We have been to EMW several times and everything has always been delicious. The food is very fresh and the staff are always wonderful. My faves are the Spring Rolls, garlic prawns, and lemongrass chicken noodles. I have told several people to check out EMW and each one has loved it and thanked me. I also appreciate how clean it is. We got a tip from a friend to visit EMW (East Meets West) and try it out. We are happy we did! We got two noodle dishes - one pork, one veggie - and they were awesome. Please see attached photos. PLUS I got the Chicken Wing Combo consisting of 6 Salt'n'Pepper Wings and 6 Yang Yum Wings. LOOK AT THAT PHOTO! LOOK AT IT. Amazing. We had to top it off with some bubble tea too, and they are masters of bubble tea at EMW. Though I tried to order the Almond Coffee Bubble Tea and the server strongly urged me not to get it. Sad. The "EMW Special" I had as a replacement was excellent though. Next time I return, I shall not be deterred! The signage out front is very subtle, making this restaurant somewhat hard to find (at least in my clueless opinion). Skip the A&W and the MickeyD's - go to EMW! read more

EDIT: So You think it's alright to be on the phone talking while cooking customers food? spitting into people's food is okay? we as your cusomer would have NO IDEA whose food he is cooking at the moment. and when my wife made that gesture, your chef came out and started off by saying "LET ME EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO YOU" in VERY RUDE MANNER and when I asked him if he is refusing to wear mask, he said yes he does not want to wear a mask. as for COVID rule, as you posted, social distancing was not done right on the 4 people table near the window and the 2 people table right beside it. there was no barricade nor any protection, Also as we walked in server never asked us to put down our name as this is a protocol as well. table was sticky, leathers on the chairs were so old and nasty literally ripping off as we sit. Washroom was not sanitized, it reeked smell when I walked in. I originally thought, okay we had a bad night. these guys deserves a bad review. BUT NOW I'M THINKING THESE PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS. I'm going to report every possible institutions, review sites, people around me, facebook pages, I mean every possible source I can find for people to stop going here. I would have sued you. 2 Response from the owner22 minutes ago We are respectfully responding as we are unable to accept the defamatory behaviour that you and your family have chosen to exhibit. This is exactly what happened: you requested to our waitress that our chef wears a mask when he cooks your food specifically. He had every intention of following your wishes in order to make you feel as safe as possible when dining with us. He was not on your order yet, and he was working on take out orders that was placed before yours when a family member of yours rudely signalled for him to wear a mask. Specifically speaking, she mimicked putting a mask on and threw her hands up in the air with exasperation. Our chef then came out of the kitchen with a mask on, to explain that he was indeed following the covid protocol since he is working alone with his wife, and that he was vaccinated, covid free, and that he wouldn't be breathing on your food when he does indeed get to it, since yet again, he was working on orders we received prior to yours. You then asked him "so you're not going to wear a mask?", to which he responded "no", because he was not yet on your order, and we were following all protocol, to which you responded to by leaving. We as a restaurant, have been extremely careful in following the covid protocols, as our chef is immunocompromised himself. As per FDA rules states (https://www.fda.gov/food/food-safety-during-emergencies/food-safety-and-coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19#precautions), " the CDC released an updated recommendation regarding the use of cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19. CDC recommends the use of simple cloth face coverings as a voluntary public health measure in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain ". He is working alone, with his wife, who is in his core bubble. We had no other employees present at that time, and there was no need for him to wear a mask, as there are no other employees he needs to social distance with. It makes a big impact on a small family business to receive negative reviews from your friends, who weren't there at the time of this event, and to receive exceedingly harmful accusations about our seeming lack of ability to follow public health and safety guidelines. We typically dislike responding to our customers' reviews and experiences, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we are posting this in order to make it extremely clear that we do indeed, follow all protocol, and we take health and safety immensely seriously so that everyone is able to dine in a safe space. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO EAT HERE I really really really didn't want to post a bad review here as this is really my favorite restaurant of all time. Their food and bubble teas taste really amazing and if I were just reviewing the food, it would be a definite 5 stars. However, with recent events, I felt it was only fair that I make aware to others what this business has been doing. For context, I had visited a couple of weeks ago and when I arrived, I was shocked to see that the chef and owner had not been wearing a mask. I looked visibly uncomfortable so he laughed and said that he was vaccinated. However, being vaccinated does not mean that you will not have to wear a mask. This is told to everyone when they get their shot as here in BC, our cases are still rising. I am aware that the owner posted a response as I was doing a little research before posting this review and she had shared a USA health link stating that kitchen members did not have to wear a mask. It doesn't matter that they are in a bubble as they are serving to the public. It saddens me that the restaurant I once loved will no longer be on rotation for me, but I will no longer be supporting them until they choose to follow protocol. This is in no way trying to sue them or put them down as I do understand that times have been tough during Covid, however, if we do not make these sacrifices such as simply wearing a mask, it can be very unsafe for everyone in the community. Wow, I found this place only by word of mouth after being here in Langley for almost 7 months. What a shame! The menu is quite plentiful.
