Had a really frictionless and painless sale of our Subaru Crosstrek here. Highly recommend. Here's…read morehow it went: -I went to CARMAX website and punched in my VIN # and a few details about miles and condition. They gave me a competitive quote. -I scheduled an appointment to sell it. -I arrived at the appointment. They checked out the car and gave me a check for the quoted price. -We were out of there in about 35 minutes total. Easy peasy. No hassles. No bait and switch. No haggling. So nice.

It had a few very minor scratches that were documented. I inspected the car first thing and it looked good and I asked to take it out for a drive and we began some paperwork to make it happen. The salesperson pulled the SUV into a receiving area for my test drive. While getting in, I noticed multiple vertical deep scratches on the driver's side door I hadn't noticed when I did my preliminary walkaround inspection just 20 minutes earlier. They were actually more serious than any of the minor documented scratches disclosed when the vehicle was shipped so I didn't understand how they could have been missed. I mentioned it to the sales rep upon return and was promptly dismissed. He didn't seem concerned at all and urgently ran off to return the car to the secure lot. Maybe they became more noticeable from the different lighting and direct sunlight. He mentioned later that he had trouble putting the lockbox back on the window because it kept rolling back down while he was trying to resecure it in the full up position. The plastic wind guard trim didn't help, Im sure. Apparently the car was detecting the lockbox as an obstruction as if there was a finger in the way triggering it to fully retract as a safety feature automatically, taking the lockbox down with it. I didn't think much about his comment at first, but put it all together after the fact. When the window was rolled down, the heavy lockbox Carmax struggled to hang on the window glass scratched the door...multiple times as they were fussing with it. The scratches are vertically aligned and exactly below where the lockbox was. Most scratches are horizontal, so these were odd looking. They weren't disclosed in the car listing because the car was most likely damaged in the care of Carmax after I paid to have it shipped. Since I am already into the car for shipping costs, no matter what I do, even if I return it, I'm out at least the $800 I sunk in shipping. So even walking away would be really expensive. The 2023 SUV only had 5K miles on it. Now I own it, and it looks like hell. I'm actually ill over this for not being more assertive. They ruined a really great SUV and stuck me with their sloppy damage and negligence. It looks like it was aggressively keyed. What I ordered and shipped, wasn't what I got. Now I get to drive it around, potentially for years, looking like someone who gets their car keyed. BUYER BEWARE. Don't give Carmax ANY money in advance. Don't have a car shipped. Just wait for the right one to pop up locally. Before you drive away, do a final inspection and match up any damage with what was originally disclosed.

Autos Of Portland - Blown head gasket on 2nd day with Brandon's best car?

Brandon told me that there was a titling delay and basically saying that I will get it when you get it and TS. otherwise. I cannot sell it nor legally drive it in the state of Oregon until this has been resolved. Do not buy from this guy, he is dishonest and prideful and there is absolutely no customer service after the sale. Brandon stated to me that 99% of the cars that he sales do not come with title-in-hand, so is it worth the hassle of not knowing ? -Updated info says that there will be a sixty day delay in receiving my title and I cannot sell it or legally drive it in Oregon (A licensed dealer cannot legally sell a car without the title in hand, as it's often a violation of state law and consumer protection, but it happens due to processing delays (like bank payoffs or out-of-state transfers). While some states allow temporary sales with proper documentation (like a Power of Attorney or surety bond), selling without a title risks significant penalties for the dealer (fines, license loss) and leaves the buyer unable to register the car, leading to potential fraud claims and legal action against the dealer.) I am following this up by filing a complaint with the Oregon state DMV fraud division and The Oregon State Attorneys consumer fraud desk.

If you value your time, your wallet, or your sanity, stay far away from Vancouver Toyota. Lack of Expertise For a dealership, their lack of basic automotive knowledge is staggering. I went in with specific concerns, and it felt like I was explaining vehicle mechanics to people who had never seen an engine before. They are quick to suggest expensive "fixes" without actually diagnosing the root cause. It's clear they prioritize sales over actual mechanical competence. Management Issues The leadership here is where the real problems start: * Chance (Manager): I have never encountered a manager so unprofessional. Chance is an absolute bully who defaults to being rude and condescending the moment you ask a follow-up question. Instead of de-escalating issues, he uses intimidation tactics to shut customers down. * Lori (Customer Relations Manager): You'd think the person in charge of "relations" would have a shred of empathy, but Lori was even worse. She talks down to customers like they're a nuisance. During our interaction, it was painfully obvious she was more concerned about clocking out and getting off work than actually resolving my problem. Final Verdict The culture here is toxic. From the service bay to the front office, there is a complete disregard for customer care. They don't want to help you; they just want you to pay up and go away so they can go home. Save yourself the headache--go literally anywhere else.
