We last minute needed a one way rental car from HP to the Twin Cities Metro, and luckily we were able to book one online at this Enterprise location. After I made the reservation, I called to confirm the cost (since there was no one-way fee). They saw my reservation right away and confirmed we were all good. When we showed up a couple days later for our reservation, the staff was helpful and kind - even made sure our model had AWD since it was supposed to snow on our drive back. They did a thorough job of assessing any marks before we left, and we were off. The car wasn't the most updated (no car-play), but it worked for what we needed it for! Update November 2024. My car again had to be repaired and GEICO Ins Co recommended Enterprise. Noticeable improvement with the same staff members because a new manager has been installed. I find the negative reviews are not representative of my experience. The people who work at this branch have been super helpful, professional and fast moving. The "Scott S" review was particularly obnoxious in that he felt the need to make a big deal out of the fact his wife is a local teacher--"they're being mean to a TEACHER! The horror!" Give me a break guy--she's a school teacher, not the pontiff or Mother Theresa--she works until 3 every day and has summers off. My only area of constructive criticism would be to find a way to get better @ answering phones. I get that they might only have two or three employees while the phones are going crazy and they are with customers, but there has to be a way for callers not to have to just let the phone ring continuously--that's the only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 *'s. My Review: Reserved a Pickup Truck a week in advance of the intended trip. Got a call from an Enterprise Agent at the Highland Park, IL. agency to confirm that I required a Pickup Truck (which I confirmed) and was told to bring my license, insurance information, and credit card to pick up the rental. Arrived at the Highland Park, IL. agency at 4:00 pm the next day and was told that they did not have any Pickup Trucks and would not honor the reservation. The agent tried to substitute a small SUV with a non-functioning driver's side window for the Pickup Truck reservation. Wasted an hour round trip that could have been avoided if the agent had been upfront and called in advance about the lack of vehicles. TOTAL FAIL! My wife is a local teacher in highland park. Her and our young children were rear ended in a car accident and she needed a rental. She took pictures of the car she rented when she picked it up showing a poor repair job at some point done to the front end. After returning it, they inspected it and said EVERYTHING LOOKED GREAT. Now they are coming back and saying they inspected it AGAIN and that they now are claiming my wife damaged the front end (that we have photographic evidence of previous damage) . She did nothing to this car (that had 40k+ miles on it). After all the stress she has held to deal with after the accident that was no fault of her own, this enterprise rental store is trying to take advantage of a local teacher and pull a fast one. This is shameful behavior from this company. So many in the local community have had my wife as a teacher and know so much that she has done for the community. Not the first time Enterprise has shown me how worthless they are. I had a reservation from Progressive. I called at 11:40 am. A gentleman told me he would call back. He never did. I called back at 4 pm and I was told that they were delivering a car uASAP. I live 5 minutes away. Still no car by 4:40 pm so I called back and waited on hold until after 5 pm at which point I was informed that I was on a waiting list. Apparently, "reservation" has a different meaning at Enterprise. What a fantastic car rental company and my wife and I always get great service from everyone at Highland Park Enterprise Car Rental. It's quick, the cars are always clean, the staff are courteous and well mannered, the whole process of ordering, receiving and returning the car is so easy. The pricing to rent the cars are great too and if they don't have the car you booked they upgrade you to another awesome car for the same price as for what you originally booked the car. I've used Budget, Avis and Payless rental car companies and they were disappointing to deal with. My wife and I refuse to use anyone else here in Highland Park and when we travel around the USA we only use Enterprise Car Rental. We recently sold our car...faster than we anticipated. While we shop for our next car, we are renting from Enterprise. The first week we rented, they upgraded our mid-size reservation and gave us a full-size Chevy Impala. We appreciated the roominess for our tall-legged family and the peppiness of the motor, but the car ended up having a leaking issue with the tire and ate way too much gas. We happily traded it in and ended up with a Hyundai Elantra--back to a mid-size car. I kid you not, it's a brand new car. Though it's super non-thrills, the gas mileage is out of this world, like 35 miles to a gallon. If you don't care about frills, I highly recommend getting this car. We've rented from Enterprise in the past, since it's conveniently located near our house. The customer service is top notch, and when we switched out our car they were super fast to make the transaction happen without any drama. Top Tip: Fleet of cars tend to get returned on Mondays due to weekend specials. So, if you're looking for the best variety, Monday is your day to stop by. read more

I have been disputing a charge by Enterprise Auto for months. I rented their auto for 4 days of car repair in February. I left the rental car and keys at the auto shop when I picked up my repaired car. Then I receive a charge for $1,436.30 for renting the car 2 months, 2 months later. The company nor the auto repair shop never picked up or returned my rental. It was sitting on the auto repair shop's lot for 2 months. I have put in a complaints with the BBB and my credit card service. I have made many, many calls. I am not responsible for the Enterprise Car Rental charges. Honestly, I bought gas just before I returned the car. I attempted to fill it to the level it was when I got the car (why can't they just give you a full tank, so you can return it full instead of guesstimating?). I know, they all do it but it's lazy. When the bill came through I'd been charged for gas, and in my estimation, more than it could have actually been short (next time I rent a car I'll take a picture of the gauge). I called, told the person on the phone I thought I had been overcharged, and he said he'd have the appropriate person call me. No callback. I had a very bad experience at Enterprise Rent of Highland Park, IL 60035 on 7/20/20. The salesman told me upon my arrival that I would need to wait two and a half hours by the road side, I see the hot sun for the car I had been told would be ready upon my arrival when I had made the reservation over the phone about 30 mn earlier. Not only was he rude but he told me since I was complaining about having come all the way from Chicago and not wanting to wait under the heat for 2.5 hours, that he decided he would not rent me any car. The reservation center took my drivers license and confirmed the car would be ready. I had the pay another $30 with Uber to come back home without a car. Not a happy camper !!! read more

We needed to move a few pieces of furniture and had to make several stops to drop it off in a couple of places. I called this place on a Monday to reserve a van for Friday. No Problemo! The cost was about $135. It seemed high, so I called around to several other places. Once we added the mileage to the "rent by the hour" trucks, it was close to $100. I figured this was easier to drive. The help was very nice. We dropped off the car, did our move, and returned the car about half a day later. They made it so easy for us... the only thing they could have done more was to help us actually do the move! :-) read more

I am probably what you would call a "Regular" at this location. A company I work with prefers my use of a rental car over personal mileage. I used to use another rental company primarily at airports but started using this location because it is more convenient to my home. I now use enterprise exclusively all over the US. With out spending a lot of time researching the absolute best rate, I find they are always a good value. I made a reservation for pick up 3 days in advance for 10 am and when did they bother to show up? 10:25. I hate services that aren't punctual. I don't understand the general "20 minutes is no big deal". Well it's a big deal to me. That's why I requested 10 am. Not 10:10 not 10:15...10 am. I'm aware it's a free service- doesn't make it okay that it's crappy. If you can't pick me up at the requested time, don't bother to offer me the service at all. I've been renting from this location for 10 years every time I come to town to visit my parents. I am not a regular in terms of how often, but whenever I am in Highland Park I only rent from Enterprise. Of course the pick up and return is a HUGH plus, and the price is competitive, but occasionally I have found a better price, but still stay with the Enterprise location. The people who work there are always friendly and courteous, and the current manager is on top of customer service. I say current as there is a turnover in this location, but the turnovers have brought in other friendly helpful young people. They get my vote for rental on the North Shore. read more
