She asked if i wanted spice i said yes assuming it would be jalapeños or yellow peppers but its some kind of sauce or salsa because i didnt see any peppers yet the spice was there and with a bit of a kick. Hands down the best sandwich shop in the area! This was a staple for me precovid, came here all the time as they were across the street from my old office building after Covid. My office building moved and we were relocated about 2 miles away sure enough today I was craving sandwiches and I typed it into the search bar on yelp and this place popped up. I was immediately so happy and filled with joy that this place was still around the service. Here is fantastic and the owners are the absolute nicest people. I highly highly recommend coming here today. I had an egg salad sandwich, hot Cheetos and a Diet Coke and my order total came out to 13 bucks. You can't beat that anywhere around the area for that price. The egg sandwich is so delicious and it is completely filled and pouring over the sides. They are very generous with their serving sizes. Ordered a Turkey sandwich and spicy ramen chicken noodle soup. The sandwich is well constructed. There are different options of bread but they toast it and it comes out warm and crunchy. The fillings are generous with lots of Turkey and veggies and it's pretty robust. They also give a side of pickles and peppers. The ramen soup is spicy and has a distinct flavor...the broth uses spices I am not accustomed to but it taste good. There are different vegetables in the soup and the noodle is more like a crispy rice noodle. The owners are a pleasant couple and make sure you feel very welcome. After driving by this place a few times finally decided to check it out. Definitely a small mom and pop shop as the food here reminds me sandwiches my mom would make for me when I was a kid. It is a very home made vibe as the sandwiches here taste fresh as well as fast too. Pastrami sandwich was pretty good as there was a good amount of meat for the sandwich. What really took it for me was the sushi. They have two kinds, cali roll and spicy tuna and man I was impressed with what I got. I mean I got low standards for sushi but I was pretty happy with what was offered. I will probably get a 4 pc cali roll as my guilty pleasure each time I come by. I had the Black Forest sandwich on an onion roll, with the bun toasted. It was yummy! It's a simple sandwich, but made very well. I liked it so much, I'm going back tomorrow! This spot is my go to for a homemade food feeling, although I probably will not make it as good at home as they do. The sandwiches are always fresh and come with a slice of pickle and yellow pepper (banana pepper) on the side. The owners are very sweet and welcoming. Make you feel at home! I continue to come here continuously since day 1. As we all know COVID hit hard and made it harder for small businesses to adjust but Elm Tree has adjusted to policy. There is yet to be delivery but you can always phone in your order and pick it up, they get on it right away. They accept CC/Debit & Cash. For an affordable sandwich spot in commerce (4/5 stars). The place is a hole in the wall with decor from the 1980s but the prices are low and the sandwich I had was good. For around $5 you get a homemade style sandwich with a side of chips, pickle spear, and peppercini. They also have 1/2 sandwich and soup for around the same price. The staff was very friendly and I got the impression of having a friend's mom making me a sandwich as a child from this place. I had the number 1 treehouse special and it hit the spot. Lots of meat, fresh veggies, and it didn't leave me with an unhealthy vibe after. Will definitely return to try another sandwich and soup. read more

They gave me the job to find a healthy place in the E.LA area. Been to Tony's and Frumento's but needed these sandwiches at 9 AM as this is their 2nd breakfast (they start work at 4 AM). Appreciate the hours here and the small business vibe. Bought 3 sandwiches: turkey, club, and chicken. Owner added avocados for free which was a nice touch. This place is not going to knock your socks off with it's menu or decor. With that being said, what Elm Tree has to offer is a homelike luncheon experience. Soups and sanwiches the way mom makes them. The food is served on styrofoam plates and containers which add to the experience. The lone employee there when I visited today greated me with a big smile and directed me to the menu board. I love the names for the sandwiches like the one I ordered which was the "Workmen's Comp." This consisted of warm pastrami, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, mustard, on a soft roll. I can't emphasize how crucial that last bit is, a SOFT roll. Not some tough as nails roll that has dried out on the counter. This bread was flaky and crumptious. The pastrami was nice and salty and it was served with a pickle spear and two yellow chili peppers. A side of potato salad, fresh fruit, or a bag of chips (your choice with each order) plus a soda for like $5!! It's the kind of sandwich you would make to take to work if you didn't wake up late. Simple food at an honest price. What else can you ask for? I think I just found my new favorite lunch spot. read more
