Great cocktails, great food, delicious bread. We stopped in for a light meal and drinks and Enswell delivered. Staff were super cool. The food was excellent. It tasted great and looked gorgeous. I loved my crab cake on a potato (their name was more elegant). The bread was sooo good. We asked about it and learned they bake it in-house. Cocktails were well-crafted. I've stopped in for coffee, for drinks, for a snack... this place gets it right every time.

So cute inside!! We came here for happy hour and the weird gelato pairings they were doing this month. I sampled the gelato, but stuck with cookies and cream which was delicious!! The crab fries and garlic bread are no skips. I hope to come back to try more food! We were lucky to get a table, the hostess was really nice and even found us outside to let us know we could make it! It does get really busy so I felt a bit rushed out but it was all good.

I thought this place was very cute. Outdoor limited seating and indoor area as well. The appeal was to get a quick read in amd have my pup with me. I felt like I ordered the wrong combination. I was able to do an egg sandwich and swap for sourdough bread vs eng muffin. Love that. Didn't love the copper sharp cheese that was a bit messy and tangy. I kept thinking they must have added some type of sauce on it. I'd much rather come back for a simple fried egg combo and chedda cheese. I was also offered sparkling water, but I do wish it had more fizz. The service start to finish was superb in friendly and fast service. I'd come back for mimosa/bar for sure.

My family and I got breakfast at Enswell during our stay in Philadelphia. This swanky, hip place offers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

Such a super cute place to grab drinks! The decor and vibes were super good for pictures But the food wasn't great. I got the crispy quinoa bowl and the whole thing itself was not pleasant. It has a horseradish dressing but the horseradish dressing overpowered everything!! Even the sweet potatoes tasted like horseradish and the whole bowl itself lacked depth and distinction between flavors. Would not order this and should be taken off menu.

The customer service was great, consistently checked in on us as well as other tables. The ambiance, decor, and energy was good, it's just a tight space once enough people start getting seated. Now as far as the food is concerned it was between a 3 and 4 for a few reasons. Let's start with the shared plate - cinnamon knot bread. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything amazing either. It was a case of trying to be too balanced, not sweet enough for a sugar lover but too bland for a not sugar lover. The cream icing I was not a fan of and the bread itself was slightly dry. For the meal we got the classic breakfast + steak and eggs. The potatoes were 5/5 as they had the right crisp on them. The steak and bacon were 5/5, thick cut bacon slices cooked just crisp enough but not burnt. The steak was ordered medium, came out closer to the rarer side but it had good flavor, cut clean, and chewed easy. The eggs were eggs. Lastly, the iced brown sugar latte to drink was solid, the ice cubes were huge which I found funny. All in all, I think we'd go again just not soon or we are in the area.

Great Coffee. Visited for brunch and the food was pretty good. The coffee was amazing the salad and the potatoes. If you're gluten free the options are limited however you can get something here. The vibe is very Wicked and cutesy. They were very hospitable and they had a coat check.

Came for a Sunday brunch and the place was packed, good thing we had a reservation! The service was quick and friendly. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very nice. The food was just okay. Nothing was bad per-say but nothing stood out either.

    brunch

very cute inside but honestly didn't think the brunch food was worth the price. Got a smoked salmon tartine for $22 and a turkey sandwich for $17. Might need to come back to try their coffee, dinner is definitely out of my price range. bonus points for having cute matchboxes. good location and beautiful interior bar!

    Old fashioned

One of my current faves. We've been here for cocktails (amazing) a quick late bite (get the hash browns!!!) and today, breakfast. Wasn't a huge fan of the bacon, it's super thick cut. The omelette was perfect and the salad was a perfect tangy balance. The ambiance is one of my faves and the service is awesome

Beautiful cafe! Came here for brunch on a Saturday and had a lovely meal. The brunch menu was smaller than what was on the website. I ordered a classic breakfast with bacon. The bacon was ok, but a bit tough. Everything else was good. This is more of a place to grab a bite before continuing to a different place. Service was quick to accommodate for all of the guests who were waiting and had reservations.

I came here for the happy hour collaboration with Cocco's gelato. I didn't make a reservation so I was told that to get a table, I had to wait 2 hours. They gave me the option to wait at the bar area. My patience paid off. I finally got a spot at the section next to the bar. It's standing area with a counter space that isn't very spacious but enough for small plates. The restaurant was super busy. People were waiting at the lobby. They were out of wine glasses at some point. I ordered oysters with champagne gelato. Unfortunately, gelato had melted and became watery. The gelato was delicious. My order probably had been out for a while. Oysters were fresh. Bartender was very friendly and engaging. Good spot to have drinks after work. I love the bar area. It has a very ornate wall.

The space was beautiful, and the food is good. It's just really really really overpriced. Worth going once, but won't be returning.

It is intimate, friendly, down-to-earth, and totally unique. I don't visit Philly as often as I'd like (I live in NYC but grew up here) and while I'm always keeping up with dining scene, it's rare and thus special when I get to put a space to the name, so the speak. Next of Kin has a quirky, playful, impressively creative menu with drinks that are memorable. We came here at around 10:30pm on a Saturday night after dinner. There was a bit of a line outside which moved slowly, but we were given cute champagne jello shot things for our patience which were delightful and a fun little preview of what to expect on the inside. The seating options consist of tables, bar, and what I believe they call "love pods", all of which are beautifully designed. We were seated at the bar, which is our preference anyway. I always like chatting with the bartenders and hearing about the craft, and it is particularly enjoyable when they're as friendly and generous as the folks who work here. We were talking to them about some of their infusions and they let us try a taste of the coconut mezcal and the bruleed banana infused rum and both were unreal on their own. We ended up getting the Coco Bello (coconut mezcal, apertif, aromatized wine) which is a white negroni variation and the Swamp Thang (green chartreuse, herbal liqueur, pineapple and poblano tepache), which was served in some particularly memorable glassware (pictured). Both drinks were exceptional and complex, the former more sophisticated and the latter wacky and wholly unique.
