BEWARE. BABY COCKROACHES. INFESTATION. Absolutely unacceptable. This place needs to be shut down immediately. We found multiple baby cockroaches crawling around inside our to-go pizza box--over four clearly visible, moving between the slices as we were packing the food. It was beyond disgusting. It made our stomachs turn. Even worse? These pizza boxes are stacked right next to the food prep area, where pizzas sit before going into the oven. That's a complete health code violation and a breeding ground for contamination. There is nothing sanitary about that. Let's be clear: baby cockroaches mean there's an infestation. Not a random pest--a full-blown infestation. That doesn't happen overnight. This is neglect, and it's dangerous. When we brought it to the manager's attention, he barely reacted and showed no concern whatsoever. No apology. No urgency. No care. Just continued with business as usual--as if this was normal. This is a health hazard, plain and simple. It's disturbing, it's unsanitary, and it should not be tolerated. We are calling for immediate inspection and shutdown until this issue is fully resolved. The pizza is very thin crust. I think it used to be different, but I may be remembering wrong. It was still very tasty. Nice beer selection and good salads. Outside the music was playing and it was very lively. Inside was quieter. Our server was excellent, but the servers and bus staff who weren't busy were just hanging around being noisy. Worst pizza I've ever had. We ordered a Large fig and prosciutto pizza, when I first saw the pizza I thought I received charcoal however I gave it a try. Not everything is love at first sight. Very doughy crust to be a coal fire pizza, the goat cheese tasted bad and for $28 it seems like we received 59 cents of prosciutto, barely any in the pizza. In the past we have had some memorable meals at Ember but last night was a disappointment!! Boo. The salads were lackluster, too much dressing, the chicken was dry and overcooked, so little love!! Why? The wings were tasty but greasy and not crispy. Boo 2. Then the pizza: the fig and cheese pizza was thinner and drier than the wafer in church. Sad. Used to be so good!!! The Margarita Pizza was a soggy, thin crust with lost slices of tomatoes sitting on top. The cheese was also seemingly divorced from the crust. Like all the ingredients had a fight when they left the kitchen and they weren't talking to each other. The service was friendly but distant. My Chardonnay, in which I should have been able to drown my sorrows over tourist trap food, was not even cold. It was meh. At least the glass was nice. So was the fire outside. This place was a bigger waste of money than throwing 200 on the Pacers at +500 to win. all jokes aside, this place is the absolute worst. Stopped in last night since we were in a pizza mood. 3 hostesses when we walked in - I asked how long the wait was... everybody looked at each other as if confused. Oh we can take you now... walk to a table that had not been cleared yet... ok no worries I get it. Wait for about 5 mins then back to the table that had trash underneath. 2 water glasses for our party of 4. We are told there are no clean glasses left (it's a Monday at 6pm?). 10/15 mins later here is some plastic cups of water. Waiter (with zero personality, clearly does not want to be there) takes our order. 20 mins later we asked about the app we ordered... "oh you want that first?" Umm yeah it's an appetizer. We had ordered garlic Parmesan wings... there's clearly red pepper flakes on the chicken... so I ask if these are the right ones... I'm told yes that just what they look like. Though the wings were tasty, they were super spicy... def not what we ordered. There were no utensils on the table so we ask for some and are handed them in a bunch (not rolled in a napkin) just a waiter grabbed a handful out of a bucket. As we sit we are looking around... table next to us is brought food and no plates... customer gets up and grabs plates for the table himself. A piece of pizza crust remains on the floor and is kicked around several times by servers. The table next to us gets up and leaves... whomever cleared the table gives it a half ass wipe and doesn't pick up underneath (napkins, stares, food, lemon slice and cheese all over the bench) They reset the table as if it's ready for the next guests. A table in the distance remains unbussed and filthy for at least 20 mins. So gross. Pizza comes, it's good enough. Check comes and it's outrageous. They were definitely not understaffed - plenty of people working, but clearly nobody in charge. Staff appears not trained. We were wondering how there was no wait since everywhere else was 1.5 hours. No chance this place is going to survive. It's too bad because it has the elements to be a nice place but it needs a staff overhaul and a manager that is present and cares. read more

What could go wrong with Wood Fired Pizza?? Almost everything. From the moment we thought to go and make a reservation the pretension was evident. There is a $50 per head charge if you don't get there for your reservation. Okay, people pull no shows and it does cause a minor disruption...but for real, $50 per head. Anyway, we chose to book last minute and were able to get a table at 6:30. We arrived early and checked in, asked if we could be seated early and we were told no. There were multiple tables available and a full staff on the floor. We went to the bar and were met with a very unhappy, abrasive bartender with whom our interaction started with her copping an attitude while asking if we were all together (twice). Why, yes, we are all pulling stools out next to each other and we all look alike. it seemed crucial she have that pressing question answered. She proceeded to throw bar menus on the bar in front of us and roll her eyes to a fellow coworker and comment, "it's August"..She was right. It is August and September comes next on the calendar, then everyone leaves! I really don't care if an employee has spent the whole summer behind the bar and is "sick" of tourists. Those tourists are part of her income, if not all. I do care that I, a tourist, work hard for my income and really am not deserving of any attitude from a miserable bartender. Perhaps she would be best served in an office job away from the public eye. Having a front of house position requires a certain personality, one that she did not possess. At some point during the bar debacle a man stopped at the bar, I imagine he was a manager and he seemed to be yucking it up with the angry woman bartender. As they say, top down. Misery loves company. I then asked again about being seated a few minutes early and was accommodated. We were being shepherded to an indoor table when we reserved an outdoor dining. While asking for an outdoor table we had to "wait a minute" only to be escorted to a tiny table better suited for a two or three guests, tops (we were 4). The only saving grace, the one and only bright spot, was our server Juliette. She was kind, welcoming and had a warm personality. We asked for a larger table and were moved to a picnic table more suitable to our group size. Juliette took our orders, was efficient and capable. Our food came out of the kitchen COLD...all of it. We left half a pie for the garbage, It was crispy on the edge and soggy in the center. Cornmeal seems to be a fancy element used on a number of dishes. The Arugula Salad with peaches is uninspired (half for the garbage). The Gorgonzola garlic bread was meh, the Calamari cold. The sauce on the pizza, the sauce with the Calamari and the sauce on the pizza is a thick flavorless Ragu. Ember is not a restaurant for Italians who know Pizza, or Calamari, or Gorgonzola garlic bread, or Arugula salad. Our thanks go out to Juliette for being a bright spot. It's interesting she would even work at a restaurant of this very low caliber. My children looked at reviews and asked why I hadn't (I always do). Where to start? We had three tables besides us in the whole restaurant at lunch which probably should have been a sign. Our waitress was incredibly slow to greet us. Like, we sat for at least 8-10 minutes before anyone approached us. We ordered two beers. Both beers clearly sat at the bar before being delivered for some time and the head had almost totally disappeared before they were delivered to us. We ordered wings and they were not coursed properly and came AFTER our pizza. After they did arrive (the sauces on the side so we could try multiples), the sauces were separated in the ramekins from sitting. The wings tasted... old. Like they had been cooked twice. But the best part was that our pizza was cold on the bottom, and the crust had been cut off around nearly the whole thing to hide that it had been burnt. There are many great restaurants on the the Cape. This isn't one of 'em. Avoid. The irony here is that there advertise wings and pizza on the sign out front and both were mediocre at best. I came here a few months ago and realized I never reviewed. The atmosphere is very quaint. It was cold the evening we went, so I'm glad there was a fire to sit by outdoors even though there were several people huddled around it already. The restaurant was jam packed on a Saturday night, though. There was a bar area where people just sat for a while and the wait was about 20 minutes for us. We did finally get a seat indoors and decided to order a pizza. It was average and showed up cold to us. We think it was sitting out for a bit. We have definitely had better and didn't end up eating it all. Our server was super inattentive, which may just be a small town thing (I'm from a big city). Overall, we'd go back for the atmosphere and maybe a drink. But not the food or the service. read more

Yikes y'all. Not at all what I expected when I see "coal fired pizza and wings" Something like a flour tortilla crust with semolina on the bottom to fool you into thinking it's pizza. Yeah .. like that bad. I love pizza and this is just a total disrespect to the dish fo reals. The extra star is to the waitress who had no control over the laziness in the kitchen -( giant chunks of pineapple one per slice for a Hawaiian) and I could easily tell they were overwhelmed by not that many people in the place at dinner on a Tuesday night in September. They also didn't have the draught I wanted and nor did they have the replacement recommended. Do not bother with the chicken nuggets tenders as they are just that covered in whatever bottled sauce you just ordered. I went to Ember for the first time over Columbus Day weekend. We went early (6:15) and while there were lots of empty tables inside, we were told that all had been reserved for large (5+) parties, so we decided to sit at the bar. Ordered their special Rose Sangria which tasted like fruit juice. Not sure there was any rose in It..... The hostess brought us to a table after 15 minutes, which was great. Then the large groups started rolling in with LOTS of kids and the noise level was very high! Ordered a margarita and it was the worst margarita I ever had! Tasted nothing like a margarita, so I sent it back. We did share a large pizza, for $28, which was tasty. Long and short of it is that I would recommend Ember for families with lots of kids who want to spend as much on a pizza as they would on an entree. Don't bother ordering any drinks. read more

Casual, trendy wood fired pizza. Make a reservation for Ember! We had a table of 13 and I made a reservation ahead of time for 7:30 on a Sunday. I am glad I did because they had a wait. We were sat outside promptly. We had two picnic tables in the shade. She sat us separately at first and then said that we can move them closer. In my opinion, the reservation was ahead of time and therefore the tables should have been together ahead of time or someone should have at least helped us do it. With that said, it was an easy enough fix and I lifted the table with my 10 year old son and we loved it closer. Most of our group were still attempting to find parking. Parking is not easy because it gets so crowded so prepare for going a smidge early to make sure you find a spot. The dry rub wings are good! Really good. They have a little spice but are so tasty. The kale salad is a favorite. I looked forward to this salad since the first time we went to Ember. It has a citrusy dressing and small figs and goat cheese. Scrumptious! As for the pizza, they have two sizes- personal and shareable. I like getting personals so we can try a bunch. I tried the shrimp scampi and it was underwhelming. The prosciutto and fig is perfection! The sausage and rabe amazing! My son enjoyed his meat lover although I didn't try that. Negatives- service was friendly but slow. Kitchen was backed up. Drinks were spilled by our server and replenished BUT took to long to get the napkins for us to clean it up. We cleaned it up and the server didn't help. We ordered breadsticks that never came. They were on the bill so we asked for them to be removed. The waitress told us that they were ready and she would bring them out. We were already done with our meal and standing up to leave. We no longer want the breadsticks. Not a big deal and she did remove the cost from the bill. read more

This place has gone downhill. Badly. Waited 15 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged . Looking back, we should have left after that. Ordered "large" wings and pulled pork nachos. Took about 10 minutes to come out. The wings were soggy, but not too bad, the large order would be considered small anywhere else. The nachos were horrible. The pulled pork was cold, not even room temperature. Like they had been sitting out. They did comp the nachos after we pointed that out. The price that they charge for the quality and portion of the food is absurd. We had been going to Ember for years. After the experience tonight and seeing similar reviews, can safely say we will never make that mistake again. Our relatives took us here, after just arriving in town. They have a great patio space, including entertainment, fire pit, outdoor bar. We ended up eating inside, because we didn't want to wait for an outdoor table. They had a wide draft beer selection, but were out of several of them. Their drink of the night was Pink Sangria, but when it came it was golden. She said it had something to do with grapefruit juice. In sangria? The house salad was nice, although priced a little high. We had 4 different kinds of pizza, and everyone liked theirs. One was on a gluten crust, which was no problem for them. We all liked the garden, pulled pork, hawaiian, and fig and prosciutto pizzas. Love the ambiance, such a great place for all ages. Our party of 11 was easily accommodated, we did call ahead and made reservations. We were able to get two tables (separated of course due to Covid) inside the restaurant. Our food came out so quickly and was delicious, I will rate each pizza & appetizer below. Arugula, 4 stars Sausage & Broccoli Raab, 4 stars Steak Bomb, 4 stars Portobello Mushroom, 5 stars Cheese/Pepperoni, 5 stars Chicken Nachos, 4 stars Spinach/Artichoke Dip, 5 stars I would have given the restaurant a 5 star, but the kids demolished their pizza/appetizers so quickly we ordered them another nacho plate & it took over 40 minutes to come out. Let me start by saying I have never gone to Ember and had a good experience. I ordered via phone, and the line was busy so I had to call 3 more times. When I answered, they took my order and said it's busy so it may take up to an hour, which was fine. So I get to Ember, my order is ready and I grab it and walk out. I drive the 15 minutes home and find three of my salads are missing and they put mushrooms on my pizza. (I am SEVERELY allergic). So, I went back and asked for a new pizza and for my salads. 35 minutes later, the salad came out and the pizza was "coming". Another 10 minutes later, I asked where my pizza was and she said "it'll be done in 45 minutes". WTF???? So I left. For an almost $200 order, this place is f-ing absurd. If you can't handle online ordering or take out in general, DON'T OFFER IT. I will legitimately never go back here. The service is crap. Don't waste your money. Go to harwichport house of pizza instead. So much better and have never had a wrong order OR had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for my food. read more

The pizza could have been cooked longer, a little soggy in the center, but the vibes were nice. HIGHLY recommend the steak tips. It's long been said that MA collectively doesn't know how to make pizza. Usually, the pizza MA doesn't know how to make is NY Style. Ember goes the all the way and does not know how to make NY Style, Neapolitan Style, New Haven Apizza Style, Chicago Style, Detroit Style, or any style. The thing all these styles have in common is the understanding that the fundamental can't-get-it-wrong-or-else thing about pizza is the dough. Neapolitan, Apizza, and the old coal fired ovens in NY all get this. So do the folks making pizzas in standard deck ovens at 550. Or at home. Ember thoroughly wastes their 1000 degree coal fired oven by making dough as if it were meant to be a saltine, crackerlike without any flavor beyond what you put on top. How dough survives a thousand degrees without the least char adding to the flavor is beyond me. I have no quibble with the toppings (though blueberry sauce seems pretty bizarre), but pizza without its fundamental component done well is not worth eating. The bar was nice, the service was friendly, the environment was good. And the toppings were fine. read more

I come here for the pizza which is ultra thin crust and crispy. You can't get thin crust pizza like this. I had the kale salad which was meh and Caesar salad which was good. The dressing wasn't awesome but the Caesar was significantly better than the kale salad. Kale is supposed to be massaged first in order to soften it up but it seemed as if it was just taken from the bag and put in a dish. I do not recommend it at all. We like to come here in the summer every year and we will continue to but probably just stick w the pizza. read more
