went in to Elliott's during hot summer nights last Thursday and were treated to the worst attitudes and poorest service I have ever experienced. It's obvious that the male and female bartender on duty that night were not equity partners in the establishment as they were outwardly expressing how upset they were about the crowd and the work associated with serving the patrons. After about 10 minutes the female bartender greeted my wife and I by telling us we were going to have to wait a long time to be served and we should go to a different bar. The male bartender eventually got around to asking my wife what she wanted and then chastised her for not responding to him quickly enough. Before you go there, neither one of us had had a single drink and were genuinely in a good mood and conveying the same throughout our wait. We were not in a hurry, we were enjoying ourselves and understood that the crowd meant we were going to have to wait to be served. I corrected the bartender for being abrupt with my wife and he explained that he was joking and would be right back and then sarcastically instructed my wife to be prepared to order her drink upon his return after he served another patron. After watching him serve several more patrons and standing behind the bar doing nothing but commiserating with the other bartender about the crowd, he walked by us once again without a glance or acknowledgment. That was all I could take and I told my wife it was time to go. The two ladies that were patiently waiting behind us slid into our spot. I was walking towards the door when a women walked in and moved in beside the two ladies that had moved in where I was sitting with my wife. The male bartender reappeared from the other side of the bar and asked the new women what she would like to drink. The ladies who had been patiently waiting protested politely and let him know that they had been waiting. The bartender shook his finger in the ladies face and told her to stop whining in a loud and aggressive tone. At this point I snapped and let him have it. I have never witnessed so much hostility being conveyed towards paying patrons. I have never experienced this type of service and have never written a review in my life. It is my hope that the owner will read this review and take corrective action. I doubt that Elliott's is a problem most of the time, but I do believe it shows extremely poor judgment to have two people working during such a busy event who are so ill equipped to handle the pressure of high volume service. Probably a nice place when the barterers can enjoy a nice leisurely pace. read more

Cool little bar in Danville. I never thought I'd actually hang out in Danville, but this place was cool.. cheap drinks, mid-20's to early 30's crowd on the night we went. I didn't experience this, but I would assume Danville police would be swarming around this place towards midnight or as people are leaving. read more

Alright. This was officially my least favorite bar experience yet. Whoever worked the night shift on Sunday, Dec. 23rd was the most unprofessional and rude person I've had to put up with. She gave everyone in my group an annoyed tone from the first moment we got there. It seemed like whatever was wrong in her day, she was deciding to take out on us for no apparent reason. Literally, everyone in my group turned to each other and said something along the lines of "What just happened?" after experiencing her rude tone. The place was way too packed and everyone around us was making for a negative setting so we left. Nice to know I won't be wasting any money at Elliott's now, or ever. How do you NOT love this place?? It is what it is. A GREAT dive bar. But not skeevy, dicey or scary. The people are so friendly. The owner is so nice and a great bartender. When I think of Danville, I think of Elliot's. A cash only neighborhood bar with stiff drinks at a great price. I've been here from everything from birthdays to memorials to reunions. I wouldn't change a thing about this place. Whenever I'm here I can run into friends, friend's parents, or friend's grandparent's. Yeah there is only one beer on draft, but you don't come here for craft beers. There are video games, shuffle board, and a juke box. read more

Went here for my 21st birthday and we had so much fun!! Kate or Katie ( don't remember but it was my 21st birthday after all) was super nice and accommodating and went above and beyond for us. It was a Monday night and there was a nice flow of people coming and going. We loved the history behind everything and she took extra time to tell us all about it! We will totally be back. read more

A great dive bar, one of the best i have even been at. its a break from the tanned skinned, botox injected divorced cougars in danville. The Bartenders will poor you a strong drink and have a good conversation with you. Best part is that drinks range from 3.25-4 for the house liquor drinks to about 7-8 for the expensive stuff (patron). really have to stop by and check it out read more

Awesome overall experience. We are from southern Wisconsin and were in town for the Packer/49er game. The bartenders, Andy and Chris, provided good service and treated us like we were locals. We had so much Friday night that we returned on Saturday night. The band, Kid Dynamite, that performed on Saturday night was outstanding. We will be back the next time we are in town. read more
