My issue is that another server that had the table behind me made not a subtle accusation that we stole his cash tip from the check booklet from the table behind us. My in-laws have a house in Harwich so we are there almost every weekend. We have gone to Ember at least 5 times a summer over the past two years. The atmosphere is great (love the outdoor fire pit!) and the food is fantastic - lots of creative pizza toppings, and my husband loves the garlic wings (I'm a vegetarian but they always smell delicious!). I would give five stars, except that you always have to wait for a table and they don't take reservations for parties under six. Prices are a little high, as other reviewers stated, but I think pretty comparable to other similar places on the Cape. Definitely recommend! read more

Can't go wrong with the meat lovers pizza. A great pasta bolognese, and the most flavorsome wings in town make ember a must.

We tried this new place based on previous positive reviews. It has an upscale young urban decor inside, not very "cape coddy." The hostess was a Carrie Bradshaw type. It seemed busy. The staff was all very friendly and the service was good. Prices were decent. We had a little trouble squeezing into the narrow booth with our three middle aged spreads. We ordered Thai style chicken wings which were excellent, salads which were also excellent, and two small pizzas to share-- a veggie which was very good and the hawaiian which was just OK. Crust was thin and crispy. There's an open kitchen and everything was very clean and new. I would return. read more

What a fun atmosphere and great food! We started the night off with some wine and Prosciutto Wrapped Scallops... to die for! I was trying to remain healthier in my choices, but couldn't pass on these little pieces of heaven! For my dinner I ordered the Chicken Marsala. Our waitress seemed a little confused by my request to not have pasta with it, in hopes that I could have a small side salad instead... to my dismay she explained that I would have to actually purchase the full priced salad even without any pasta. There was nothing on the menu stating no substitutions, so that in itself was a little frustrating, but I will say the Chicken Marsala itself [even without the pasta] was absolutely amazing. The flavors were electric which made me so happy... sometimes you get such a bland chicken, but not here! After dinner we headed out to the patio where they had an excellent live band, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs.. as the night went on the crowd was getting younger and the patio even more crowded, which killed our vibe a little bit.... but the people watching was amazing! Ember was a big disappointment. I tried 2 years ago to enter while on vacation, but the place was packed. This year, on vacation, our group tried again because Ember was busy and looked promising. The decor was fine and the service was also fine. The place was loud, and busy, but we were promptly seated thanks to a reservation placed the evening before. The trouble was the food--a pulled pork sandwich and nachos looked promising enough, but the much-touted pizza was a disaster. The edges of one pie were burnt (not wood-fired tastefully burnt but shatteringly burnt) yet the bottom crust was mealy and wet to the touch. On both pies. How can you burn a pie and yet serve a wet-feeling, droopy crust? One of our party called the crust "doughy" but most of us agreed it was literally wet, as if the pie had sat one a wet counter before delivery. My wife and I agreed it was, hands down, the worst thin crust pizza we ever had. Never again. read more

Ordered a Margherita pizza...the thin crust thing was carried way to far, pizza was undercooked, the cheese wasn't melted, toppings were cold, only two small leaves of basil. Wait staff dressed in a variety of uniforms, a couple with their baseball caps on backwards, yelling between wait staff and kitchen. It's a shame, because we've been here before and enjoyed it. But last night was terrible. We noticed no drink menu (missing a serious revenue opportunity!)-- husband asked if they had sangria. "No, but we can make it" said the server. Uh, sangria needs hours to marinate... fortunately he chose something else. (Strangely they also didn't have pineapple juice at the bar??). when he asked if they could accommodate his food allergy with the pasta bolognese, again the server said "we can do that". What he received what a big bowl that looked like dog poo. Seriously, pasta with giant chunks of mystery meat on top. He was too embarrassed to send it back (after waiting extra long for this "accommodation"), but it was disgusting. Any kind of quality control check would NEVER have sent this out. And the server not picking up on the fact that he took two bites? Classy. This place is clearly run by college kids in the summer who don't care. Won't be back. Came here in June to kick off the summer as its one of the few places with variety close to home and open late. Service and ambiance are great but food is lacking. Food is reminiscent of what it would be like if I opened my own restaurant... tomorrow. Food isn't bad it's just not the quality you'd expect for a dine out experience. Prices are fair considering it just fails to impress with any wow factor. Place isn't for any occasion other than a late night craving. If you're craving quality pizza then order in. Wait was very long, beyond their estimate. Good selection of beers, wine reasonable, and the pizza was good. However, silverware and glasses were disgusting even after being replaced. Didn't drink the water because of it. Drank wine instead, alcohol kills the germs. read more

Great food for the citi folk who aren't normally impressed with typical cape cod fare. Good pasta, pizza and seafood dishes that are not the "safe bets" that most establishments serve. Parking is a pain during busy hours. They need about twice the lot size so you need to be creative at finding spots elsewhere. A decent outdoor seating area as well. read more

We started our meal with what looked to be an excellent menu. My girlfriend and I ordered two pizzas, an appetizer and some drinks. The service was mediocre at best. It took a seeming eternity for our waitress to appear, a good 10 minutes before our drinks arrived and once our food arrived, we never saw our waitress again until we had to flag her down to get our check. EMBER COAL FIRED PIZZA.... I called in a pizza to go last night. When I arrived there was confusion with the order. I was paying with a groupon. The hostess went out back then came back to me and said they'd make another pizza. OK no problem. When they came out with the correct pizza the manager was waiting at the cash register, I no sooner handed the groupon certificate to the hostess for payment and the manager said, "you need to read the fine print, we don't honor groupons on Saturday." We've been dreaming about their bone in buffalo wings and the generous sides of blue cheese and ranch :) The ambiance is awesome and they have a huge fire pit outside its so cute and cozy! Pretty good food and good service. As others stated, a nice change of pace from lobster and clam rolls. We had three different pizzas and all were good, with the bacon and scallop being the crowd favorite. The pizzas come out fast food fast. They cook them in minutes. While the selection, the ambiance, the service, the draft beer choices were all nice, I only give it a 3 because the crust of the pizzas were very sooty. The very edges were more less inedible from it and right now I'm looking at carbon stains on my khaki shorts. The inedible part of the pizza is pretty minimal, so I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, as the rest of the pizza was tasty. read more

Went on a Tuesday around dinner time. It wasn't extremely crowded we were seated quickly. Lots of families were there. We ordered the Caesar , Greek & Wedge salads. Skip this place. As a party of five we ordered three salads and two pizzas. It was fairly late 8:30 when we sat down but they could t handle the volume. Our food did not come out at the same time. The salads came out 30 mins after ordering. And by 60 mins after ordering, our 2 pizzas, one a personal size, had come out. At that point, we asked for them "to go". Luckily we checked the boxes, because as it turns out they gave us the wrong pizzas and when confronted they told us ours where still in the oven. Good pizza and great atmosphere at Ember. We drove by during off season and the fire pit caught our attention and lured us in. Our group ate the Hawaiian, White, and Blueberry pizzas. The blueberry was surprisingly fantastic --- the sweetness of the blueberries paired perfectly with the saltiness of the prosciutto and goat cheese. This would be a five-star review if it was not for the service. It was slow and they cut most of their staff and sent them home while we were there. It took what seemed like forever at the end of the night to get boxes for our leftovers and pay the bill. read more

Every summer I try Ember at least once, and every summer I want to love Ember... It's just not there. I went recently with my husband for an early dinner (5pm)... We requested to sit outside as there were many open seats. One hostess just stared at us when we asked to sit outside... The other one came up behind her, looked at the seating chart over her shoulder and after about 2 minutes said "we can seat you outside at 7". No thanks! We were not going to wait two hours for an outdoor seat. We took an inside seat instead. As soon as we sat down and had a look around we had second thoughts. Our table had crumbs on it and it was sticky... The floor around us was littered with crumbs and just looked dirty. It grossed us out. We saw multiple flies (okay, it's Cape Cod and the door to the patio was open... I get it, but still, flies are so gross), the ladies room had no paper towels and the hand dryer machine was broken, and it took our waitress about 10 minutes just to come over to the table to introduce herself. We contemplated leaving at that point, but then we felt bad. The waitress was nice as pie, but just didn't seem interested in us at all. She seemed to almost be too busy for us, even though there was hardly anyone sitting inside. We got wings - they were good (they always are!) but we didn't finish them and asked for them to be boxed up... Well those went back into the kitchen and never were seen again. I got pizza which was good, my husband got chicken parm... He wished he got pizza. (This is really a place to get pizza and wings)... We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We didn't even care to ask the waitress about our wings- we knew she could care less and they were long gone by now. In the end. This is a place to enjoy drinks at the outdoor fire bar, and maybe get some wings and some pizza after a few drinks. This is not a place to go in hopes of a delicious meal. read more

Wow, great gourmet pizza, cooked in an interesting way, very fast in a coal fired oven. We tried Blueberry puree, goat cheese and prosciutto. Very nice flavors. The crust gets burned a little and has sort of an industrial burn taste which must come from the coal. read more

Great food, great pizza. They have some really interesting selections and you can build your own, for instance if you have a fussy 11-year-old who only likes pepperoni. My only complaint is that it's LOUD in there! The acoustics are absolutely awful. My party couldn't converse with each other at all. Staff should be better trained on menu selections and to NOT argue with customers. Came in for last meal of the season and ordered my usual blueberry pizza. Pizza was served with other cheese besides the stated goat cheese that the menu indicates. Brought it to the attention of the kid waiting on us who proceeds to argue with me that it's only goat cheese. I have an allergy to select cheeses and have to be careful with what I order. This has been my 'go to' pizza because it's the only thing I can eat. I asked for a manager and he goes to get a cook who tells me it's goat cheese and five cheese blend. I stated it shouldn't have the five cheese blend and his response was "it shouldn't?!" Shouldn't the cook know the menu?!?! Asked for a manager a SECOND time and finally one came to the table. She was nice enough to take the pizza (that I couldn't eat anyway) and our drinks (an iced tea and root beer totaling $8.00) off the check. This place has been a regular for me over the summer(s) but the service has been slipping and it's not worth the aggravation. Sad to say, I won't be back after this ordeal. Note to management: train your staff and cooks better. They're a walking accident if they deliver food to a person with a more severe allergy than myself and they don't know what the ingredients consist of. read more

We showed up there at 5:45 PM the hostess told me 1 hour to an 1 hour 10 minutes. Fine. No problem I can wait with my three kids and wife. I went back half an hour later hostess said 40 minutes. OK Went back 35 minutes later (kids were starving) I was very pleasant just asking where we were on the list. The hostess with the blonde hair told me 40 minutes. WHAT!!!! I waited 35 minutes for nothing and didint move up on the list. Needless to say I took my kids and left very quickly. The hostess could NOT have cared less that we were leaving. If they keep treating customers like this it won't matter how good the food is. I will not be back. read more
