On Sunday our main line from the house to the sewer was clogged. it has happened one other time in the past which allowed me to easily troubleshoot and provide multiple plumbers with what I was in need of which was nothing more than for it to be snaked. They provided me not only fair but affordable straightforward pricing over the phone since I knew what the problem was. After getting Emerald recommended to me by several neighbors, for a repipe, I gave them a call. Started out well, guy was there later in the day and was friendly and thorough in his review and explanation of the job. Got my quote via email and wanted to ask some questions. Called, and the office person was totally miffed I wanted to speak with the guy who was at my house. "I can answer questions". Well, if you were in my house and looked at my bathroom you could...but since you weren't maybe the person I asked for could please call me? "He's in the field, no way to call until tomorrow". Fine. Not a very nice person. After hanging up I sent an email to the field guy with the info I was going to ask about so he could be prepared. AND sent an email back to the person who sent my quote asking for an estimate of when they would be able to do the work. Over a week has gone by, no call, no emails, no nothing. Their work might be good (it appears so from the many recommendations) but the theme of the office being a mess seems very true. They were the lowest bid with the most recommendations but if you have to chase them when they are SELLING you the job, what chance do you have after, during their "10 year warranty" period? Sorry, took a pass and went with another recommended firm who WANTED my business. Guess this is another example of our good economy. read more

I recently purchased a 1925 home complete with all the old galvanized plumbing that had been cut into with CPVC over the years. I called them (along with a few other companies) to get a quote and fully expected to get raked over the coals. Not only was their quoted price well within my budget, they were the only contractor that actually followed up with a quote! That's just the beginning of the story though. Hugo is the re-pipe estimator and he is a great guy to work with. I am selling a house as well, and this house had polybutylene throughout. While I had never had a problem with the system, the house was over 20 years old and it was only a matter of time. Besides, the buyer of the property would have been unable to get an insurance policy and that would have killed the sale! Again, fully expecting to get sold down the river on price, these guys came in very competitively and once again, the only company to actually give me a quote in a timely manner. So, we were able to set up both properties to be done on the same day by two separate teams. One headed by Patrick and the other by Darren. Both of them were conscientious to a tee about the work that needed to be done. They were also extremely responsive to a couple of minor changes we wanted to make to the original plan. Since I couldn't be in two places at once I had Patrick's team work at the house being sold unattended for the entire day. The did a two-story house with a kitchen on the opposite side from the rest of the plumbing in the course of about 6 hours!!! The older home took a little more time but Darren and his team were again fantastic in dealing with a multitude of 'discoveries' made as they opened the walls to get at the old plumbing. With all of that said they were done in a little more than 8 hours. Cutting walls and ceilings is messy work and I honestly was wondering what type of mess we were going to be left to clean up. The short answer is NONE. I think we did find a small piece of plaster that had rolled away from the work area, but they got everything else and I mean everything!!! I now have the ability to sell my old house and give the buyer full assurance of a 10 year labor warranty and 25 years on the new PEX system. I have the same piece of mind at my new house, that while I may have other issues with various things that come with an old house, plumbing won't be one of them. And should I EVER have an issue on the drainage side (which we did not have to do) - they will not only be the first company I call, they will be the ONLY company I call. One final thought, as Blaine was collecting the money for both properties he made a comment about how it's hard to sink money into something you can't really see. Great observation and in many cases I might even agree, but in this case I can't imagine the money being better spent! We can sleep at night not worrying about the house flooding out and we have hot and cold running water at every faucet - something we didn't have when we first moved in. Other reviewers have made the comment about making them your first call for your plumbing needs. Make them your only call - you won't be disappointed!!! read more

This was my first plumber experience, so I have nothing to compare it to. I'll add another good review to the Brian's pile. I called Thursday afternoon due to some problems with a very slow kitchen drain, they told me between 2-6pm. He arrived at 5:30 which was somewhat disappointing that it was the end of the range, but not something to complain about - they give a range for a reason. Anyhow, he was friendly and listened to my very amateur rundown of what was going wrong and what we'd already done. He was perplexed for a second but then got right on ideas. After searching for vents and getting into the ones that my house's previous owner had sealed up he figured out that wasn't the problem or the solution. He finally decided that he'd just have to snake it out and got on it. It worked perfectly and my drain is flowing fine now. He was friendly and professional. He knew what to look for and figured things out. My only critique is that he didn't have the camera snake thing to investigate which would have made things quicker. Price was fair: $30 trip fee. $85/hour. Not too, too bad. read more

We've used them like 4 times now. They're always on time and always in a great mood! We had a bunch of issues with the drainage in our house (it ended up being a septic tank that we didn't know we had) but they cleared out the drain enough until we could get someone out to fix the septic issue. After getting our septic taken care of they came out and re-piped/fixed what the septic company broke. I've also used them at my shop to cut and cap off an unused pipe. Extremely reasonable pricing and such a pleasure to work with. I recommend them to everyone I know!! read more

I gave two stars because if I wasn't busy with a scheduled day I would have been stoked the guy was early. And maybe it's not his fault Mirna has an attitude I scheduled an appointment a week ahead, they said I'd get a call 30 mins before, the guy shows up at least 15 mins early (appt is at 9 and I get home at 845) and at 915 I call to find out where he is. The lady answering the phone, Mirna(?), is defensive easily. She says he called me and no lights were on in my house and he left. I told her I was home at 9 with no call, she repeats herself in an annoyed tone that makes me just say goodbye, I'll get someone else. She calls back in a voicemail starting with, "what I was going to say before you hung up is we can get you in later." If you show up early and I'm not here, that's great being early but I booked my whole day so leaving because youre early and then cutting me off before I can tell you that is rude. He could have been even earlier, who knows, but I was here 15 mins before the appointment. Also, Harvey's plumbing charges $95 the first hour and they charge $125 an hour and Harvey has just as good reviews. I would like to have my plumbing fixed today but not a fan of how their customer service is. Maybe they overbooked and were trying to get one in early to make it all happen but now I'm waiting a week for Harvey to come out with a leaky toilet because Mirna's attitude blows and I ain't helping pay that tone of voice. read more

Waited at home for 4 hour window, and missed (because I have 3 small children which I was tending to) the 30 min warning "courtesy" call. I tried to call back minutes later and they had already re routed the technician. 4 hours of my day wasted because of a 10 second window when the call was made. It was never communicated at the time appt was made that it would be cancelled if courtesy call wasn't answered. Very disappointed. We just bought a house and had to have it re-piped after the house inspector found polybutylene pipes the house. My wife found Emerald Plumbing and we set up a time to get the entire house re-piped before moving in. Man I can't say enough good stuff about this crew. They were there early. Before they began the took the time to show the areas of the house they were going to have to make holes in the drywall, explained how big the holes would be, but then they would re-patch the holes (I would have to repaint which was no problem.) This crew once they began working, wow they each knew their part and they were very focused from the start and remained that way throughout the job. Watching the work was just an amazing experience, they are good at what they do and everything went harmoniously because this is what they do every day. Did I mention they worked so fast too. They FLEW through the job. I spoke with each of the guys from time to time and I couldn't have found a friendlier crew - it was like having my own friends there working for me. Now, they did upsell me on a mix it faucet and we were excited to purchase because it prevented our kids from being burned at all. When they found out that we were getting a shower wall they realized the mix it valve wouldn't work with that but it was already installed! So, they refunded me leaving the mix it valve in place. These guys don't have it in them to get your last dollar they ARE without question looking out for your well being. I felt fortunate to have gotten the crew I did and I would recommend them 250 percent. Update: The day after install my water from my kitchen sink only was freezing cold. I went out to the water heater to see if there was a lever or something that wasn't turned on for warm water. There were two black handles that were turned off. When I turn them on to see if they would turn on the warm water, I walked back into my house to find it flooding in the living room/Kitchen. I rushed to turn the handles off but one was broken. Within minutes I called Emerald Plumbing and they knew exactly what I needed to do to walk me through how to turn off the main water off at MY house. There was no hesitation. They sent Joe out to inspect what had gone wrong. He pleasantly climbed back into the attic to inspect and not only did he inspect but took videos for me to see so I could see what happened. (The damage was not due to any fault of Emerald Plumbing's doing.) The previous owner had the roof replaced months before through an insurance claim and when the roofers redid the roof they had taken off solar panels as well. When they did this they cut the pipelines to the water heater leaving a booby trap waiting to happen. These roofers didn't reconnect the pipe anywhere or cap them off and when I went to turn the valves on the water heater exposed pipes flooded everywhere in the attic. Joe explained all this to me and showed me the video and then took the time to fix the mistake that wasn't Emerald Plumbing's fault. These people left me in awe of their handiwork. The warm water not reaching the kitchen had to do with the distance from the water heater to the kitchen. It just took some time to get there. All is well there too. The patching crew was just as great as the installation crew. They were just as focused and amazingly I have a lot of texture on my walls and they matched all the texture on my walls!!! I am still floored by their excellence. Thank you Emerald plumbing for doing such a great job. I just can't say enough. Don't hesitate to call this company. (Yes there will be some dust from a re-pipe, there will be some holes. be realistic in your expectations when you got to get repairs because they can't do this job without some temporary repair damage. After repainting the patched areas, no one has been able to show me the areas that have been patched. You should feel very very fortunate to have found them, like I do. They will take care of you and do a marvelous job. read more

I used EP for several jobs recently and was happy until the last job. a mishap in scheduling left me hanging. When I called to get it corrected I was told it was my fault. The office staff is rude, confrontation. I got conflicting stories when I tried to figure out who I had scheduled my service with. One time I was told there were only 3 people in the office and another time there are only 2. And I was told they never make mistakes. Asked to speak with the owner. Never called. Have since gotten a estimate from another plumber. Guess what the work they did previously is wrong and has to be corrected. read more

We had a problem with a Moen single handle faucet and after some tries to fix it myself...of course...we called Emerald...they had the best prices and the plummer did a great job! We called one company and they showed us ridiculous prices and told us that they had to cut through the tile...which is what I was expecting but the prices were crazy...I knew there had to be a way to do it without cutting the tile...Emerald came out and fixed the problem WITHOUT cutting the tile! I called Emerald Plumbing because my gas water heater stopped working and my usual Plumbing company, Belzer Plumbing, no longer services gas as their gas guy left. Before calling the plumber, I checked my propane tank which indicated about 20% so I figured the water heater was the problem. Emerald came out, and told me that they could either replace the tank the next day for ~$1200 or repair the burner which would take over a week for ~$500-$600. I asked the guy if he was sure it was getting gas, and he said yes it was. This is our only water heater, so the repair would effectively mean no hot water for over a week. The reason I was told the repair would take so long is that they don't just sell a part, and a whole new burner would need to be reassembled w/ parts that would take some time to get. I was a bit leery of this explanation, so decided to get another opinion - so I called a company called Apopka Bottle Gas, which is where the previous gas guy from Belzer went, since I had dealt with him in the past I figured I could trust him. The problem turned out to be ... wait for it ... an empty propane tank. The gauge was stuck hence the 20% reading was incorrect. Now, you could say this was my fault and I should have known the gauge could stick, but I would counter the guy from Emerald who works on gas appliances for a living should have known this as well and I even asked if he was sure it was getting gas. The guy from Belzer also told me that even if it was the burner, that this type of burner can be repaired or replaced quickly and the story about it taking a week to reassemble is BS. When I told him what Emerald had told me, he said "I know what he's talking about, there are some burners that do have to be reassembled like that but this is not one of them." I called Emerald the next day and explained what happened and asked for the service call charge to be refunded, which they did without argument although they added "we usually do not do this". I am going to give Emerald the benefit of the doubt here, hence my 2 star rating rather than 1-star, and assume this was just an honest mistake. Even if that's the case, in my opinion the guy should have known better. However, there is also the distinct possibility that this was a deliberate upsell, and the story about the repair taking over a week seems to support this. In summary, best case the service tech was incompetent, worst case he's a crook, either way I will not use Emerald again nor would I recommend them. I do appreciate that they refunded the service charge, at the end of the day no harm no foul but again I won't call them in the future. read more

I have used Emerald before and had a good experience. Unfortunately, that is not the case this time. We had a water leak going on underneath our sink and I called at approximately 5:30 a.m. The answering service answered the phone and I explained my problem. They said the office opened at 7:30 a.m. and asked if I wanted them to page the on-call technician. I asked them to page the technician since the water was still leaking and I wasn't sure how bad it might get. Afterwards I waited and waited with no phone call from anyone. At about 7:40 a.m. I called again. The answering service picked up again and said they had paged the technician. I asked if I could speak to someone at the office since they were now supposed to be open. She said she could leave a message. I waited an hour or so again and finally called another plumbing service who was able to arrive at our home within 2 hours. I finally got a call from Emerald some hours later - five hours since my original call. I did share my experience with the woman who called and told her I had already gotten someone else. She simply said OK. I won't be calling them again. The on-call person should have called us - even if just to let us know they would get back to us or couldn't do the job or whatever. No response to an emergency call is unacceptable. I was happy with the work from the other plumber and will be hiring him for the repiping job we are planning to have done in a couple of months. read more

ATTN ALL FIRST TIME HOME OWNERS... our house was built in the 60s which means we had galvanized piping that required updating. We arranged to have the seller pay for the repairs- money was put in Escrow and we needed only to submit the invoice to our title company so they can directly pay Emerald plumbing (EP) when finished. Simple process. We called only to provide a time/date for scheduling. The crew that came out I will say did a great job, HOWEVER, the next day when discussing payment with the office (Romona Grey), I was told that because I did not pay on-site after the plumbing was completed that they had a right to place a LIEN on my new house!!!! I tried to explain that the sellers had arranged payment this way and we were merely told to schedule and have company send in the invoice. The billing was never explained to us and we thought that this process was normal. Romona, from EP basically said it was my fault and when I told her that all she needed to do was email the invoice that title company and they would cut the check for them the very same day and mail out very same day, she got more irritated. I told her that the title company also offered to cut the check and have EP pick it up same day in person, Romona replied "YOU should pick it up and bring it to US" ( in a VERY stern and cold voice). I had to express to her that at the end of the day I'm still a costumer and the tone she was using was rude and UNPROFESSIONAL! I drove more than 30 mins to bring EP the check made by the title company which was only 10 minutes away from their office. The following is also a list of other issues aside from them Bullying to issue a lien on our house!! - was told the job would be 1 day, technically it's 1 day for plumbing and another day to have drywall finish your walls - the payment was required on-site after the plumbers finished their portion but the work was not completed!! Drywall needed to come in and still patch up all the walls... YET they're demanding payment on a job unfinished!!! - Romona response was "I'm sorry you feel that way" is not an apology - I believe it was the owner in his glass office that did NOTHING to step out and apologize for any inconvenience or thank me for providing the check less than 24 hrs later when the drywall ppl were still working on my house Bottom line- I would never again use this company or recommend my friends. I know 3 other ppl who have had a terrible experience and one is my reputable realtor. The way this was handled reflects poorly and no one did anything to make it right! read more

Emerald Plumbing was a real find for me. My home needed a complete re-pipe. Their crew was efficient and thorough. They even re-piped the laundry area for a more efficient and thoughtful layout at no additional charge. That was an unexpected treat. They were on the job on time and out the same day on my 1,100 sf home. Emerald Plumbing had a drywall contractor lined up to patch and fix all cuts made for the re-pipe (which were kept to a minimum). He came in the next day, patched everything up and it was ready for paint, this was included in the bid from Emerald. Like I said: efficient. Hugo and his team are a pleasure to work with. I hired Emerald Plumbing to re-pipe our Home, because they had a completive quote and an appealing name from Ireland. They came out the next day and completed the re-piping efficiently with the type of pipe we favored or Plex piping. They then sent their drywall guys (a subcontractor) the next day to repair all the holes they made in the walls. They had demanded full payment after just the re-piping for some reason, but we refused as drywall repair was part of the contract/re-piping and had not been completed! The drywall repair guys came out the next day and neatly repaired all holes in the wall they had made, except for one? They claimed they had not made the hole and it was not marked for repair, but they had enlarged an existing small hole to do the re-piping! So, they left after not repairing the hole they enlarged? They again demanded full payment, but I refused as the drywall repair had not been completed. They refused to compromise and instead threatened a Lien on our Home, etc.! Don't go with this contractor or plumber, unless you get in detailed writing that all holes they create will be repaired before payment! Their scheme is to get full payment before all drywall holes are repaired, and then not complete or repair some of the holes! Terrible way to treat their customers!! read more

He fixed our water heater in one day, going out to get the parts the same day himself rather than wait for them to be delivered, because the Emerald Plumbing team was worried about our heater shorting. This review is based on my recent experience. I would give this company a zero if I could. My water softener was installed by Brian, who apparently is a supervisor. This is the most inefficient supervisors I have ever meet. When ask to estimate the price he gave me a day rate instead of a the whole job. Why would I ask for a day rate? when explained to Brian as well as other officials that the information provided was inconsistent they became rude and hostile without any room for negotiation. Back in mid January I found I had a water leak the hard way on a Sunday of ALL days... I called 2 places and the first one to respond would get my business and Emerald called me back in 5 minutes. They dispatched a truck to my home and in about 30 minutes the man arrived. It turned out the valve to the sprinkler system cracked on the output end and he was able to stop the leak right away. He offered to fix it right then as emergency rates or to live without a sprinkler system until Monday and pay regular rates. I chose to wait until Monday. He said he would have someone from the office call me first thing to schedule an appointment and said they would bill me for the trip when the job was complete. Monday at 9AM promptly I received a call and the service call was set for Wednesday at 1pm. At about a quarter till 1 the they showed up, replaces the valve in about 30 minutes. Not only did they waive the trip charge for the weekend but I was actually shocked at how reasonable their rates were. I had something like this happen before moving back to Florida and was charged 3x what Emerald charged me. They are NOW on speed dial if I need a plumber! read more
