They were so accommodating when I was running late to pick up our cake. Kind, friendly, and always answered the phone. I would recommend calling your order in instead of emailing or online. We got a 1/4 strawberry shortcake cake for a birthday. I'm not at all a desserts person because if it's too sweet and not balanced I don't like it, BUT THEIR CAKE WAS PERFECT!!! I have to give Elvin's Bakery props because of their tiramisu cake. I haven't tried anything else so I can't speak for their pastries but the cake was stunningly beautiful! For $33, the price wasn't bad especially considering the decorations came with lots of cocoa powder, fresh strawberries and blueberries, and white chocolate name piece decoration. It serves about 8-10 slices. I even was able to order the cake the day of for pick up. I'm personally not the biggest tiramisu fan but it's my mom's favorite. So I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the flavor! The cake itself is light and not dense and the frosting is airy. I didn't feel like it was overly sweet either. The only thing I would imagine a true tiramisu fan would complain about is that the coffee/rum flavor wasn't strong. My dad picked up the cake for me and reported that the staff was super friendly. He told me he was eyeing out the moon cakes there so I might have to update the review when we get some. read more

Went in for a birthday cake. Left with a Japanese cheesecake. It was the perfect combination of fluffy/dense texture. It also wasn't too sweet. We were looking for another alternative for a birthday cake for my mom. Every time we have a family birthday we always have the same cake, which always seemed to have some kind of chocolate in it. Well, recently I've been trying to eat less chocolate. I have that heart palpitation thing happen to me when I eat too much. I know it's a shame. Anyways, I looked on Yelp and I found Elvin's Bakery. The pastries and cakes that they have there looked so fancy. My sister works in Kalihi and her business always buys cakes for their employees their when it's their birthday. I saw the Strawberry Shortcake and I just wanted to order from there. It was something totally different from what we normally order and it had no chocolate. Woo Hoo! It was a win-win. I ordered it a day ahead and it was ready and personalized when I got there. When I went to pick it up I was surprised at how clean the place was. Everything was very organized and easy to find. The pictures on Yelp really showed the variety of breads and pastries they have. Because it was so clean and bright in there, it made me look around and see what else I could get. I read that their scones are really good so I got two of those, and I also got Hokkaido sweet bread. The scone was okay. I guess I like my scones more moist. This one was a little dry for my taste. I really like the Hokkaido sweet bread. The top was drizzled with sugar which made it extra tasty. We ate those up in no time. It was definitely a good bread to eat in the morning for breakfast. Over all Elvin's is a great bakery to try if you want to try something different. I would definitely go back there. I guess the only thing would be that it's a little pricey for the cake. Elvin's bakery is Asian/chinese style bakery on Dillingham. I would go there more often except it's out of my way. It's located across street from Chuck E. Cheese's. I think the place is called Kapalama Center. It's the same area as Zippy's. Parking is plentiful. This center has been renovated so it's nice and clean. I like their cakes. They have mango, lilikoi, lychee, dream etc. Their cakes are made with chiffon and mousse style which are very light. I did get single pieces of the cake and I can tell it wasn't made on the same day. Most people can't tell but I can because I have some bakery experience. They also have yummy pastries you can choose. One of my favorite is their Hokkaido bun. It's a plain round bun with lightly sweet coated on the top. As for their service, it's okay. They don't ask if you need help or sell you more things. The shop is nice and clean. read more

Tiny bakery located in the heart of Dillingham. It's a couple doors down from Zippy's and Palama Supermarket. I particularly enjoy the cakes inside the glass case. I've tried a lot of them, but my favorite is the mango one! (see photo^) It looks heavy, but the texture is actually soft and light. The strawberry shortcake is so light & airy the fruits are freshly glazed but not overwhelmingly sweet, the chocolate just melts in your mouth & it comes in a really cute packaging you just have to try it. I've also tried the tiramisu cake & Im not really a fan but if you love coffee & chocolate then it's for you. Theirs lots of parking because it's in a little shopping plaza, the owners are friendly. Part of the new dillingham complex, Elvin's bakery is a popular one and seems to get great reviews. I don't really see the appeal but I am guessing that people just like it because it is one of the nicer bakeries in the Kalihi area, although that's not really saying all that much. I tried a lot of the popular items including the mango cake, the lychee cake, a macadamia flake bar and a blueberry cream cheese scone. I thought the cakes were just a bit too spongy and flavorless. The pastries were also on the dry side without much flavor either. Overall, I didn't think anything was that great here and "I've experienced better". read more

I've gotten a couple cakes from here for multiple occasions, and they were all good, but none have wowed me till today. The Red Velvet cake is possibly the best Red Velvet I've ever had! And I've eaten a lot of Red Velvet cakes in my life! I called this morning, and asked if I could get a Red Velvet for my mom's birthday. I needed it for that afternoon and it was no problem! This place must be terribly inconsistent because I walked in to pick up my cake and a mid age man was just casually chatting on the phone. He makes eye contact, glares, continues talking.
