I just wanted to share an experience i had here some nights ago. I arrived about an hour before closing to the store being jam packed! I mean line out the door, people being loud, the cashier and other person seemed so entirely overwhelmed, but by the time it was time to place my order, she still managed to smile and greet me. From what I listened to while O was in line, the customers were irrationally agitated. I watched the baker, i assume, bring out a full tray of cookies and throughout the next five minutes, it was completely demolished, and then when the next person attempted to order the cookie, chocolate i think, the cashier informed them that they had been sold out, to which the women started to berate her! I genuinely felt bad watching it all unfold. I've worked in food service all my life, but i couldn't imagine beyond yelled at over cookies. the poor girl looked like she wanted to cry read more

One of my favorite franchise cookie staples! This Insomnia Cookies is conveniently located on Tate Street next to many restaurants and coffee shops. They're open late so if a cookie craving hits you, you'll be able to satisfy it. I came in to get the chocolate chip walnut which is my favorite. It was fresh and warm as usual! My fiancé and I love this location. There is usually a young lady working the registers and she is awesome. She has great customer service skills and is always smiling. The cookies are always warm (except for our last visit) the cookies were barely warm. Almost like warm coffee and no one likes that. Still 5 stars because the cookies are usually very warm and melt in your mouth. Premise by saying I Visited this store a few nights ago after attending UNCG for years and going here all the time on late nights. ---------------------------------------This particular visit was similar to previous experiences as far as customer service and professionalism but I arrived around 11pm, walked in, and the chunkier, black female employee stated that she will not take orders at the register but the customers who walked inside must place orders online due to them being "backed up" on mobile orders. Attempting to be empathetic, I downloaded the app to place my order but the cookies I was looking for were not on the app or on DoorDash website. I let her know this and she proceeded to get an attitude with me for not placing my order online when 1, it's not my fault that all the cookies aren't listed & 2, I didn't anticipate coming inside and being told we needed to order online. Growing frustrated at this point, she asked me to give her a second and I calmly waited while the other customers in the lobby expressed their frustrations with the cashier as well sharing how she was rude and unfriendly to them. They told me they had also been waiting 10-20 minutes for already baked cookies to be packaged up and that they also had a similar interaction with the lady. Stumbling and grumbling, she made her way to the register to take my order which took all of two seconds and she walked away to retrieve my cookies which I expressed made no sense because it literally only took her two seconds to ring me up and grab my cookies. Not only that, but there seemed to be no one coming in for mobile orders they placed online for store pickup, everyone who placed mobile orders were customers who walked in and were told to place their order online. Seems to have been a lack of management and basic customer service skills, I was happy to have left before the people who sat around waiting 10-20 mins for their cookies but I apologized to them for their wait because I felt bad and I quietly walked out. As far as the ambiance of the store, I'm not impressed, the store looked as if they needed a nice sweep and wipe down, they didn't even have all their inventory stocked and not to mention the lady also had help form two other male employees, one who was just bringing up cookie boxes to restock on the shelf while she was running around causing chaos over a mobile orders that could've easily taken two seconds to get packed, ready and made if she had taken everyone's order who walked in right then and there. Late cravings for dessert brought me here around 11:45pm on a Sunday night. I wish there were more dessert places open. This was a solid 15 minute drive from my house lol. They were out of chocolate chunk, double chocolate mint, m&m, double chocolate chunk, and snickerdoodle. I heard they would possible get these back on the upcoming Tuesday. While someone else was ordering I heard cashier state that they were out of salted caramel cookies. The parson then ordered a triple chocolate cookie and got the last one. With them being out of so many cookie options, it made it hard to choose. I ended up getting a small cup of moontracks ice break and two cookies (sugar and peanut butter). Staff was super friendly! It ended up being a little over $10. While the cookies were barely warm, they both were delicious. Since they were out of spoons, I had to wait until I got home to enjoy the ice cream. It was actually a lot, surprisingly. It survived the 15 minute drive home without melting a bit. The ice cream was tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it! read more

Tried: Vegan Birthday Cake - 4 out of 5 (drier than the other cookies - but no suprise Sugar Cookie 4/5 - great cookie but not 5 stars Chocolate Chunk cookie 5/5 - perfection Salted Caramel 5/5 - perfection --the lines are a bit long at peak hours-- so service can be slow. My friend and I visited Insomnia Cookies yesterday for the first, but not last, time. The sales person was helpful and we managed to fill a half dozen cookie box. I tried the Mint Chocolate Chip, M&M, and Vegan Birthday Cake cookies and wasn't disappointed at all. My friend enjoyed a carrot cake cookie and my spouse enjoyed the 2 Snickerdoodle cookies I brought home for him. The best part was that the cookies were warm in the box and they made for a great snack while we walked around the UNCG campus. My one critique is that Insomnia doesn't currently offer a sugar-free cookie option. However, they have vegan and gluten-free cookies, so that's a plus. I look forward to my next visit to Insomnia when I return to Tate Street! read more

My experience tonight insomnia cookie was very traumatic to say the least. My partner called me disturbed because when he went to insomnia cookie he was told that they ran out of salted caramel cookies and only had 1 in which we wanted 3 (We got the 4x4 selection). My partner asked him is there anyway you make more since it's only 1 left, the employee says you can wait but it will be an hour for me to make the cookies. No one else was inside of the building nor was he making any other orders. My partner who is still on the phone with me is disappointed at this point at the lack of service and empathy you are suppose to receive as a customer. My partner is then asking me a question when the young male employee beings to laugh at my partners distress because the employee is choose not to make a few cookies at the moment. My partner ask politely what's funny & can he have his badge number and name because at this point he had not received good customer service. The employee then says I'm not giving you that information and I don't feel safe, which immediately makes me upset. Because once again a Black educated corporate father who just asked for information is now being perceived as threatening and racially profiled because this Caucasian boy doesn't want to do his job. He made my partner very uncomfortable and triggered because if he said anything else his life could be in jeopardy all from asking for the badge number, name and managers information. This is unacceptable and can not be tolerated, my partner never raised his voice or got rude unlike the employee. I think the ambiance could be better. I honestly don't think I'll be going back here after spending so much money at this establishment it's obvious that our business isn't welcomed and common courtesy & customer service is gone. My first experience with Insomnia Cookies was in Greenville, NC. I was blown away by the experience. Needless to say, I had high expectations for the Greensboro location. But, like many aspects if Greensboro, I was a tad let down. This location just didn't match the service, quality, nor cleanliness of their counterpart. The cookie was okay, but for the price, there needs to be that extra mile. Just to provide some context, we were the first customers to walk in at the time. By the time the employee was off of their cell phone, there was a crowd. Add a bad attitude to the mix, and it's a recipe for a sinking ship. 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because they deliver cookies until 3am! read more

Well, they don't accept their own gift cards. I have a $10 giftcard to this place and I walked in the store and they said they don't accept their own gift cards, and haven't been for 3 months. The staff was also unwelcoming and unfriendly, and for the first 10 seconds the guy standing behind the register just stared at us, I legitimately thought he was deaf.
