    Seoul Mate
    Sam O.

Best Detroit pizza in dc!!! I've had the VIP and Seoul Mate and WOW!!! Some insane slices from this joint. These two both come on a sesame seed crust that left me speechless. The Seoul Mate is a seasonal special and might be my favorite pizza of all time!!! Topped with Cleveland kitchen kimchi, house made sausage, and daeji bacon this creative fusion packed combo is then finished with a drizzle of Korean bbq and a sprinkle of cilantro. Pure heaven. This is my death row pizza. The VIP comes with red sauce, vodka sauce, and their parsley pesto. Finished with Ezzo pepperoni and Calabrian chilis on that sesame crust? FIRE! Pairs well with your fave glass of red too ;) LOVE YOU EMMY

Whenever I try pizza I try to stick with the basics. This was a very hard decision here because they had so many good choices. We went for the original cheese and the cheese sticks. Ive had other Detroit pizzas before but this is top tier. The flavor of the dough is delicious. You can tell they fermented it over several days. The dough is thick and puffy with crispy edges. My #1 Detroit pizza pick. The service was great and quick. The restaurant is nice and spacious. This is my second time dining. Ive tried the Alexandria location as well.

I have lived in Detroit for more than 30 years and never heard the phrase "Detroit style pizza" until a few years ago, so it always makes me snicker when I hear about a Detroit pizza place in another city. This place was very quiet at 2:00 on a Saturday, so we basically had it all to ourselves. We started with the bulgogi fries, which were fantastic! The Good Pauline pizza was excellent. The VIP was good too, although it was spicier than we expected.

Came here for a little snack before a night out on a the town and after a concert at 9:30 Club. Restaurant was pretty empty so we were able to walk in. My group of three ordered the small size vodka pizza and jumbo wings (which aren't so jumbo). I would definitely come back and get the pizza but the wings were nothing special (kinda dry). Service was enough and pretty spacious restaurant. Would come back for take out!

BABY !!! This place was delicious! It was worth the stain on my white shirt lol. The MVP was off the chain. The detroit style pizza will get you full QUICK! When I saw the prices I clutched my pearls initially. BUT THIS IS GREAT QUALITY PIZZA. I'll pay for it again and again!

Wow. First time trying this spot. Zia fries - so cheesy! The bacon was a nice touch. The bacon was thick dices too. Not too seasoned, but not bad! Colony pizza - spicy! pepperoni, jalapeño and honey. Nice crispy crust. Cheesy, and good. Service was good. Was able to walk in on a weekday and get a table for 1 easily. They also have bar seating, I believe. Coconut cocktail - very good! If you like coconut, this is for you. I enjoyed it very much. Everything is shareable, so I HIGHLY recommend suggest coming with a friend or two to cut cost, but for a solo outing, I enjoyed it and had more than enough for leftover lunch the next day

Lovely, vibey spot for some great, hearty Detroit-style pizza and a fun, lively dining experience! I dropped by Emmy Squared for a late Sunday lunch with a friend, and the place was relatively empty (which makes sense for ~3 PM on a Sunday). We were immediately seated in a cute little booth by the window, which was a great place to soak in a bit of Vitamin D and enjoy people watching along Florida Ave. My friend and I split the classic margherita pizza, which was delightful. I'm typically not the world's biggest pizza fan -- much less Detroit-style pizza -- but this was really well done. The dough was robust but a little springy, almost like focaccia, and there was a generous helping of gooey melted cheese and tomato sauce on every slice. The sauce was the perfect balance of savory, tart, and very slightly sweet, the cheese was nicely broiled, and I love that they added a piece of basil to every piece to give it a small bit of freshness. One pizza was the perfect amount of food for the two of us, and it was super reasonably priced -- it's rare to get a good meal in DC for less than $15 per person. If you come with a group of three, I also think that splitting one pizza and one salad would go well too. There are plenty of vegetarian options, and they also have a phenomenal gluten-free crust, so there's definitely something for everyone here. Overall, great experience and super tasty meal! Can't wait to come back and try more of their 'zas.

    Caesar Salad

This was my second time to this location and it did not disappoint. I went around 9pm after a concert at Howard Theater. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. The Caesar salad was delicious. It was fresh and crunchy. The colony pizza was fresh and delicious as well. The honey adds a sweet touch and compliments the pickled jalapeños really well. I knocked a star off because no one came to check on us once our food arrived. We needed napkins and had to go to the bar to get them. We then had to flag someone down to get our check.

The staff are extremely friendly and the pizza topping combinations are high quality and completely delicious. They also care about their gluten free crust option- it's one of my favorite spots for pizza in DC.

Real quote: "I would come back here just for this salad!" We had a great dinner at Emmy last night. Made a reservation in advance, but they were pretty slow so I'm not sure you'd need a reservation even on a weekend. I've tried this spot a few times in New York but have been anticipating trying this spot in DC to see if it lives up to the hype. We devoured the Cesar salad with delicious crispy breadcrumbs so quickly I didn't even take a pic! We also shared the zia fries that had a really yummy seasoned blanco cheddar queso on top, thick cut bacon, and scallions! We also got the classic pizza and big ang pizza. The classic was great - cheese on the bottom, sauce on the top. Perfectly cooked and crispy! The big ang had lots of ricotta and sausage and was really delicious as well! Walking in, you have to get past the crowd of door dash drivers crowding the front entryway. There was a medium sized dining space with plenty of seats. We were seated at a nice center booth and were helped right away. Service was nice and friendly, however they brought our food by leaning over the back of the booth and handing us the pizza trays instead of coming to the front of the table and placing the dishes on the table which was kind of odd? Overall, I'd love to come back and try more! I'd be tempted to do takeout as well, since service was eh but the pizza stays overnight (we had a few slices left over) and I'd kill for that salad again!!

    Bottled Coke with lime!

My friends took me to this place, saying it's the best pizza they ever had! It's Detroit-style pizza, deep-dish. It's tradition to order your own preferred personal pizza with the notion that you can swap a slice for a slice with your friends as well and try some more flavors! I did the classic "make it a Margherita," some got the sausage one adding jalapeños, and the one with the white sauce was divine. We thoroughly enjoyed Mexican bottled cokes with our pizza. We were doted on by Hafez, he was such a kind waiter, made sure we received our military discount, and took lovely photos of us. We had such a wonderful time!

Maybe they were all reserved? Not sure. We were greeted by the staffs and shown to the table. Smooth and fast. All the menu looked tempting so had hard time choosing which one to go with. Went with meatloaf and miso salmon. Meatloaf was really good! Flavorful with tender/juicy meat combined with onions, bell peppers etc. Miso salmon was also good! Okra and broccoli were adding more taste to the dish itself. No complaints at all! The prices were on the higher side though. Menu says each are $28. However, there was mandatory service charge of 20% and tax was calculated after the service charge, which end up being approximately $40 per menu item we got - miso salmon and meatloaf. Wish the menu price would just include service charges so prices would not be misleading with all the charges after. Not sure if this is because of World Cup 2026, but too bad they had to hit their customers with extra fees after enjoying the meals which could have ended happily rather than leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!

The mosquitoes aren't out yet so enjoy the patio. But honestly, the real star of the show, the one that truly stole my heart and taste buds, was the Antigua Bound drink. It was so good I had to get it twice! Seriously, this drink is a game-changer. It's got that perfect balance of refreshing and delicious that just makes you want to savor every sip. You know a drink is special when it outshines a stellar patty melt and fries, and the Antigua Bound definitely did that. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries. Not bad, crispy , hot, and...wait...sweet...something is off, I can't put my finger on it but at least it's not a raw egg. I keep eating. The bartender was friendly and professional, and I saw a party next to me chatting with another staff member that was dressed differently -- I'm guessing that was the owner! I looked over their menu and was having so much trouble deciding what to have. After so much going back and forth, I decided to do the doro wat chicken tenders and the spiced mac and cheese. What. A. Oh, their drinks definitely include Ethiopian spices.. how creative! And they taste great. Definitely returning.

A super messy and cheesy option that was definitely worth every bite! I liked that Jon's Joint offered other options too such as loaded fries and fried chicken sandwiches. What I found unique is that for the loaded fries, you can get it with falafel and make it spicy! This time, they had run out of the falafel so I am excited to try it next time. If you're in Arlington and craving a casual burger spot, you need to go to Jon's Joint. You'll get quick service and a delicious meal!

Happed upon this place while driving. Was hungry, it was close, had good YELP rating, so I came in…read more Basic. Nothing at all spectacular. Cute posters. You can tell the owner is really into Superheroes. I ordered the grilled chicken. The good thing is that it is cooked to order. Loved that. Downside, no seasoning, AT ALL. This would be fine, I understand dietary considerations with sodium. What had me perplexed was they had NO PEPPER in the entire restaurant. I've NEVER been at a restaurant that didn't have any pepper. Plenty of salt, seasoned salt and even more salt. No pepper. Burgers seem to be popular. Wasn't very crowded, but seemed popular by locals. It was a "meh" for me. I do however really like that the food is cooked to order.
