I got carpet from Empire today through Charstan. He took the time to walk me through the options as far as quality and price is concerned and I ended up choosing the carpet that fits my needs. I was concerned about the rating on Yelp but Charstan also walked me through the reviews and most people are complaining about the quality of the carpet. If they choose the cheapest Empire provides, what do they expect?! I chose a Best product and was extremely happy with the installation crew and the outcome! Unfortunate delivery & installation of the wrong Berber premium carpet by sub-contractor Ramirez Flooring they use for all installations it seems! They arrived 5 hours late & while they worked hard into the night by 9 pm it was time to go & off they went leaving a messy clean-up of the wrong carpet to live with. I have been going through construction hell since November 2025. I was hopeful that big company empire would be the least of my worries. Unfortunately after doing a fantastic job for my rooms, all I needed was my stairs and hallway completed. Ive waited over a week for them to get done. Im waiting again today, its always, we are behind on a bigger project, cant make it to yours til after 6. I live in a HOA community, that wont work. Please, just get mine done so I can have a moment of peace. Believe me. If I could've had it done all at once, I wouldve. But I still have. Family to raise with an insane schedule. The stair railing alone was a massive undertaking not to mention the bathroom. Its all done now. I just need the rest of the upstairs space done so I can breathe. *Update* I shopped around for quotes from local businesses, but in the end, I couldn't bear paying more money out of pocket for their mistakes. So I decided not to give up and continued dealing with this company's customer service. I had to reach out multiple times, but eventually they sent a team of very respectful and knowledgeable workers who corrected the issues, and the final result is solid. I am furious. I had an appointment set for 5/14 and learned 5/13 that it was rescheduled for 5/20 because the material is not in. I had already waited a week for this appointment and the current trim is a safety issue confirmed by the last installer who agreed the laminate trim/molding is too high. I spoke to a supervisor, Amy, who rescheduled the installation for today 5/17. No one has arrived so I call to inquire and learned the material is on back order and won't be available until 5/24. May 24 is three weeks post installation. This is not okay. All of this after installers pulled my washing machine out inadvertently pulling the drain tubing out of the drain that ended up causing drain water to flood the brand new flooring which was only installed after another leak caused by Empire Today damaged my last flooring. read more

Avoid at all costs. Sales team is on commission and does not care that you find a rug you are happy with, they will change padding without confirming. If you call for help, the customer service does not care, and will redirect to local branch and they are not responsive. Not happy with the product or service. Do not recommend. I had to contact customer service to have repairs done on a recent installation of flooring. The floor was squeaky and bouncing in 4 different area. I'm beyond impressed with the work done by Carlos Roque and his crew. The installers were courteous, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft. DO NOT YOUR WASTE YOUR MONEY Jan 18th, met them at the place, they measured, I pick carpet, I purchased carpet, we set up install date, I received contract over email and electronically signed. I received copy of signed contract back over email. Feb 1st Carpet Install day: I took off work, drove 2 hrs to site and waited and waited, called ...where are you.... 4 hrs later, they call back. They state they didn't get my contract and canceled my install (no call, no email). They had IT issues. (Keep in mind, I had paid 30% down and had a copy of my signed contract in my email) We rescheduled 2 weeks out. They gave me a $200 credit for my inconvenience. (hmm $200/8 hrs of my time, plus my gas money, plus the toll fees, plus the fact that I have to take more time off.... doesn't begin cover the inconvenience) Tomorrow was install day but I Just received a call from them that they don't have the carpet in stock. Horrible installation. Installers could not speak English, so communication was a BIG problem. The old flooring was not taken up before the new vinyl was laid. They helped themselves to my refrigerator to store their drinks. One even sat in my recliner to have his lunch! They pieced together the carpet and left edges exposed. The list goes on and on. Dealing with customer service has been a nightmare. I said to never send the incompetent installers back. That I didn't want them in my house. The day for reinstallation came and they sent the original crew! HOPEFULLY, they can get it RIGHT soon. I will never, ever use this company again! Wish I had read the reviews for the San Francisco Empire Floors before I hired them to install my new carpeting. They are Slam Kings. No regard to property damage at all and tried to dodge out w both closet doors unable to open and close! The paint and Sheetrock finish stripped from their attempts to open and close the doors which worked perfectly smoothly before. They broke a bottom drawer of my dresser. Yes they did repair it. They took the paint off the corners of the wall 18" up. The leaned the heavy roll of carpet against my fabric levelers without rolling them up causing permanent creases. They put a seam in the middle of the hallway instead of a doorway. They neglected to put 3 pieces of furniture back where it was; I am incapable of moving a dresser or a bed and frame. Now the lamp just sits in the room, so no reading. One obviously loose area on the stairs which I had to point out to them. They were in such a hurry, I feel all of this should have been avoided had they cared and took a bit of extra time to do the job right instead of slamming it all in and causing numerous damages. read more

Instal wasn't great, exposed nails and no transition installed. But the worst is thier warranty program. The salesmen will tell you "don't worry if anything goes wrong we will replace it" we'll we had it professionally cleaned by zero res. But when they were done it still had stains. In July 2025, I agreed to have hardwood floors placed in my home. The installation was scheduled for August 25 but the installer LVP never showed up. I called and it was rescheduled for September 11. I confirmed in the notes section of the appt form that I was looking for wool carpet only and 4 color shades so they could be sure to bring the proper samples. I wish I would have reviewed them first before purchasing carpet. I had carpet installed Feb and officially wanted to wait 60 days to give them time to make good. But here I am. They never came back to fix base boards, I'm stepping on "stuff" on the floor under the carpet and oh, have a stain that won't come out on the stain resistant carpet. My fault, we spilled, but during the consult I asked sales lady how we get stains out and she looked at me crazy "it's stain resistant, you won't get stains". They made one follow up call and I told her about the base board and never heard from them again. When the base board was installed the "owner" said they'd be back next day (they outsource their jobs) and the follow up person was going to check on it. Still waiting It's such a big investment. Have you ever thought..."I must be on one of those hidden camera TV shows, because this cannot be happening"? Excuse the long post, this story just needed to be told somewhere; I hope it gives someone somewhere a good laugh, because I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry... Had an appointment for an estimate yesterday at 9-11am. Salesman showed up at 9:30 and was measuring my floors until 10:45. At this point I realize this is going to take longer than expected, and I tell him I have a zoom meeting at 11:30. He says no problem. By the time he gets all the samples out of his car and we pick one it is 11:15, but he can't give me the estimate because there were a few details he needed to call and ask his manager about. I remind him that I need to leave at 11:30. Again, he says no problem. He gets off the phone at 11:25 and starts generating an estimate for me. I tell him I'm really sorry but we are going to have to continue this another day as my meeting starts in 5 minutes. He asks if I'm free after my meeting. I tell him no, I have another meeting at 12:30 and then I have to pick my kids up from school. I write down my email and phone number for him to contact me so we can set up another time. I carry his samples to the front door and tell him thank you for coming, apologize again, and sit down at the kitchen table and open my computer to get on my meeting. He asks if he can just sit at my kitchen table to finish the estimate. I'm trying to be polite but also make it clear that I want him out of my house. I say, "Well I was going to take my meeting here, but if you need a few minutes to gather your things I guess I will go upstairs. You can let yourself out. I already put your samlples by the front door. I'm very sorry it didn't work out today." (my husband was sitting in the other room, also on meetings all day so I felt comfortable leaving him there by himself for a few minutes). As I am leaving the room, I join the call and very loudly say hello and apologize for being a few minutes late to the meeting. 45 minutes later I come downstairs, thinking, "great I'll have a few minutes to eat lunch before my next meeting" And then my heart sinks - I notice that the samples are still by the front door. I go into the kitchen and say, "Oh. You're still here." Like a statement, not a question. Not rude, but not polite either. I sigh loudly and tell him that I would like to eat lunch before my next meeting, and ask if I can help him carry the samples out to the car. He says, I just finished the estimate and emailed it to you. Can we go over it now? I was kind of interested in hearing the numbers, so I say, if you want to talk while I'm eating my lunch go ahead but I'm not really going to be paying much attention honestly because I need to eat. To his credit, I do think he cut his sales pitch short. Although that might have been because I cut him off after he showed me the numbers and said, "well thank you very much, I'll need to discuss this with my husband. I'll let you know if we decide to move forward with the job." He asked if my husband was free right now to discuss these numbers with him. I said no, sorry, he's in a meeting (which he should have been able to hear from the other room). I then said let me help you get these samples to your car. I picked them up, put them on the front porch, and gestured towards the door. "Thanks for stopping by have a great day." He finally left at 12:15. We won't be going with Empire for our flooring needs. Lol. read more

I'm still waiting for the direct line to the sales representative manager to discuss this. Absolute worse experience I've had when it comes to any type of follow up done by a sales rep. 1. We were never informed until day of our install that our floors we picked were not available. The gentleman who informed us, asked us if that would be a problem and passed us off to our sales rep. 2. We forced then because our house was completely apart due to thinking our initial install date would happen to pick our 3rd choice on our LVP. 3. We made it very clear to the sales representative that we wanted white risers on our stairs, which was of course not on the installers work order. So we were told we couldn't do that. Again lack of follow up and attention to details by the sales rep. Sales rep had to give the installer for approval. 4. Sales Representative made it seem like the gap between the new baseboards and paint would be a quick and easy project. It was anything but that, took 3 full days of prep, sanding down, and paint. 5. Sales representative made it seem like the EMPIRE warranty would cover any type of damage for 5 years. Which turned out to not be the case when we tried to add it after the install. Also, sales rep said we could add it to our order after the fact and still finance that amount, which did not turn out to be the case when we called to add the warranty. They wanted us to pay $2500 out of pocket unable to finance that. 6. Sales rep should not talk about financing if they are not aware of what the monthly payments will be for the customer. We were told our minimum payment would be whatever we choose and interest rate would go up to 30% if we did not pay off loan in 12 months. Go to make first payment and the minimum is $722 a month. 6. With all this being said we were offered at $200 discount for all of the miscommunication and mishaps. Which was never on the final invoice so we technically never got it. 7. The only part of this whole project was the fact that the installers were nice polite, respectful, and did a great job on the install. Management can call me anytime since Johnny the sales rep never provided his managers contact information when I asked for it. read more

The worst experience in my life. I am still in am ongoing battle to get my floors fixed for the 3rd time in 2 years with Empire. They installed incorrectly from the start and we have been getting the run around ever since the beginning. I am in the hole now more than the 12k the floors cost because they required us to pay out of pocket to prove we didn't have a leak in our home which we have proven on 4 different occasions now. I have been in a back and forth battle to just have floors that I love for 2 years! If you want to love your floors and actually get value for your hard earned money do not go to Empire run the other way. They do not know what they are doing. They will not help you. Just over the year mark, we saw excessive loos areas, where the carpet was lifting. We contacted Empire and they advised we were just over the warranty date. The carpets were obviously not installed correctly for the amount of lifting taking place. We have been trying to work with Empire to connect with the carpet manufacturer to see if they have a retention warranty. Empire's customer service has been unresponsive,. 6 years ago, when I bought my house, I had Stafford's put in carpet in two rooms. I made the mistake of having Empire put in the carpet in my living room because Stafford's didn't have the color I wanted. Empire didn't exactly have the color I wanted either, but they were closer on the color. Big mistake! In less than a year later, the carpet started bubbling up because they never stretched the carpet properly before tacking it down. I called them about it and they told me they could redo it for a couple hundred dollars more. This..after I have my couch, massage chair, and other furniture now sitting on it as well. Empire has been around for years, and you hear their commercials all the time, but trust me, the hype doesn't live up to the poor quality craftsmanship they provided. Then, they are not capable of doing any subfloor repair, like I needed, so Empire Today was not the best choice for us. Run, don't walk away from this company. The sales person we worked with was absolutely clueless on the technical details of our project. We just wanted to replace faded hardwood in the living room with laminate. He convinced us that it would be easy to pop up the old floor and replace, what he didn't realize is that the original hardwood was glued to the cement slab in that room. When the team showed up to remove the original floor, they spent half a day chewing on it only to have made a 3-4 foot dent in it and it looked ugly. They ended up patching what they removed with concrete and just putting the new floor on top of the old. Luckly the doors still opened over the higher floor. I used Empire to install carpets in 3 bedrooms. During the installation, it appears they broke one of my fans which was not notice till after they left. The blade was bent and the circuit breaker for the room had tripped. When I notified Empire, they told me no one on the crew had mentioned it. When customer service called me, they asked what proof I had. I told them that it worked when they started and didn't after they left, which was not good enough for them. We made a huge mistake 17 months ago, calling Empire today to come out for a quote. Literally the smooth talking sales guy, and the Ad we saw on TV was 75% off materials. They had to move 1 large dresser which I helped them and take apart a king bed and reassemble and we had 230 square feet of carpet needed and pad and we ended up paying $2600, with what was supposed to be 75% off materials. Less than 7 months later called and complained about all the waves in the carpet and nobody responded and now 17 months later still can not get anyone out and our carpet looks like an ocean with waves sticking up. Run and hide from these scammers. They want give you a traditional quote of so much a square foot. Terrible work. 4th rate company and no values behind it. Ashamed to let anyone see the room. Absolutely worst carpet company. They subcontract to outside installers and only offer a 1 year warranty on the install so installers do a poor job because they know they can get away with it. After less than a year of having my carpet installed with them, my carpet had multiple ripples and uneven sections from a poor install. Empire would not do anything to take care of it under warranty but said they would be more than happy to send someone out to stretch the carpet for $400 which would be backed by this same bogus 1 year warranty which they would not honor in the first place.
