Had a great early dinner at The Empanada Stop...absolutely delicious! Everything was made with fresh ingredients, and the service was incredible. This place is truly a hidden gem. We ordered a garden salad, empanadas, and a pastrami sandwich with house-made chips. They also let us sample the house soup and the ice cream and baklava, which were both amazing. We loved the soup so much we took some home for later. The prices are very affordable for the quality of food you get. Highly recommend!

The menu was so big and everything sounded delicious so I did the American thing and got a burger. It was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the different bread for the bun! It was super juicy and moist and flavorful. Didn't love the tiramisu but that's alright, the chips on the side of my burger were good instead, super smokey instead of salty which was new!

Great Experience! Tony owner/manager/front of the house and team took care of business Clean, nice space Empanadas were good.. I would've preferred a little more flaky.. the beef was the best.. dipping sauces were a red sauce and an olive oil base Soup sample was perfect.. nice broth with cauliflower that tasted as if you were fine dining Baklava Ice Cream was outstanding.. perfect portion, flaky Baklava with creamy vanilla ice cream Will be back to try their sandwiches and burgers.. they look incredible

Delicious food brought comfort and joy to these lovely ladies :) They ate every bit of their beef empanadas, cauliflower soup and pistachio baklava :) They could not stop raving about the food!

It's hard to imagine how a place can get such high reviews until you try it and then it all makes sense. Stopped by recently and immediately knew it would be a favorite of ours. Pastrami sandwich is one of the best sandwiches in all of Portland, definitely one of my favorite meals in town. We've also had the tri-tip and the prime rib, both were amazing too but the tri-tip had a nice bright flavor with the delicious aioli and peppers. Everything is always fresh and house made, all of it super flavorful. Beef empanadas are incredible with a fresh chimichurri. On top of all that, they're always super nice with great service. Can't recommend enough!

This place is absolutely amazing. Tony was such a gem and he let me know that everything was scratch made! My tinga chicken empanadas are amazing and the the chimchurri sauce is to die for. They also gave me a sample of the soup and I will 100% be getting it next time! You have to stop in here! Great vibes and kind staff :)

This is the 2nd time we've eaten at Empanada Stop. The food is fantastic! The 1st time we were given a sample of the house soup (cauliflower & cashew) and also the baklava. After that sample, I knew I would order it this time. It is so creamy & smooth, and tastes like a light cheese soup. So yummy on a cold PNW day. The beef empanadas are so good, lightly seasoned and not at all greasy. The chimichurri sauce adds a little herby spicy kick to it. They now have a butternut squash soup which we tried. Also smooth & creamy and mildly spiced. The owner is very warm and friendly. Service is very fast and the dining area is bright and clean. Restroom is clean as well. We enjoyed all the food and will definitely be back!

Thought I wouldn't like the slaw because I usually hate coleslaw but it was unlike any American slaw I've ever had. So delicious and unique tasting, and paired with the crunchy katsu was just delicious. The fries could use some more crunch but the sandwich makes up for it.

This location is also a bit small so not really suitable for big groups. We came on a Friday for lunch and there's only 1 kiosk so it takes a while for big groups to order and I don't think they have a person starting another order if it gets too busy. They were out of a couple of the drinks for the kids menu, which was okay because there were 2 other options. Not once did the staff interact with us or say hello to us. The wait time for the food was ok but the server basically ran and threw the food at our table without ever saying anything to us. I ordered a pork katsu sandwich and the pork was VERY dry. I also ordered it normal but when she threw it on the table, she mumbled something "it's not spicy" and but there was clearly some red powder on it and looked like my friend's sandwich that she ordered spicy. We went up to ask the girl and she said they accidentally put the powder on but it's not spicy and that was it. She didn't apologize or offer to exchange it. I think it's unacceptable behavior and I was in disbelief. They were also out of ketchup and we had a whole table of French fries with the kids meals... I have been to the other location a few times and the food and service was good as far as I can remember, but this location is horrible. I will never come back again and will tell all my friends and family about my experience. 2/9- I emailed the business owner like he requested but never got a reply. Don't need to tell me to reach out if you don't care to email back. Thanks.

Our friends highly recommended this spot so we made a point to stop here on our way into Portland…read more The scenery was beautiful surrounding the drive-in, which also has some indoor and patio seating. They have a nice big parking lot and it was free to park when we went on a Monday. There is a trail and playground nearby so it was nice to enjoy our ice cream after over there. I loved how they had coloring pages and crayons at the counter for the kids to kill some time while waiting for the food! I loved that they had some Asian inspired flavors on the menu which I was not expecting! I kept it simple with a grilled cheese which they serve on a waffle and I also added pulled pork for a small upcharge. The tomato soup pairing was so delicious and it was such a comforting meal in the foggy overcast weather. For dessert, we tried the rainbow brite seasonal sundae, which had these ripe mangoes and ube swirl inside. It was so cute with the little rainbow jellies! The vanilla soft serve itself was really good so I think I would've been happy whether it was a plain sundae or completely loaded like this one. We also tried the guava cheesecake cookie, which was huge and I loved the guava cheesecake filling. Sugarpine did not disappoint and it definitely lived up to the hype. It's a little bit outside of Portland, but definitely worth the drive for the scenery and the food!

Food: The regular price of their sundaes are about $10 but really $12 once you include the 20% tax…read more The flavors were good though. We had the Chery Colada parfait which was a vanilla with cherry and pineapple and the Once in a Blue Moon which is a blueberry ube mix. The cuban pork and boriqua bbq chicken sandwhiches were approx $18/$22 with tax and $17/$21. So you can easily spend over $100 for a family of 4 stopping for lunch. No judgement, just letting you know what to expect and you can decide if it's worth it for you. Service: Non existent in the sense that you stand in line order at a window and seat yourself if you can find a spot, your food comes up at a window, and you throw your own trash out afterwards, but they charge you 20% extra on every items. Why not just raise your prices 20% and put a sign that says no tips? I guess employees would earn more money when it's busy on a Sunday but make less when its slow? To each his own. I'm just letting you know what to expect. Ambiance: It's a walk up sanwhich and soft serve ice cream food place in a great location by the Sandy river. We came on a Sunday and it happened to be their Anniversary celebration so they had a dj and they were doing a collab with some burger place. On this day, it was either pulled pork or bbq chicken sandwhich options or the burgers and the sign said food could take as long as 55 minutes in addition to the line that was over 30-45min long. So we opted for their sundae specials for $8 and burgers because we assumed the burgers would be cooked faster while we were still in line for the ice cream. But NO! Despite no line and nothing being cooked when we ordered, the burgers weren't ready until long after we got our ice creams and finished. Burgers were actually a bargain! Only $48 for 3. So that was only $16 each. Parking was awful. Seating was not much better, we were able to find a table to share with others. I had been wanting to come here for years seeing them on IG and here on yelp but don't make it out to Troutdale very often. So I was happy to finally try them out. Unfortunately I don't know if it is always a 1-2hr commitment. I probably wouldnt make a trip just to come here, but if you are on the Sandy river next door, an ice cream to share is probably not a bad deal.

FOR A PLACE BUILT AROUND BURGERS/DOGS THIS WAS JUST SAD…read more Maybe try a hot dog or something. I don't know, but my burger was a monumental dud. It was served on an egg white coated brioche bun which gave it a somewhat leathery texture on the outside, soft on the inside. It came with a pickle slice, one tomato slice, a lettuce leaf, a slice of cheddar cheese, a tiny dollop of mayonnaise (you must ask for a side of ketchup and/or mustard), and the single most boring tasting burger I have had since the little league game I went to last summer. No juice. No flavor. The patty was not hot and tasted as if it were sitting in a warmer for 30 minutes before we came in. The burger came with fries (which we all agreed were the best part of our meals) and it cost $16. NO MILKSHAKES OFFERED, which given the theme of the restaurant is just a horrible oversight. I cannot imagine this place lasting long. So forgettable most people will likely only come here once out of curiosity, then go back to their favorite greasy, oozy, flavor-packed cheeseburger spot for a real burger.
