Do not waste your time. They gave me a gel set when I did not ask for it unfortunately I've never received it so did not realize what she was doing and then claimed I should have known...and that acrylic nails are only done with gel...no it is not. Charged $15 to file my nails when both hands are not even...after the third time of asking her to make it even I just gave up. They don't speak English which makes it difficult to communicate, was charged way more than I should have been. Waste of 2 hours read more

I went here because I needed a pedicure quickly while on my way to somewhere else. Totally random and not my usual place, but they did an amazing job, had a great selection of colors, and it was over a month ago and my nails still look good! There used to be a real estate office in this location, just off Alton Rd. on 9th, and they were terrible at doing my nails. I joke. This place opened up mere jaunts from my new apartment and caused me to spend more in a couple months than I usually do all year on nail care. It was so fun :) And my nails looked great. Here's my reco, if I can be so forward: Regular Mani Gel Polish Pedi. The Gel nail polish never seems to last without chipping on my nails for more than a week (it will last imperfectly for several weeks, but I like bold colors so it's more visible). But using the gel polish on the toes -- GENIUS. I had a perfect pedicure that lasted nearly a month. It would have lasted even longer, but I actually just got tired of the color and wanted a change. I get antsy if I have to sit for both mani/pedi back to back, so i was in a rush last time around and they just sic'd two technicians on me to do my nails while the other took care of the toes. I made a same-day appointment for the $40 Mini Mani/Pedi and -- to quote Eve -- I think I've found my new favorite nail place! The service was fantastic. They were ready for me the moment I arrived for my appointment, they had the latest Essie and OPI shades and the treatment was so good I couldn't believe it was the "mini" -- soak, shaping, cuticle care, moisturizing and perfect polish for both fingers and toes. Clean and bright with plenty of stations (and very intense massage chairs -- may skip that part next time) it's everything a girl needs to stay pretty -- at the perfect price. HUGE FAN! I went today for my first pedicure after my move from Texas. If you know anything about Texas, there are more nail salons than starbucks...so I consider myself an expert in this field! 1). Great decor. The music was hip and not loud. The massage chairs were the best I havee ever sat in, and the decor was minimalistic and relaxing, 2). Great, great, great mani pedi! Eva, the technician I had, was awesome! Polish looks great and she even scrubbed at my feet with a smile on her face if you can even imagine... 3). They have GEL NAILS! If you are a big fan of a manicure, but hate that it chips in a week and are deathly afraid of the drill, the gel nail is for you! I can get mine to last for 3+ weeks; no chipping. somehow manicures in chicago and miami are cheaper than in milwaukee, wisconsin. WISCONSIN. every thing is cheap here. except nail services. i do not understand. anyway, i took advantage of a $35 mani/pedi deal on a recent visit to miami. i wish i remembered her name, but the technician was fantastic. i've never had anyone trim that much from my cuticles, and it didn't hurt at any point. my nails looked great - the manicure started chipping 4 days in, to be expected for regular polish, and the pedi lasted a good 2 weeks. call ahead to make an appointment, a few walk-ins got turned away because the place was full. they have the typical massage chairs when you're getting a pedi. except, there's a weird feature that makes it feel like someone is punching you... from the seat... i couldn't figure out how to turn it off, so it was an awkward few minutes there. read more

First and foremost, request Lena! She has magical hands and was for sure sent by the manicure gods to Miami (actually she's from Russia with love). This quaint little nail salon tucked away on Alton Road was a place that I was hesitant to go to. For starters, their gel manicures (the two week+ ones) will run you $45! 45?! Say whaaaat? Yes $45. Anyways, I decided to try it out because the cheaper than average pedi prices made up for it. I was able to make an appointment for an hour after I called (for two) and I'm so glad that I did as after a short while they were turning down walk-ins left and right! The place got packed! The salon itself is cute...it's small and there's a lot of purple going on but it's very relaxing (no bright poppy colors, etc.). The selection of gel manicure colors is definitely the most extensive and yet unique in all of South Florida (well, I am only comparing this to the nail salons that I have been, and that's quite a lot) Lena was my manicurist and she was very attentive to detail. She didn't even have to go back and touch anything up. The manicures that I have been getting lately have been a little sloppy until the polish and I leave with a great polish job so I usually am satisfied but I leave with dirt under my nails, etc. Lena made sure to get everything out from underneath my nails without me even asking her and gave me a real MANICURE before the polish. I'm from NYC and am used to getting my nails done on a weekly basis and had never caught anything (i.e., got sick from regularly going to a nail salon). I have been getting eye brow waxes from them and early this year, noticed a new growth by my eye brow. Having never had such a thing occur before, I ignored it for awhile as I thought it was a blemish or zit that would go away on its own. I went to the dermatologist recently and it turned out to be flat warts. Concurrently, over the past few months, I started to notice my nails were getting yellow, breaking, and had white dots when I removed the polish. I stopped going to this nail salon. After I stopped going, and with medications, my nail and skin issues went away. I can't say definitively that this nail salon caused all of my issues, but I have to strongly wonder. I switched to a new nail salon where I know they have strong infection control practices - and no issues to-date. It's rather unfortunate as I used to be a regular; and they weren't cheap. What I can say is they should be able to afford to clean and properly disinfect this place (and their equipment) given the high prices. read more

Finally, a simple place with parking to get my nails did. Lisa and Mimi, the mother daughter team know how to do things right. The mackin' massage chairs are a MUST when getting a pedi. No hard benches or uncomfortable chairs here. My pedicure lasted over four weeks- which is a great thing considering the abuse my barefooted feet go through traipsing from the beach to the pool to kicking around the toys my son leaves around the house... I am really happy that the beach has a new nail spot that is clean and no frills. They know what they are doing and they do it well. Try them out. Oh, did I mention the fabulous massage chairs? After entering the unassuming exterior of the store, I was pleasantly surprised by how well decorated the space was- modern, clean, and all white. They took me right away, even though I didn't have an appointment. The selection of polish colors was great- lots of different shades of pinks, oranges, and reds; very appropriate for a hot summer in Miami! The technicians were extremely nice and took great care in their work. The woman that worked with me did not rush and did my feet meticulously! I particularly love the sugar pineapple scrub (smells AMAZING!), the massage, and the hot towels that were incorporated into the service (I got the beyond basics pedicure). My only gripe about this place regards the prices- at $35 for a basic pedicure, this is definitely an indulgence that can't (unfortunately) become a weekly habit. I just left this place and I'm very very unhappy and unsatisfied with the service. The nail tech was inexperienced with doing acrylic nails. I requested gel nails but apparently she didn't know how to do that either because there are air bubbles in my nails and the polish is thick and lumpy. To add insult to injury they take their last appointment at 6:30pm but their hours are until 8pm. And the worst part of the whole experience is that they tried to charge me $82 for a pedicure(which was mediocre) and gel acrylic nails. Save yourself the time and just go to iNail Spa a few blocks away instead. We used to love going to Em Nail Salon but it's unfortunately gone very downhill...they're not only hard to get in touch with to schedule an appointment, but their facility is now a bit run down, and their 2-3 techs now tend to be mediocre at best. As previously long-time customers, we tried to call several times (without success) to tell them we were running a few minutes late. Once I finally got in touch with them, they said they couldn't push the appointment by 30 minutes, which we said we understood but when we showed up just under 10 min late, they said they couldn't do the appointment at all because they only had one tech. Seems like other customers have gotten the same memo because iNail Spa seems to have taken a lot of their business (much more competently run from an operational standpoint, nicer facility, so many more techs). Despite not having an appointment, iNail being 10x as busy, they were thankfully able to squeeze us in after only a few short minutes of waiting. Total converts. read more

I am so glad I gave this place a second chance today. I was a bit skeptical after my first visit took 2 hours for a basic mani / pedi... today, I made a point to request an experienced technician with gel nails. I soaked off my existing gel nails, had a perfect pedicure, and a brand new gel manicure in 1.5 hrs!! And the technician was very patient with my request for the perfect shaped nails. The WORST experience ever. Manicurist did not have a clue what she was doing. Went straight to filing my nails. Terrible job btw. I had to remind her that I needed to soak in water. She said oops and went to get a bowl of water. Proceeded to trim my cuticles with no cuticle cream. Spent almost 8 mins on one hand and made a mess of my cuticles. I asked her if there was something wrong with the cuticle cutter she didn't know how to respond and called out to another manicurist. Another manicurist came over saw what she did and told her to stop and that someone else would be doing my nails. She went to the manager (or whatever her job was behind the desk) to let her know. This lady didn't even look my way. Was on her cell phone and at one point seemed to be taking a nap as her eyes were closed and she was holding her head up with her hand. They walked away and were chatting in the back, left me sitting there waiting with no idea what was going on. I eventually grabbed my things and just walked out. I didn't even bother to say anything as that I could tell the "manager" could care less and I didn't want to spend another minute of my life in there. read more

I very much enjoyed my very first foray into the land of gel mani/pedis and had a great chat with the owner of the shop (she too is a nyc-gal). The attention to detail is impeccable. It has not been easy finding a good neighborhood spot for nails. I've tried no fewer than 5, one of which was great but at a hotel (Sagamore's outdoor salon) so you have to valet park, deal with the Collins Ave traffic and so forth. The ladies at Em Nails are very friendly and greet you on the spot (versus walking in the door and everyone briefly stopping their work to look up at you like you've arrived via space craft and maybe stumbled into the wrong place). They also offer a large array of gel polishes, YAY!! ....something that has oddly been hard to come by - many places only offer Shellac in limited colors, no OPI, no Gellish, etc. Inside it is very clean and smells nice, there's almost no trace of nail polish chemical smell, instead it smells kind of like an ice cream store - I know, weird. It's got that Miami Beach modern minimalist thing going on. Though I am sure all of the girls are really great, I personally recommend Elena, Lena, or Heidi. $100 gets you a gel mani and gel pedi. It's not the cheapest, but by far not the priciest, so with the level of service and quality of work, this salon is just right. read more

First, when consulting a customer you should not be trying to push what you want to do. I did not want tips! Also, before you start the services you should ask the customer their budget. Third, you should also use products that don't look expired. I don't think my nails was worth $105. It was ridiculous. The salon also needs to get more trainings for there employees. There is no way I am ever going back to this salon. The lady at the reception is the rudest person I have ever encountered. I missed a sunday appointment because my 15 year old dog had a heart attack. I phoned up and said I was sorry and that could I please move it to Monday. I then phone them on Monday as soon as they hear my voice she hangs up and blocks my number. I then phone on my husbands phone, I get through and again she hangs up. I love to get pedicures when I'm on vacay. So, when I was in South Beach, I searched for a nice nail salon on Yelp. EM exceeded my expectations. The place was meticulous, cleaner than any nail salons I have visited so I was at ease. I got the spa pedicure since I was on a holiday. It was pretty good and the color lasted forever. It never chipped. It just grew out, but the color looked new as the day it was applied. The owner seems to run a tight ship there. I couldn't find any fault with my pedicure. There were no bubbles, no bleed around the border, and the top coat made my nails super glossy. I'll be sure to return when I'm back in Miami. read more

I usually go to The Carrilon, but since the wet areas have been closed, I don't want to spend the crazy amount of money without the extra benefits of a spa day, and I've been looking for a new place. I'm SO SO happy I took the chance here. Letecia was my technician, and she is absolutely AMAZING! Not only do my nails look fantastic, but she performed one of the best manicures and pedicures I've ever received. It was FAR better than the service I receive at the spa, for over $200. Updating my review because my last two experiences have not been exceptional. I recently went for a normal mani-pedi and they informed me that I would have to pay an additional $10 or $12 (can't remember exact amount) to remove my current gel nail polish if I was not going to do gel again that day. I have seen salons charging extra for it which I can understand given the extra work...but $10?! This had never been their policy previously and I found it a bit off-putting. After that, I called on a Tuesday requesting a mani-pedi as they have a $35 special from Monday-Wednesday. I asked to have the services done at the same time and the woman on the phone told me it would be $44 in that case. Again, they never used to charge extra for something like this. The past two encounters have not been with Lucy and I wonder if her absence has anything to do with the above issues. The salon felt less organized and less clean. The woman who did my nails last time was very good and very nice. But no longer sure I can consider EM my go-to nail salon. :( read more
