Finally something different. Do you ever feel like the restaurant scene in Greensboro is sort of like the restaurant scene at a big airport? Sure there are different restaurants, but they are all remarkable similar below the almost cleverly named chicken whatever with their "smokey sweet signature sauce"! That's not to say that we don't have our Atlanta Hartsfield Concourse B style options, but for the most part, the Whoop Daddy Chicken Sandwich at Lots of Big TVs Grille is roughly the same as the Hand Fed and Pleasantly Harvested Chicken Experience at Mid Century Modern Furniture Isn't Comfortable Bistro. Then there is Embur. I'm admittedly a creature of habit, so it took me a while to find Embur, but wow, I'm glad I tried them out! Embur has a wood fired rotisserie oven and brick pizza oven that are about the size of a mini van! While they serve lots of different proteins, the chicken sandwich and Americana Pizza are what I have tried. Both are next level. This my new favorite pizza place. If I were Paul Hollywood, I would shake the chef's hand...after I glared into the camera with those ice blue eyes! (You know what you are doing to my wife, Paul Hollywood! That's not cool!). The sauce they use on pizza is fantastic, the crust is just bready enough, and they use these little peppers which will light you up just enough, but won't hang on and punish you for 30 mins. The chicken sandwich is full of flavor and will make you forget the fact that there isn't a single big screen tv in the place! Embur is the first place I have ever seen at which Skirt Steak is "market price", but who knows. That may be the wave of the future for all sorts of stuff soon. "What is the market price for ice in my water?" Bottom line, Embur is wonderfully different. Something unique is that the menu has basic building blocks with lots of options for proteins and sauce. This place is amazing! I went to visit my daughter in NC so we went out for dinner we both love Peruvian food so we google this place. At first wasn't so sure but im so glad we did. Even tho was very busy that evening they took care of us quick. We order a lot of different things, even order dishes not in the menu and they made it for us. We order in total about 8 different things including dessert, im talking about papa a la huancaina, ceviche, arroz chaufa, empanadas, lomo saltado, and a few other ones that i cant remember the names. We stopped in for lunch at Embur this week and were very pleased with our experience. We were greeted and seated promptly and immediately greeted by our server. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is clean and well spread out. I ordered the Peruvian fried rice with steak and my fiancé ordered the filet entree. The flavors were on point and the steak was so tender we didn't even need a knife! I can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu. This is my fourth time eating at Ember in Greensboro, NC. The food is so good that I never had to ask for salt or pepper each time. It's just amazing!!! The atmosphere is nice, and for the most part, the staff is cool--especially the bartender. He's a cool guy. Having only been there four times, he remembered us every time we came in to eat and, without fail, came to our table to speak to us and make sure we were good. However, I went to this establishment last Saturday, June 22nd. One of the servers greeted us, and I stated that we needed a table for two. She looked around and then told me they didn't have any indoor available tables for two unless we wanted to sit at the bar or outside, where there were plenty of tables for two people. I was not about to do that because it was hot, and we had somewhere to be after we ate, which would've made us sweaty to sit out there, so I told her no. Her response took me aback because I quickly recognized the empty tables, although they were busy. I'd never seen it so busy there, mostly because I've only eaten there on weekdays vs. weekends. Long story short, I looked around and asked her why we couldn't sit at any of the open tables that were inside. Get this: five tables sat four with nobody sitting at them, and two tables of six had nobody sitting at them. She then stated those tables are if larger groups come in. I then looked behind me, and no groups of any size were behind me. I told her we would only be there for less than an hour and couldn't understand why we couldn't sit indoors to eat. She stuck to what she said. I then asked to speak to the manager, and it was at that point she had a change of heart and sat us down at one of the empty tables that sat four. Now, I have to say that our actual server, Allie (sp?), who served us once we were seated, was absolutely phenomenal. She apologized and stated she wasn't sure why the other server told us we couldn't sit at any of the larger tables. While we were eating, the restaurant actually started emptying out, and the majority of the tables were now empty, but no larger parties of four or more ever came in the entire time we were there. So far, I have eaten five items on the menu, and they were all great. If you are a beverage drinker while eating, this might not be the place for you because they DO NOT offer refills. So, if you want another glass of sweet tea, soda, lemonade, etc., you must pay for every drink. I didn't care for that and don't recall them doing that during my previous three visits. Usually, when I go out to eat, I never drink more than one glass of whatever, but that day, I was thirsty and asked for one refill, and that's when I was told it was not free and that I'd have to pay for a refill of sweet tea. That's ridiculous, but it's their policy, so what can you do? Take tiny sips so your drink can last during your meal. Aside from this isolated incident, I still recommend this establishment. Very nice restaurant with creative authentic food. Loved the Peruvian menu items. Try their cerviche it is very good and so is the filet mignon saltado. Topped the dinner off w their dessert made from apples, creme in between 2 puffy layers of crust. Being a fusion restaurant of Peruvian food and Italian dishes, there is something for everyone and you may be surprised to find a new favorite here. Waiters are friendly and knowledgeable so they will be happy to answer any questions about the food. You will also be happy to know that tables are socially distanced and staff wear masks and have sanitizer available as you walk in if needed. We stopped off here for lunch because we heard it had good reveiws. We went monday afternoon do it wasnt very busy at all. The ambiance in the place isnt the best. It was a small single room and it wanst set up very well. That being said, the place was really clean including the bathrooms. There were two servers working there at the time and they were extremely kind and welcoming. They answered all the questions we had and made sure we were satisfied. For started we ordered the empanadas and they were top notch! Best empanadas ive ever had by far. Theres nothing about them I would change. For my main meal I got the white chicken and house rice. It was good, nothing i would go out of the way to get though. Peruvian isnt my favorite but if its your thing this is a great place to stop. I dont have any real critiques about the food. I gave Embur 4 stars only because of its inconsistency. I've been a few times and the food was amazing. The bread and pizza dough are absolutely delicious and when you add the garlic/rosemary oil, there doesn't seem to be enough ways to sop up the oil. It's a delight! However, a couple of times have left me a little disappointed in the freshness of the meal. I went for an early lunch and it seemed I was served yesterday's chicken :( The service is also very inconsistent. The last time I was there, the server forgot to refill our waters, and I had to walk to the bar just to get our tab, after waiting for 15 minutes. My advice- go when you aren't in a rush. It is absolutely worth trying, and hopefully my experiences were not the norm and their service has improved. Otherwise, it's a great restaurant with a beautiful, open space. This is my bestie's favorite place to have lunch so I've been quite a few times now and have tried almost everything on the menu. Today we both tried the arroz chaufa with beef. Well that beef is filet. I've had the rice before with chicken but was in the mood for beef. Great decision! The beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare, juicy and perfectly seasoned. It melted in my mouth. Simply outstanding. The rice and veggies are always great but that beef, oh my. The portion size is just right for lunch as well. Service is always friendly and efficient. My wife accidently found this place when going to lunch with co-workers and is absolutely thrilled she did. She is forced to be Gluten Free and Embur is one of the few places in town with nearly an entire menu she can eat. But that's just a perk, the food is amazing and is also a little taste of something different in Greensboro, where we have a burger joint on every block. I really can't say anything on the menu isn't worth trying but her absolute favorite is the Lomo Saltado. The wine and beer list is refreshingly good as well. read more

This is my second attempt trying to eat here. My second attempt was successful my first attempt was not. They don't give very good customer service to a single person. First time I came here they seated me at the bar and I got completely ignored so I left and they didn't even notice. This time I got seated at a table I did get served and the food was absolutely amazing. As you can see in the picture you only get half of a potato and the salad to go with the steak. I still was kind of hungry after I finished my meal. The steak was absolutely delicious the salad was excellent it had real greens and real lettuce no iceberg lettuce to be found and this one. They did a red wine vinegarette dressing that was really classic. They never ask you to add pepper to it which it really needed. The wine was excellent overpriced but excellent. The customer service this time around was not great but it was better. They cater more to the New Yorkers that have moved down to North Carolina. A huge group of them got here after I have arrived and placed my order. They start receiving bread and appetizers before I got my meal. I had to ask for my dinner and sure enough it was waiting in the windows because I was getting ignored again. So to sum things up the food is fresh and delicious customer service has a long way to go. Back in the day the salad came before your meal and the meal came and your meal came with two sides. Here they count the salad as a side therefore you don't really get enough to eat. I'm going to give it three stars but there's five star potential here increase portion size or more than one side and don't count a salad as a side dish. Yoooo this place is tight as hell. My whole table ordered drinks and the server didn't even card us (we're all underage). My three your old nephew even got to have a sample of the amber on tap and he loved it! The food came out with the wrong sides but the server was cool enough to comp the whole check!
