Been to Emmett's before plenty of times, but not this particular location. I always go to the other one. Although I love the other spot because it's small and cute and has a nice outdoor area, thought this place was cool with the amount of space. Checked it out, went with my usual which is the one handed breakfast sandwich (a delicious and elevated McDonald's egg cheese McMuffin, and I mean this in a good way). Also got a jasmine pearl tea which I've never seen on the menu at the other location (maybe it's there, just never noticed). Although the sandwich tasted the same, it was on the colder side which was disappointing. Then my tea arrived a lot later than my sandwich so that was kind of awkward, but honestly things happen and no big deal. They did refill me up while I was sitting and reading which was great and I really appreciated! This location also got pretty packed and loud. Just something to note compared to the other location. I'd still come back if this location was more convenient for the day, but prefer the other one. read more

We went to Emmett's on a Saturday morning for breakfast and WOW! It is located in the Open Air building, a prior school house that now houses Emmett's cafe as well as Understory bar and another event space. The building is super cool and we enjoyed exploring while we waited for our food. The inside of Emmett's is very quaint with a variety of unique seating options. I ordered an iced coffee and the breakfast burrito. They have self serve water carafes that you can bring back to your table. The burrito was delicious and it was huge! I was only able to eat half and took the rest home for left overs. As we ate, the place quickly filled up with other guests so I'm glad to know that others have discovered this little gem. Ambiance - the vibes at this location are absolutely everything. It is so bright and airy and welcoming. In the summer, I love to sit outside. I just love everything about the open air location. Food- my go to order here is the emmything sandwich - rosemary aïoli for chipotle, aïoli, and a side of tots. This honestly could be my death row meal. It is so so so good. that chipotle Ole is just everything I need in my life. A 2nd Pl. is the breakfast burrito. It has the same Chipotle in it so it might be why I'm obsessed but also has the tots inside as well. Emmett's might have the best tots ive ever had in my entire life. I'm 2 for 2 on my visits to Emmett's. After loving the Meat & Tato sandwich in visit one, I was intent on getting it again. But someone else in my group ordered it , so I pivoted to the Hudson Street Burger instead. I'll be darned, but the burger might have been better! I recall the roasted potatoes w/aioli being noteworthy but they were sold out this time. I ended up getting tots for the table, and they were good, too (but not as good as the roasted potatoes). Cool spot. I got there around 9:30am on a 50-60 degree Monday. The shared parking lot was full but found free street parking. I enjoyed the lox sandwich which was $19 including a $2 something tip (I did notice the price on their site was $15 and inside the menu said $15.5). There is a nice range of seating options ranging from quieter, darker hallway area, to main area, and outdoor seating. I planned to spend most day there working on computer and there were others that did the same. The Apple Maps hours showed open till 3pm when I went on a Monday but they started putting up chairs at 2pm and another customer came in at 2pm to be told what I assumed was the kitchen was closed. I was sitting at a table and given a water to take out when I realized they were closing at 2pm. The hours were correctly posted on the door I noticed on way out. I brought the hours issue up to a staff member who said she would ask her boss. Ben, the owner, responded to my Yelp review to resolve the hour issue and I see Apple Maps is now correct as of May 1. All the staff were nice and I'll likely come again sometime. Bonus: It was nice out and u can easily access the walking trail which I walked a decent amount each way which was active with people and decently nice aside from the 4-5 homeless people tents I passed on way. read more

Nice liitle brunch cafe with indoor and patio seats. Open only till 3pm. Grab a paper menu, order and pay at the counter and find an open table. We had the schiller Bowl which was delightful, fresh and filing. The Emmett bowl was tasty as well but it can get boring with just chickpea and potatoes. Sundays and Brunch are synonymous in Columbus. I have been seeing beautiful pictures about Emmets all over social media. I have the perfect opportunity to try out this place with my gal friend today. The place was packed at 10 am with 30mins waiting. We started with coffees while we waited for our seats. My friend ordered the Meat + Tato, I ordered the breakfast burrito, we shared the banana bread ( which is so decadent, you cannot miss it) The breakfast burrito was BOMB! I saw pics on Instagram so I decided to give it a try. I am very happy. I ordered extra chipotle aioli and a side of tots that I added to the burrito and it was soo good!! I couldn't finish it all myself so plan for leftovers!! The banana bread comes with caramelized bananas and cinnamon butter which takes it up two notches. Understory is going to be a great story. The building is effing amazing, and the environment has been waiting 100 years for it to show itself as a community spot, restaurant etc! Our experience was mixed today on the food side, but the service, environment, and presentation were all stellar. We ordered a fish sandwich that was so overly lathered in tartar sauce it rendered itself uneatable. Correct that and it will be great, since the fish was very tasty. They took the meal off the check since we could not wait for a redo. The chicken cutlet sandwich was over-done totally. So both were a kitchen issue that will surely be corrected given the heritage of this restaurant. I cant wait to return to try out the restaurant for breakfast and the bar for patio fun. read more

I had my eye on this place when it opened! First time I tried it, we ordered online for pickup on a Monday morning. It's not busy on weekdays. I got the breakfast burrito while my sister got one of the English muffin handhelds. She also got a side of the tots. I was stuffed! Ate only half of my burrito. The eggs could've been distributed more evenly in the burrito. As another review said, it did seem to be more egg than any other ingredient in the burrito. The English muffin type sandwich seemed kinda small...then again, this seems like a place that caters towards college students. I didn't eat much back then. Nor did I have the budget to pay for the burrito back then. The tots were a generous portion. It's definitely shareable. The next time I came was a Saturday around noon ish. There was a wait. They told us 30 minutes and they'd text us when a table opened. Only waited ten minutes! We sat down at a bench near the bathrooms. My friend ordered the avocado toast. WHOA. Large slices of toast which they must make in the kitchen. Beautiful presentation too! Topped with quinoa crisps and sprouts. It looked to be a filling meal! She also got mango lassi. She enjoyed it!! I got one of the lunch bowls, which had sweet potato mixed with quinoa, a small salad, and kraut. Delicious! I also ordered beet juice upon the suggestion of our server. It was good! I'm not usually the biggest fan of beet juice, but this was fantastic! The space is nice! It used to be a school. The hallway has lockers and a door labeled for the Principal's Office. LOL. Also, there's lots of natural light. So it's very bright inside and they aptly placed plants on the shelf. Parking can be annoying here. The parking lot itself is tight. Harder for SUVs to maneuver as opposed to sedans. I found a spot easily, but only because there were open spaces behind and next to where I parked. What a cool space. Tucked away in a corner off Neil Ave they have given a beautiful old school building new life. Parking is very limited. I went on a weekday, but I could see it being tough to get a spot on a busy weekend. Loved the walk-up window for take out orders. Staffer was friendly and helpful. Honestly, I really did not enjoy the chai. It had a super strong flavor of some kind of spice I just did not like. Breakfast sandwiches had great flavor. I did order them on gluten free bread, so they ended up being soggier than I would have liked. On the regular bread they normally come on, I think they would be amazing. I've always been a fan of OG Emmett's, so when they opened a new place, we HAD to try it. I love that this new location has much more indoor seating and a pretty convenient system of calling you up via text, which meant we could go wait in our car or walk around the area without missing our table. Just a warning, as to be expected of Emmett's, it gets pretty busy around 10 - we waited around 15-20 mins for a table. Anyways, to be expected, everything was so good. The banana bread we got on a whim and I had pretty low expectations, but it actually turned out to be our actual fav. Between the super soft, fluffy bread and the brûléed bananas, we absolutely demolished that in seconds. The tots are always a classic too, nothing less was expected. The Emmything I think is available at both locations and just the usual level of amazing we all know and love about them, Would 100% visit again. Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Interior is light and bright and outdoor seating has several tables with umbrellas. Additional seating is outside of the main seating area in the charming hallway across from lockers in this old school building. Service is friendly and prompt. I had the avocado toast on gluten-free bread with a flat white. The avo toast had a nice balance of tangy flavor of pickled beets and a bit of crunch with the sunflower seeds as a topping. I really loved coming to Emmett's to catch up and cowork with a friend. Our service was excellent and wasn't stuffy in any way. The Open Air School is such a fun historic space. I love how Tuttle Park & the Olentangy trail are right behind the building! So my friend lives right by here and we have been waiting for it to open. What better time to come than a galentine's brunch? Aesthetic and food was on point and I already want to return! It was a bit of a wait to be seated but its a smaller space and new so the wait is to be expected. Staff was all super friendly. Foodwise, I had difficulty choosing so my friend and I split the breakfast burrito and the meat and tato. Both were excellent, the meat and tato was a great bfast sandwich, also the chorizo just yes. The burrito was also very filling and the eggs were so fluffy and prosciutto was made crispy which gave some textural contrast. Our group shared the chia rose parfait and honestly a great way to end a meal. There were so many great flavors and textures, nothing was overpowering, which can happen with rose. There is literally 1 cut between the 2 halves of the wrap. Its is almost $20.00 and only has one of what I ordered it for, not lettuce which I got as a side option ‍ Would I recommend? I had been wanting to get to this place for some time. The food looked so good online and I'm really glad I tried it out. First off the banana bread in incredibly delicious save room for this. The TK is huge served on Focaccia bread, with egg, white cheddar , avocado, arugula and a creamy whole grain mustard. then on to the Breakfast burrito you have to check out the picture the egg on this sandwich is like 3 inches high. It's has avocado, Monterey Jack cheese, prosciutto, tater tot, and chipotle aloli. This burrito was very tasty and really hit the spot. We were in Columbus for my nephew's ROTC Competition and for the lunch break, the locals told us we had to check out Emmett's cafe. It was a short walk, and we found it quickly. Built in a repurposed schoolhouse, the atmosphere was cozy and casual. Clean lines, and a well thought-out plan. We ordered drinks first: Matcha Latte for my wife, and I couldn't resist trying the Espresso & Tonic for myself. Matcha was fantastic, and until this weekend, I'd never thought of coffee as "refreshing," but now I do - so glad I tried it! We couldn't decide on the Turkey Club or the Emmything, so we each ordered one and traded halves. Emmything was off the charts delicious and the Turkey Club had the most extraordinary bacon on it - Definitely made the sandwich. The pricepoint was a bit higher than I think it needed to be, but the ingredients were most certainly fresh, and I know the barista made our drinks when we ordered them, so don't think of it as an expensive sandwich, think of it as a unique dining experience from people who care about the environment and really enjoy what they do. I was not super hungry but just wanted to have something interesting and different from my usual oatmeal plus breakfast. Emmett's has a small menu but one which has a twist on usual breakfast offerings. I selected the One-Handed ( an English muffin, egg, white cheddar, prosciutto and rosemary aioli) at $7. and a latte. It was delicious but does not cure a hang-over. All meals are made from scratch so there is a wait time. There was an extra wait time because the restaurant was so busy. The restaurant has large windows and plenty of sunshine filters through. It has a semi-industrial, open, modern clean look with a sprinkling of potted plants. Grabbed brunch here with a friend last week. The space is super cool and I didn't even know it existed! You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The cafe was easy to find and had good reviews so I went to check it out while in Columbus for a day. The overnight oats were good and my 2 year old ate the whole bowl by himself! However, my one handed sandwich was SO very salty, I couldn't even finish it. I ate less than half of it and just couldn't do it anymore because it was too salty (and I love salt!). I tried to even scrape the aioli/sauce off, but it didn't help at all. I would recommend that they work on making the sauce less salty if they want to ckntjnhe using prosciutto on it.
