I was going to see a ballet with my mother and upon heading home it started pouring and was difficult to see while driving. We decided to stop for food and pulled up to this quiet little restaurant. It wasn't all that spectacular appearance wise. The food was pretty good. Room for improvement but over all I was pretty happy with it. What really made the experience amazing was our server Rex. He made my whole night. Said he was new on the job but he was cheerful and helpful and polite. A refreshing sense of humor and a good attitude. I would not paid this place much mind but thanks to Rex I will defiantly be eating here again. A true asset to the Restaurant, I tip my hat to him. read more

THE MIRADE OF CHOICES ON THE MENU MAKES FOR A LOT OF INDECISION, BUT THE END RESULT OF DECIDING IS WONDERFUL, PLENTIFUL FOOD! IF you're an avocado lover, as I am, I was super happy about ALL the choices available; ever heard of an Avocado Benedict? It's a keeper when they're out of crab benedict because of the crab season being closed. NO canned crab for this kitchen! The chicken, avocado, tomato, cheese sandwich was HUGE, on a lightly toasted, nice soft roll with lots of tender chicken breast chunks, not thin little slices. The outside hanging baskets of flowers were nothing short of gorgeous. The manager was a pleasant & informative fellow who was definitely there to talk with & make his customers comfortable & presented us with a MUCH APPRECIATED coupon when we were asking about some older cupons we thought we might still have from previous years stops @Elmers. It's wonderful to know that wherever we are along the western part of CA, OR or WA, we KNOW where we'll find a great meal @ a reasonable price, & usually have enough left over for another ELMERS NIGHT! This Elmers is kind enough to split their benedicts for take out for us Seniors who have smaller appetites. It's kind of a routine, after having starved for 1/2 the day for medical procerdures, to swing by & treat ourselves to one of the wonderful benedicts. Elmer's has long been a favorite. I always stop in when I'm in town! If you've never been to Elmer's, it's like going to Target instead of Walmart. So we're talking a better class of all-American food. The first things I noticed was the very clean rugs as I walked in. We were greeted and seated right away. The waitress was polite and courteous. She checked on us several times. We opted for breakfast fare on this trip. Elmer's provides some awesome sandwiches though (I love the prime rib dip!). Food was delicious. The only reason I don't rate 5 stars is because I do feel it's overpriced. If money is tight, you're better off at a Denny's or IHOP. read more

I have eaten at Elmers many times and have a good experience. This the first time at this location. First, the service was very good. They sat me right away, brought my coffee quickly and took my order in a timely manor. As for my breakfast, my eggs were cold when I got them. Not warm, but cold. The hash browns were raw and luke warm once you got past the crust formed by the grill. I mentioned it to the waitress who nicely offered to bring me another plate, but by then it was to late. She did discount my meal, which I appreciated. I know things happen and I will try this location again, but it is hard to screw up eggs and hashbrowns. read more

Poor service: The waitress came by the table when we were seated, then to bring us our food, never once came back to fill a glass, and then to bring us the check. Rude management: First of all, the food was cold, not ever close to what was advertised seeing how the menu was not changed to specify that the meat being served in the sandwich was now diced instead of a whole chicken breast, mostly to hide the fact that they changed the portion by nearly half. When confronted about this fact alone the manager acted as if he was personally offended by the fact that i didn't want to eat it, let alone when i mentioned that it was cold he basically told me that there was nothing that he could (I.E. that he would) do about it. After offering me a different item from the menu (Which also came to the table cold) i finally told him i wasn't paying for anything and that i would simply go next door to the burger king, at least i know what i'm getting there and i know it will be hot, they at least know how to use a microwave. I will say he did attempt to make it better by giving the entire table a free meal cu-pond for our next visit. However when we returned (thinking that maybe it was just a one time random shenanigan, we were let down yet again.) Needless to say we will never be stopping here again. REPEAT horrible service. REPEAT horrible cold food that wasn't what we expected when we ordered it. REPEAT horrible excuses from staff INCLUDING management. This location gets 1 star only because i can't give it a -5. We LOVE Elmer's and we have been frequent patrons but this location can't seem to get anything right. Was seated right away and served coffee and water. Despite not being busy the waitress took about 10 minutes before she came around for my order. We dropped in for breakfast Sunday morning after going to Breakfast at Valeries and the wait was too long. I have been to Elmers before and it has been OK but this time it was not good, AT ALL. They were crazy busy this morning we my boyfriend and I sat in the bar area. The waitress was wonder but she was so busy that the service suffered. Out of the 6 tables in there, 3 of them had comped meals from the manager because of the food (either cold, didn't come out fast ect). Our meal came out but it was not good. It too was cold, seemed like it was just thrown on the plate. We asked for ketchup and after 15 min we had to ask again. We didn't complain about the food because honestly we had stuff to do and didn't have time to wait around for new food. I heard the manager say on several occasions (to other customers) that they were overwhelmed this morning because people came in before the normal "busy time". In this kind of situation, the manager should be going to every table apologizing for the wait vs just going to the tables of people that have complained. We will be more likely to wait the extra time at Valeries then come back to Elmers. *Note: I received a message from the store manager at this Elmers and he offered us a meal to make up for the poor meal that we received. We have not been back yet to try again but I will update when we do. Hopefully they exceed our expectations. read more

I really like eating beef, so I was thrilled to discover Elmer's on Mill Plain, tucked in next to I-205. Now mentally, I've always associated Elmer's as being for elderly people living on social security, so I was a bit nervous about what I would find inside in terms of food quality. As it turned out, their prime rib dinner is an excellent choice and I've returned a few times after my initial visit. I haven't had anything other than the prime rib, so I can't tell you about their breakfasts or other menu items. But it's worth the visit for affordable prime rib if you're in the area. Each time I've visited, I've been greeted quickly and promptly seated. Drinks are provided quickly. The dinner arrives promptly and the prime rib is tender, juicy, and cooked as requested (medium-rare for me!). The baked potato is hot, which is important, as a luke-warm potato is not acceptable. The staff is friendly and keeps my drink topped off. So, if you're craving prime rib and don't want to spend a lot of money, Elmer's on SE Mill Plain is the place to check out. Sure, you can go to a more expensive restaurant, but the prime rib won't be better and you'll pay a lot more. read more

Been here visiting for little over a week. Decided to go out to breakfast and came across Elmers. Best breakfast we've had since we've been here. Not only was the food amazing but the staff was as well. My 10 month old son was just not having it. He was crying and kicking around, my boy was grumpy. A huge THANK YOU goes to the manager Dan. Out of no where my son stops fussing. As I turn to see what or who he was looking at I noticed this guy, he was the type that had fun and great personality written all over, starts walking up in a playful manner with a bright orange balloon on a stick. You might notice that I tend to review places in the burbs a bit. I live in the burbs so for ease of wholesome food I tend to frequent these pseudo corporate style spots. So what's good at Elmer's? THE LOUNGE!!! This is a place that time forgot about. Everything in this tiny little secret, attached to the main restaurant is straight out of the 80's and in a good way. I have been here a few times during various holidays when all the family is together and we need a table for 12. So far out of the dozen or more times I have eaten there in the last few years, I have never been disappointed. The last time I had breakfast there was the day after Christmas and I had the German sausage and eggs. I thought the sausage went well with eggs. Their service can vary from time to time depending on how crowded they are but that's to be expected. They do keep the coffee cups and water full without having to ask. My last trip was just for two so seating was quick. If I had to compare it to something down here in California I would say Elmer's is a notch or two higher than Denny's. It's not five star dining but it's a step up from a diner. I will probably continue to eat there when I am up to visit. read more

Elmer's is a lot better than I expected. I'm staying in a motel close by, so the girlfriend and I decided to have a stroll over here to get some breakfast food for dinner. We were seated very quickly, and our drink orders were taken and fulfilled within the first five minutes of our visit. When we finally decided on food, we ordered the bacon avocado burger, French toast, and eggs Benedict. The bacon avocado burger was a mean burger. There was loads of avocado and thick bacon with a nice layer of provolone cheese. Moving forward, the French toast was fantastic. It seemed to be thick sourdough bread with powdered sugar on top with a mound of butter and a pretty cup of syrup on the side. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Finally, the eggs Benedict was beautiful, but...the hollandaise sauce didn't taste like the nice thick and tangy hollandaise I've come to love. It was more like melted butter poured over the top. It wasn't bad, it was really good actually, it just wasn't hollandaise. That's the only reason I give Elmer's four stars, but everything else was great. Our service was amazing. We had constant refills and our server was very timely. If you're staying in the hotels and motels along the highway side over here, come try this place, it's really cozy and comforting. read more

I don't usually write reviews but since I found this place on yelp I thought I should share my experience. First off I wasn't sure we would stay as there were a lot of people waiting in the front and I have a 2 year old who is impatient. However we only waited about 15 min. The service was exceptional. Drinks right away and the food came out fast! My son got a balloon airplane which he loved. The balloon artist could pretty much make ANYTHING. And he did for every single kid in the resturaunt. I used to come her a lot as a kid, but have only been two or three times within the last year. I've yet to have a bad experience. The servers are awesome, the food is consistent and the environment is comfortable.
