What a shame that we have to give a star to leave a review. This place is garbage, in too many ways to enumerate. But I will say that as someone usually horrified by the massive portions this great country claims as its birthright, the "portions" at Emmy Squared were embarrassingly small. When you claim a chopped Italian salad feeds "2-3 people," it needs to be enough for at least one middle-schooler. Westport and the surrounding area have so many options, that this godawful spot need never be patronized again. Tried this for the first time over the weekend after the local hype about the opening. Had never had Detroit style pizza before but grew up in and around New Haven so wanted to give it a go. We did takeout. It was really really good. The sauce was especially flavorful. I got the classic which I don't normally do but I wanted to try the stripped down back to the basics kind of pie. As I also have a gluten allergy I was thrilled they offer gluten free crusts and that their website lists their gf protocols, which made me feel more comfortable with the experience. Brussel sprout salad was delicious, Kids burger and pizza equally good. The ambiance is really nice though a bit small. While our server was really good, the hostess needs a bit more training. You can tell they are working through some grand opening kinks, but if they can get it together, it'll be a nice addition to Westport eats. read more

I have to say this is extraordinary pizza. Call it Detroit style or call it what you want - this pizza is unique and delicious. Crispy crust with soft breast inside topped with delicious sauce and cheese as well as whichever toppings you desire. I enjoyed the bacon, mushrooms, and vodka sauce. Definitely give this place a try when you have the chance because they change the pizza game around Fairfield county. read more

We were really looking forward to our dinner here but it was a flop. The place was crowded and we waited and waited for our pizzas. Seems the kitchen could not keep up with the demand and it took an hour to get our food. Our poor server apologized over and over but there was nothing he could do. When it was finally ready, we asked for boxes, paid and left. We ate our food at home. The pizza was good, not great. Once was enough for us at Emmie Squared. read more

Small sicillian pies. While I now understand the burger is the reason for the hype, I went for the pizza. Took a group of friends to try the new "Detroit Style" pizza in Westport. Having heard of not only this style of pizza, but of this particular pizzeria; New York's newcomer onto the pizza scene. (Let's call me excited.) Ordered the chopped Italian salad and the Zia fries to start. With the assistance of the waiter, our party of 6, ordered the Colony, MVP, Seoul Mate, and Classic small pizzas. Zia fries were very good. Crispy fries, that stayed crisp under the toppings. Good layer of toppings without being overdone. Salad was good, nothing mind blowing; standard green salad that is chopped and they offer a pesto dressing. I am not a fan of pesto, so o opted for oil and vinegar but others at the table enjoyed the dressing. Said it had a good tangy flavor and paired well with the salad. Pizza: the small is smaller than a grandma or typical Sicilian pie. It is small. A hungry guy could put the entire small away as a lunch for sure. Two people would polish off a small and have room for a few beers and the salad and Zia Fries. The pizza was good. Not great, not mind-blowing. It reminds me of a square Greek style pizza: the slight burn around the edge of the crust that has a crunch and greasy crust. Not sopping, but it is very greasy, so don't be surprised by that. Everyone in my party agreed that the pies should have been cooked a little longer They were soft in the center and a few more minutes, maybe even 5 more minutes, the entire bottom would become crunchy ( a by-product of all the grease, the crust would crisp). Which would also give the individual slices some stability and prevent the small slice (surprisingly) from flopping over. I personally was not a fan of the sauce on the Classic. I found it too sweet. The VIP came with pesto and I am not a fan of pesto so I didn't enjoy that slice. The Seoul Mate was interesting but had a flavor that was tiring. I love this pizza! Detroit style baby! I ordered it two night in a row when I first tried it because it was so good. It's a thicker fried crust kind of like Greek style, but different. Like of like Pizza Hut's crust (if they used super quality ingredients and made it from scratch) but obviously way better. It's hard to describe. Maybe the simplest is that it's a "fried" pan pizza crust. The toppings are amazing. The sauce is on top and it's super flavorful. I've never been to the Brooklyn locations but I'm not surprised it's too popular. read more

This place is marketing vegan pizza but all of their pizza crust is cooked in a pan with butter (not vegan at all!). As someone with a dairy allergy, this is very concerning! We were told that they could not make any pizza without butter even though they have vegan pizza on their menu. If you are allergic to dairy, please be aware of the pizza you are eating here! read more

Not impressed. We came here because we've been to Emmy squared in Brooklyn and loved it. This isn't the same at all if that's what you were looking for. The pizza was doughy and almost tasted undercooked. The drinks came after the food when there wasn't even a long wait. Really good cocktails. Pizza is just not great. Fries - very good, 8.2 Pizza - very good, 8.1 Caesar salad - fair, 6.9 Service - not good, 5.4 It didn't seem anyone was in charge and those that were there seemed they were never trained. Food and service were great and I recommend getting the pizza. I tried the burger last time I went and it wasn't really good in my opinion. I thought it was overcooked and that sweet siracha sauce did not go with it. They also did not specify what the sauce was and that it would be pretty spicy, which I thought might be a problem for some people. read more

Beware if you have nut allergies. My daughter ordered a gluten free pizza with bacon online stating "nut allergy" in her order. She had a severe allergic reaction within minutes of eating the pizza. Long time fans from living in Brooklyn. Came to this location the day after Christmas and they were short staffed and busy. Pizza came out great and quick. One family member remarked the gluten/dairy free was the best they ever had. Star was Bridget who I believe was the manager. Despite the crowd she had time to make us a few drinks including one special off menu holiday drink that was phenomenal. We had an incredible experience at Emmy Squared! The food, drinks, and atmosphere were all top notch, and the service was in a class all its own. Bridgette and Robin took the best care of us, and Alice was so amazing with helping us plan everything! Overrated and underwhelmed. No room to wait for a table so you end up on top of diners and waitstaff. Pizza came out undercooked, sent it back, waited 20 mins, came out undercooked again, sent it back again and then never reappeared but was charged for it. To my disappointment, it was a terrible experience. For starters they gave us anchovies in our salad when we asked for it without, it had a very fishy taste. Then, the burger we had was borderline inedible. It was rubbery and gamey. Tasted like it had been frozen. The pizza was 20 minutes late and undercooked. The fries were incredible. That's all. The Italian salad was excellent, but the Big Ang pizza was horrible. It was so posed to come with meatballs on it , but it tasted like sausage. I called the Resturant and said they put sausage on my pizza instead of meatball. The informed me that they don't have meatballs any more. You would think they would adjust their menu to reflect what they serve instead of switching items without your knowledge. read more
