Here we go again. First of all, I am an 82 year old woman. A few months ago my husband and I were banned from Elmers because I complained several times about a waitress that bathed herself in perfume. Since then she has been fired (for who knows what) Some put up deal probably. Anyway we went there this morning to see a friend. Bret (the manager) smiled and said good morning. We spoke to our friend, then was asked by Brett to go to the lounge with him. We did. He then proceeded to tell us that we had to leave. He wouldn't let us walk back through the restaurant, wanted us to go out the back door. I refused so he called the police to have us escorted out.. What a business!! read more

This Elmers has everything I've come to expect at this local NW chain. Super friendly staff, great service and good basic food. I usually visit for breakfast. The German pancake is delicious. Most diners don't bother with them so I appreciate it. Their eggs and pancakes, not to mention service, are much better than IHOP or Sharis. Had a great meal at the SE Mill Plain Elmer's in Vancouver. Both the food and servers were great. The menu has a wide variety and those in our party all enjoyed the different meals we ordered. Even the grandkids ate all of their meals. I had the Elmer's Omelette, a common order for me, and it was great as usual. read more

Elmer's is a good place to go if you are feeling like breakfast. The kids love it because there are crayons and coloring sheets. Service is pretty quick and dependable. Sure, there are more exciting brunch places around but this works if you don't feel like standing in a line. read more

LOVE the breakfasts here. Great place for families with kids. One of the few places where the grandkids actually eat all of their food. Come on the weekends and the kids can get a balloon creature made to order. Longest we have hade to wait on a busy weekend is 15 minutes. Coffee is strong but good. First time at Elmer's so the hostess actually gave us a $10 certificate to use on our next trip along with a takeout menu and a letter. That was so thoughtful! Our first server was very attentive. Food was delicious, had the Veggie/Avocado Benedict thing with hash browns and finished the whole plate, good quality ingredients. We also had the bacon burger with fries which tasted fresh. This is definitely a few steps above a Dennys or Ihop. I did notice the prices were a little higher but really didn't have complaints since the food/service was excellent. read more

I had the best lunch here today. It was my first time at Elmer's and I went with the waffle combo w/ biscuits and gravy. The bacon was some of the best bacon I've ever had and there was enough of it to feed two people. Leagues better than the kind of bacon you usually see. The biscuits and gravy were also very, very good and I could have finished off a few plates of them. ..... now I'm thinking about them again.... anyway! The fresh waffle was the finale. My family and friends (a group of about 20) came here for lunch following my uncle's graveside funeral service (and just prior to his church memorial). We called ahead and made a reservation for 12 but they were able to accommodate our much larger group upon arrival. The staff was ready for us and extremely accommodating and prepared to expand the space by adding additional tables so everyone would have space. They brought out complimentary Swedish pancakes and took our order. It couldn't have been more than 15-20 minutes before all ~20 entrees were brought out at once. Stopped in here for breakfast with the wife. We had a feeling that the portions would be huge and we were right. We let the server know we planned on splitting a meal and not only was this recurved well but the kitchen also plated us individually so we didn't have to sho el from one plate to another. After our first TERRIBLE experience, of which I reviewed, the manager sent us a certificate for a free meal if we chose to go back. One night we really wanted prime rib, so we gave Elmer's a second chance. The service wasn't terrible, but my fiance's prime rib was overcooked. He ate it and didn't make a fuss. My prime rib was also overcooked and I DID make a fuss, I was not going to accept mediocre food. Unfortunately I didn't get a choice in that. Another prime rib was made for me and it was RAW in the middle. Medium rare isn't that hard to get people! I ate around the edges of this one and left hungry. The staff was going to comp our meal, but we had the certificate. I emailed the manager instead of coming here, but I got NOTHING in return. We have not been back since, and it would take a lot to convince us to go back. Such a shame, as they had always given us good food prior to these visits. read more

First off the customer service was really bad by our server. The host was sweet and nice but the server was such a rude person. She didn't engage, didn't fill our water cups and it's sad because that's all she has to do. She doesn't cook the food. She doesn't sit us down at a table. Her main job is to take our order and fill our cups. What really got me is when we ask for syrup because she forgot to give us any with the German pancake. The way she looked at us when we ask was so disrespectful. Like forgive me for asking for something that comes with the meal I'm paying for. To start, I love the food here. Had the German Pancake and an omelette, both were exactly what I've come to expect, delicious. Wait times on food are long enough for you to wonder where you food is at but not to the point of disgruntled irritation. My main issue is our service. The GM- Greg Vantress needs to talk to his staff about Customer Service. We got there shortly after their busy period, but the tables around us were empty. Our waitress however being was really pushy. And pushy to the point were it was off putting as if we, as paying customers were some sort of inconvenience. We ended up with a box only halfway through our meal and never once got a refill of water. read more

The high quality of food and exceptional service make Elmer's my favorite restaurant in the Vancouver area. How much do I like Elmer's? This week I am facing stomach surgery and will not eat solid food again for at least two months. If the surgery goes badly, this could literally be my last meal. Went to Elmer's with a party of 7 with 3 and a half adults and 3 and a half kids I had never been to Elmer's before and it was packed. That's usually a good sign. I ordered the Ruben sandwich after my sister in law pointed it out on the menu (knowing how much I like Reuben's). The sandwich arrived and I ate a couple fries while the rest of the party received there food. As we all prepared to eat I look down at my "Reuben" and all I saw there was turkey on marble rye bread. Confused, I waited for an appropriate time to get the server's attention I asked her why there was turkey instead of corned beef on my "Reuben". The server told me that the corned beef was under the turkey. I lifted the the turkey (witch doesn't belong on a Reuben) to reveal a slice of corned beef. The server asked if I wanted another and told her I would was going to eat it because I was hungry. I didn't want wait any longer while everyone else was eating. At this point I had eaten all my fries so the server informed me they had bottomless fries and if I'd like some. I told the server I'd would love some. The only thing that came after that was the check . On the way out I took another look at the menu with the picture of the Reuben with corned beef stacked sky high, not seeing any turkey. The menu's discretion said there was turkey on the "Reuben" but all I had was a turkey sandwich without the bottomless the fries the sever had offered. All in all it was a pretty good $12 turkey sandwich. read more

Elmer's is one of our favorite go to places for really good food with a variety to choose from any time of the day. They have amazing breakfasts. My personal favorite, German Pancakes. They are amazing. We've also been there for lunch and dinner. They have really great salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Everything there is tasty! The thing that I truly love MOST is their staff. Their servers are the kindest people. We have a daughter with special needs and they always treat us like royalty. They truly will accommodate us in anything we need without even asking. We feel like we can enjoy our meal comfortably without any stress in times where we sometimes have a hard time in public with our daughter. Travis at the Mill Plain location is the very best. He remembers us and checks in to see how we are doing. The manager always comes around and says hi as well. This is a very wonderful family restaurant. I don't know how to rate this visit honestly, when I first entered, frankly, I nearly turned around and left, the place looks TIRED, yes the 70's called, they don't want it back.... It took them a few minutes to wrap of their personal conversation and seat me... (btw saying "just one" is hurtful to a widower) try one tonight... Anyway I got my beverage promptly, it took a bit longer than it should have to come back and take my order.... She did, it seemed to take longer than it should have to get my food (the place was fairly empty) once the food was delivered, that was it, asked for ketchup, never came, had to get my own off another table, never got a refill on my beverage until she came with the check.... Now, this is why this review was hard to write, the food WAS good, without a doubt but the poor service and tired atmosphere hurt my opinion of the place.... Here is a hint, the customer should never have to go without, get their own ketchup or wait while the service staff holds a conversation (in view of the customers)... This was our 3rd or 4th visit. My daughters loves it because there is balloon man. Breakfast menu is good but how hard to cook eggs and hash brown. so this time i asked sever if fish is previously frozen and answer was yes so why would i pay when i am not even getting fresh ingredient. This is the best Elmer's in the world. It seems to attract outstanding managers. The staff is always wonderful. The food is to die for. It is immaculate and beautifully kept up. Even the plants outside are gorgeous. It can be a challenge getting to it off of 205 during rush hours, but it is worth it. read more
