We went with a group of people for breakfast. Everyone ordered different items and they all complained about at least one thing. For myself, I ordered a Belgian waffle with fruit and whip cream. I must say this was the most underwhelming waffle I've had in a while. It was very soggy and pretty bland. The fruit was just canned syrupy strawberries that tasted old, acidic, and overall not pleasant. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of whip cream they added on. Others were complaining about their eggs, pancakes, fruit, etc so I know I wasn't the only one not liking my order. Service was good because they checked up on us frequently, but food wise I wouldn't choose this place. Prices are normal and not too bad, but you can definitely get better quality and more affordable options elsewhere. I would say I expected much better being that it is inside a casino. read more

Awesome breakfast!! We went to Two Chicks restaurant yesterday and it was horrible so we decided on Empire Diner for breakfast today. Wow, what a difference. Just real good food and so fresh! I had the chicken fried steak and it was right on point! Spouse had the biscuits and gravy complete meal and said it was great. Everything was hot and fresh. Big servings too. We will definitely be back. Excellent service. They are very organized. Its really cool to watch the chefs and how organized they are in their kitchen stations. This place my daughter loves. I think it's more of a love because she knows she's been here alone on dates with her dad and her papa. This place is affordable. The ambiance isn't always the greatest being that it is baldinis... but I would give 4 stars if the servers were a little better. I feel like the servers do a subpar job because they are inside baldinis however if they stepped the game up of service I would give another star. The food is as to be expected and very in line with price. Not by any means do you have to choke your food down, it's still good food, just not a place you would rant and rave about. **** this place. I asked for a booth and they said they didn't have any. As we walked into the place, we passed 3 empty booths, I already felt the shade. The red haired lady then seated the next 3 party's in booths, even cleaning a booth for a 4th party. If you are a minority in Reno prepare to be discriminated against. Don't give them your business, this is unacceptable. Bad business. I haven't even got my food yet as I watch these people who came in after be served before me. We haven't been checked on since we were brought water but the cop next to us has had his water filled three times. Btw, this review was written by a white guy. Don't waste your money. Heck I will give it five stars. The service was outstanding and the food yummy yummy. How can you beat $8.25 for a New York steak and fries and a salad. The kids and hubby got all you can eat pasta for $6.50 and loved it. So it is not gourmet but it is good food and there is plenty of it. read more

I am NOT a fan of casinos, BUT I will brave the wilds of Casinoland for a meal at The Empire Diner inside Baldini's. EFFING BALDINI'S. That says a lot. Anyway... I have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this place and all I can say is WOW!! The food is amazing, especially for the price. I have had the AYCE pancake breakfast (I can't really eat more than two but for the price, it's totally worth it) the bacon I asked for "extra crispy" was done perfectly. I have had the regular old cheeseburger, also very, very good. Their french fries are PERFECT. I had another sandwich, can't remember if it was a patty melt or a rueben, either way it was delicious as well. Had a cup of their corn chowder once, and it was so good I didn't even care if it was from a can or not. Someone made it taste like it wasn't. The service is friendly and efficient. Mostly ladies of a certain age who know WTF they are doing. I so much prefer that over the obsequious service you get at so many places these days. So if you want to go out for a not-fast-food meal and want to leave a GRACIOUS tip, but you don't have a bunch of cash to spend I HIGHLY recommend The Empire Diner. read more

My husband received a $20 food coupon from here for his birthday, so we decided to give it a try. I must say I am not a huge fan of here. We have tried a few of their dishes over the last few years and I really have not been overly impressed. While their prices seem to be inexpensive, their quality does not impress me. On this recent visit I decided to try their fried chicken. Fried chicken is probably one of those meals that I could eat almost daily (I shouldn't but would be so happy if I could). The chicken seems to be overcooked and greasy. There was a bit of a lack of flavor to their fried chicken. It wasn't horrible, but I believe they could have a done a better job. My husband ordered the steak and eggs, and the steak was in need of some seasoning. His exact words were "It really didn't taste like anything". Hmmm... sounds like some seasoning would be a great improvement to their food. read more

I come in at least once a week for the steak and shrimp combo for only $8.99. The food is very fairly priced! The service is decent, however I would recommend that the manager maybe get new more friendly hostesses. The servers almost never make a mistake and are on top of it. If you come in here don't get the orange juice as it's served room temperature (I don't know about you but I like my OJ chilled or cold) I would consider myself a regular and recommend this friendly diner to anyone who is a breakfast food enthusiast. read more

Genuinely surprised by this place. It has a nice atmosphere to it. Reminds of a classic diner. I got the steak and shrimp and let me tell ya. The shrimp was battered beautifully. When taking the first bite it was crisp and crunchy, it tasted fresh. Then I ate the fries- and these fries were seriously one of the best fries ive had in awhile. A nice crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Seasoned nicely too. The corn wasn't anything too great but the roll was soft. And. I don't really care for coleslaw so can't say anything about that. But now to the steak. The steak had nice flavor. It was cooked to my liking, and all for 8$! I am definitely coming back! read more

Very disappointed in the All you can eat ribs and chicken. Ribs served cold, covered in sauce with minimal smoked flavor. Chicken was dry. Also ordered the 10 Oz steak and fried prawns. Steak was very thin, can't imagine it was 10 oz. Prawns were decent, but with lots of batter. Corn on the cob was warm but needed added butter. Coleslaw looked good but needed more sauce. Ok, I don't know why I haven't done this sooner but this is my favorite place to go! My husband and I go here for date night ( breakfast), I've been bringing my kids here for years our FAVORITE wait staff work here! For breakfast it's CAROLS and JUAN in the evening we love coming to see LU!!! We never have to wait too long for a table, they know us by name.. Feels like home. Five stars for value! Good diner food served by friendly waitstaff. What is not to like? The larger cuts of steak are choice cuts and marinated before being charbroiled. I am a low carb diet guy and they are always happy to substitute another veggie serving, a cup of fruit or a cup of cottage cheese for me. Also a fan of the Fish and Chips. hand cut breaded cod, but again a sub for the carbs is always done happily. Other fave is the cobb salad. I'm a big guy, but always stuffed when done cleaning this 'un up. Have been told that the new manager is pushing hard to improve the food quality and consistency. If there is a bone to pick, it is the consistency.... so more power to him. read more

This place is awesome! My family and I like to go here is much as we can, the food is great, but the service is great, and the atmosphere is great. The prices are even better. The servers they make you feel as if you were really important, they know you name if you frequent there a lot. They stop and say hello and ask how you're doing, make small talk, while also attending to other customers needs. They never give you anything to complain about their customer service. I never have to ask for refills, or extra napkins. They just bring you everything you need without you asking. read more

If the service had been good I would have given 3 1/2 stars for the food. The waitress did not come back and ask how our meal was at all. Had to flag down another waiter for a drink. Husband did not get bacon on his bacon cheeseburger, and when the waitress brought us our bill (which was the only time we saw her after she brought our meal, even though we tried to wave her down several times) and we told her there was no bacon and to please take it off our bill, she said she would. But she never did and so we finally got up and went to pay. We explained to the cashier that the waitress was supposed to bring a corrected bill but had not come back and the bacon should be taken off our bill. The girl said that they didn't charge for bacon and so she would not take anything off, to which I replied, "You mean to say that you charge the same price for a bacon cheeseburger as you do for a cheeseburger?" Then she replied to me that they did not but that she didn't know how to update the bill. She gave me an annoyed glance and asked the older woman at the register next to her. This other woman looked over the information, and then said that the bill had been "authorized" already and so there was nothing they could do. Then she proceeded to lecture me about how 50 cents is not a big deal and people can't just request their bills be changed unless there was actually something wrong, to which I said that there WAS something wrong! My husband got a cheeseburger after ordering and being billed for a bacon cheeseburger, and all we wanted was to be billed for what he actually got. Wow! How hard is that?! Anyway, we left very disappointed to what actually started out as a pretty good meal. Won't EVER return. read more
