This is not a paid review, so getting that out of the way, my ever so reliable ride left me standing around, so I placed a call to their office, spoke to the manager and I wasn't charged for a late delivery. Encountered to dropping the vehicle off, my reliable ride from earlier stayed ever so consistent and was now unable to me all. I inquired with the manager if they could drop me at home. I live far enough away, and with a tight staff made driving me home impossible. She did offer me an alternative, which was a true life saver, They got me to a local supermarket from there, and I was able to get a lift home. They were exceptionally professional and exceedingly helpful in essentially rescuing me. The heavyset man who took us with our car was immediately yelling at us. We booked a pick up for 9 AM. We didn't get our car till 10:48. He raised his voice. He snapped at me. My vehicle broke down and I contacted enterprise for a rental at around 7:30 am. I was told that I could have a large car at their Shingle Springs location (I prefer smaller cars but it's a car & I have to go to work). When I got there....no car, I was told people from their central office answer phones and don't look to see if one is available. The next one they would have is noon. He gave me the number for the Placerville location ( new policy they can't call other locations) I stepped out in front of the door for better reception and called Placerville, no cars until 2:30-3:30. I stepped back in to take the noon vehicle and in the 4 minutes he had given it to another person. New fact when you call what seems to be the phone # the AI requires you to answer questions about when your renting or why or just long enough for a car is Next one 2:30-3:3Opm But he would put me on a waiting list and call when one arrived. Around 11:30 am a woman named Melissa or Melinda called to say my car would be available at noon and she would email a confirmation. I go to pick up a car in Placerville. Not there, don't know the person who called ( infamous office?). They suggested we go to Shingle Springs... not there no one knows who called me, the lady I talked to was rude. At around 2:30 pm, I get a call Then I get a call from a guy who says I have a vehicle and to call a number to confirm I want it. But, he leaves off the last number . So I call enterprise again to get the #. Talk to a very nice lady who sends me to her supervisor who sends me to the district manager who sends me to the regional manager. Who promises a car with a pick up from my home since my neighbor who is driving me back and forth. Then around 2:30 pm, I get a call from Placerville...car there. Yeah!! But, I need to get there ASAP because company policy says they can only hold it for 20 minutes. I took a couple of minutes to confirmed he actually worked at that location. And I got a car. No pick up included Then a few minutes ago I get a text from enterprise that I have to get the car at noon! I contact customer service ( via chat) to say I'm bringing it back at 2:30. When I actually got the car. The "person" says they are so happy that experience was positive. I was so stunned I can't remember the actual wording... To sum it up...don't trust people at enterprise because you might get some idiot who can't be bothered to see if a vehicle actually exists at you local location. read more

I rented a car at this location and noticed a couple days later after pick up that I was overcharged $300. The total was finalized with the extra $300 before I left at pick up unbeknownst to me until I checked bank records. It absolutely did not show in the total I signed for. There is no line item for this extra charge on the invoice I signed electronically. Emma Harris the very young, rude assistant manager was belligerent when I questioned it. She said it was a deposit. " it's on the website" umm it's not on my paperwork. What kind of shady business practice is she doing? I did not consent to a deposit and have never been charged one before. When I asked for a receipt of the refund at pick up, she said she couldn't give me one. She let me take a picture of her computer screen. The driver she had pick me up needs to go to driving school. I can't believe they pay her to drive people! That was quite an experience. Don't use Enterprise especially this one. Also the overwhelming Febreeze odor gave me a migraine. I recently rented a vehicle from Enterprise to drive from Placerville to San Diego. The morning I picked up they gave me an upgrade that was roomier at no extra cost and were great with all of their assistance. Once I returned the car in San Diego and received the final invoice I noticed that I made a mistake in my booking and the bottom line was much, much higher than I anticipated. Once I got back to Placerville I stopped in at Enterprise to plead my case and without any hesitation and with the utmost kindness they assisted me with a reduction in price and were so pleasant to work with. I will definitely use them again for my car rental needs in the future. read more

We lost our vehicle to a house fire and were scrambling to take care of everything at once. The folks here understood and made everything as easy for us as they could. No issue with the car we rented; this review is based on the terrible customer service. I called ahead to make sure I could pick up a bit early and was told that'd work even better for them. Great but when I get there, the gal working the front desk wouldn't even make eye contact, no 'hello' or 'we'll be with you as soon as we can'. We ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes to be helped as another customer needed language translation over the phone. I don't mind waiting my turn but customers should be acknowledged at the very least. Finally a surly young man I'm thinking was the manager, begrudgingly came out from the back and without even checking the reservation, offered a Nissan Pathfinder. Um no thanks, we reserved an intermediate car to drive from CA to AZ and back, so need better gas mileage. So he suggests a Ford Fiesta in which I reply, what size car did we pay for? He gets defensive and starts arguing with me when all I was trying to confirm is what class of car did I pay for and what class of car are you trying to pass off on us? I understand you don't get the actual car featured when you make your reservation but please actually look at my order and provide what I reserved nearly 3 months prior. Customers shouldn't have to fight with you to get the proper rental. It would have also been helpful to have had the car washed and ready to go, especially when I called to notify them I'll be picking up at an earlier time. So it took another 15 minutes for them to get the car I reserved washed and ready for inspection to where I myself had to point out scratches on a wet car that they didn't want to acknowledge themselves. Lastly is a smile and a thank you for your business now too much to ask for a customer-service based business? If I ever rent with Enterprise again I'll drive further down the hill to use another location. Sad. read more

I'm not sure what happened but the idea of safety is apparently not their first priority. I had made reservations several days ago for a car that would accommodate my child's car seat and specified where it would have to sit what was expected. I arrived to pick up the car and what they provided me was a subcompact SUV that the car seat did not fit in. They called it a midsize SUV while saying it was the only vehicle available. I was told I could come back later for a bigger car at a higher price. Really? She then tried to offer me a car seat of their choice which is not acceptable. The car she offered was already not a full size vehicle and she wanted to charge full price for it! I should've added that Covid is not a reason to provide poor service and too many businesses are using it as an excuse. read more

We know than very well and they have great teamwork that extends to their customer service. Having come to know them on a first name basis. Sterling is the boss. He's a young and driven. If you've got a problem he'll help you work it out and treat you fairly. Megan & Melissa are super likeable. My wife and i think they couldn't be nicer. You should give them a try. read more

I was in a car accident and upset, stressed. My insurance is the best and covered up to a higher end luxury vehicle, but with snow due to arrive and needing to leave town for a day, I really needed an AWD or 4WD vehicle. These folks were the best, especially John the manager who worked with me to achieve my needs. They immediately got me into a nice vehicle at first to get me up and running again the day my car was towed and kept on helping me to get what I really needed, coming thru for me.. This was the SECOND time of renting vehicles from them and I have always been very happy with the quality of vehicles and terrific customer service they have provided. read more

I was appeased but not satisfied with the rental car they give me! They gave me a Chevy Camero and I wanted an economy car! The person who gives me the vehicle was very intimidating! Chevy Cameros are the worst fuel efficient cars ever! I had to go online on my phone to log-in to my business company who I work for to show Enterprise Rent-A-Car my pay stub in order to able to get a rental. This place needs better business management! I need a fuel-efficient car when I can spend gas affordably to get the airport! Instead they give me a $36,000 car and made me put insurance through Enterprise Rental! I have my own car insurance Infinity Car Insurance! They don't have enough rental cars in their lot and it makes customers to wait! I give this place one star for worst business here ever! The enterprise here in Placerville on Placerville Dr doesn't have a yard full of rental cars. If you're interested in getting a car rental go down to shingle springs. This one gave us the worst car a Camero coup with a convertible top. It's not made for travel. We are visiting and wanted a economy car. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience with this location! The manager, Melissa is a complete liar! The drop fee to rent a vehicle one way and drop at a non airport location is $25. She tried to charge me $100. She claimed it was case by case depending on vehicle demand. She refused to charge me $25 for the drop fee instead of $100 and she was completely unwilling to be helpful. Her customer service scores a ZERO! I didn't rent my car from them. I called and spoke to corporate and was told that is absolutely incorrect. Enterprise drop fee policy is a $25 fee. Period. Melissa was completely rude, unhelpful and dishonest. Not manager material that's for sure! I went to Folsom off Iron point and Edgar the assistant manager was FANTASTIC! So helpful, so polite and he even WAIVED my drop fee when he found out what a terrible experience I had in Placerville. Edgar really made my experience a wonderful one. read more

I was hassled from the moment I returned my car back. When I rented the truck from Folsom there was hardly an inspection done. When I returned the truck to Placerville, I was met with an inspection using a fine tooth comb. I was written up for scratches that were already in the truck. It looked like the person before me used it to hail cement. At the counter I was interrupted about half a dozen times by the phone and the Manger answering it. I was then forced to make an insurance claim on the scratches which I am fighting now. Never again with Enterprise! read more

They pretended to care, but it was a lie.**Pathetic customer service and caused me and my family a massive headache. I reserved a large SUV here on their website for last week. I was due to pick it up on Friday morning. I was called by a guy from this location at 4:56 on Thursday to tell me that they didn't have what I needed. Just small cars. His suggestion was that I call some other enterprise locations to see what they have available. Really? At 4:56pm. They all close at 5. He offered zero help, zero suggestions, and zero apologies. Just "too bad". I made the reservation ahead of time, confirmed it, and am told with no notice that they could not fill my reservation. I called the next closet location immediately. Luckily a minute before they closed. They also did not have what I needed but switched me to a large truck which I thought would be ok. The next morning when I called, I was told it only seats 5 and not 3 in the front row as I had expected. Had to cancel the reservation and was left scrambling to find something the morning that I needed it. Not through enterprise and for way more $ than I had planned. Thanks Enterprise. I reserved a car two weeks prior to our vacation. Went to pick it up today and they tell me they can't rent to me due to "an incident" in 2008! We do not remember any problems back then, and they can't tell me anymore than an incident. I called corporate and they were sorry this happened and they'd get back to me in 5-7 business days. BE WARNED. Watch these folks closely. The initial charges for VEH LIC RECOVERY is $0.99 per day the final charges were $2.86 per day. Also, the gas tank was half full, the guy said he would note it. I neglected to look at how he noted it, he actually circled both 1/2 and 5/8. Because I did not catch this when I received the car I had to add fuel to make sure I brought it back with needle between 1/2 and 5/8 to prevent additional fuel charges. read more

I have been renting from this store almost weekly since 2016. I have always received excellent customer service. I travel over 300 miles per rental. When I had a breakdown of a rental I was guided through the process of obtaining another vehicle smoothly and follow up was done to assure I had received what I needed in a timely manner. It's absolutely ridiculous that you not only can't go inside, but you force people to wear a mask outside. I was the only person there to pick up my car and I was still force to put on a mask, yet I was able to keep 6 feet of distance from anyone around me if there was anyone even there. It also took me 42 minutes to pick up my car and again I was the only one there. Bryan was absolutely rude and took his time to not help me. Horrible customer service. read more

The people here, including the driver who took me from point A to B to C, are all very nice and courteous. However, I have to ding them on a couple of points. First, I told them explicity at which motel to pick us up, but they told the driver the name of a different motel. They ended up picking us up 45 minutes late. Second, they gave me the car with just 1/4 tank of gas instead of a full tank. That's not particularly considerate, for starters, plus it makes it difficult to accurately get refill the tank to 1/4 before returning it. (They charge, like, $4.40 per gallon of gas if they have to replenish the fuel for you.) read more

I rented a rental car while my car was in the shop. I went to return it later in the day and their 'shuttle driver' had just left. I waited for the drivers return but felt it was cutting too close waiting for the driver to get me there before my mechanic closed so I rented the car one more day. I did drive by mechanics shop who were waiting for me and told them I couldn't get my car until the next day because enterprises driver wasn't available to shuttle me. I complained about having to rent the car another day when I returned it and was informed its just a 'courtesy' to pick us up and next time I should call ahead of time. So they advertise 'they're the rental service that picks you up but they should add 'in our own good time'. $60 down the drain read more

I have been a fairly frequent flyer for Enterprise using for business...etc. This summer I got in an accident with my brand new personal car and so used the local Enterprise in Placerville to rent since I had previous experience with them plus the fact that my auto body company had recommended them. It was the end of a long day after being traumatized with my new car potentially being totalled through no fault of my own. The Enterprise Manager was great! She put me in a Nissan Altima as it was one of the last cars on the lot and confirmed that my insurance carrier coverage of $30/day would more than cover it plus I had a "free upgrade" coming to me, so I signed a contract and kept the car until my car damage was resolved. After about a 3 week rental it was turned in without any issues. Fast forward to the week before Christmas when I get a call from the "new Manager" who tells me that my insurance company didn't cover the entire bill and that I owe $500+. I explained what the previous Manager had told me about it being covered no problem, but the new Manager didn't even listen to me. I called the auto body shop to let them know of my experience with Enterprise and told them that they should stop referring. This new Manager just went and charged my credit card the $500+ without any further conversation! Hello, and Merry Christmas from the Grinch of a new manager STERLING!
